Disappointment of the lack of Race cars

Thats funny, I thought there were too many racing cars when I was reading the car list.Especially considering GT doesn't really favor one specific class of car ( which I personally like), it looks to me they actually favored racing cars with this new list..

There are about 20 new race cars, maybe we can count 30-35 with the dupies.

While there are more than 100 road cars. 100 road cars, there is 1 race car per 5 road cars. What you have in mind saying that there is too many racing cars?? Maybe you mean road cars..

It used to be 50% race cars 50% road cars on the old games, where almost every car had an RM. In GT2, the non-RM race cars where treated and called "special cars". They were special.

However, in advancing, came the others GTs and the value of the race cars for PD only decrease. If you pay attention to every GT Intro, the older ones show race cars as they shown road cars. Today, in GT5 and GT6, most of the intro is dedicated to road cars. Sadly, every day GT comes closer to become "The Road Car simulator".

PD is actually forcing people who like race cars, and play the game for the race cars, to look for other options. For example, they used to have a good cover of GT300 - And now we got only 1 new GT300 car. We miss Toyota TS030 and many others race cars (I wont list them because this is not a wishlist).

If they didnt have GT3, I could perfectly say that the race car list is poor. Now I can say that it is a bit poor and could be a lot better.

The sooner you realise GT is about enjoying cars (in a general sense, covering everything - race cars, road cars, "futuristic" cars, strange vehicles, etc...), being a driving simulator as opposed to a racing simulator where there is a heavy focus on the foundations of racing, the more you will be satisfied with what GT has to offer. Or you won't be, because you like racing cars, and you will look at a car list like pCars' and be much more satisfied.

Well if we are talking ratio we could look at the real life numbers of race cars to road cars ratio.Whats that like 5 race cars per 100,000 road cars ? Your talking about games with a fraction of the amount of cars in GT6/GT5 so of course your going to see a number like 50/50 road cars and race cars, when there's a total of 100 or so cars.I fail to see how how they are forcing you to use road cars when there are so many racing cars, hell more racing cars than what was in GT1 and GT2 for sure..To me it seems like you selfishly want the game to feature predominately racing cars, to which I would have to disagree with because I'm not a huge fan of racing cars, and since GT to me is the game for road going cars.

Yes its all about enjoying all cars. Not just road cars, and its already happening.

Im not saying that it doesnt have to have road cars. It does need for sure. But, it should have 50 50%. Maybe saying that the race car need more work justify a little decrease, but everyday there are more road cars and less race cars on GT. The numbers of the cars doesn´t matters, Im talking about proportions.

Again, another thread for whining about a whole lot of nothing. I, like many, are very impressed by the new cars added. Such diversity this time, and a many of the cars people where dying for in the game have been added. I don't understand how people can whine about the fact that they didn't add the whole season lineup of a really obscure racing series, sure there's cars like that, that I would have liked to have seen, there's no way they are going to tailor everyone's needs. Heck there's cars they added that I didn't even know that I wanted till I saw them. PD have done a good job with the car list this time. Just get over yourself.

Am I the only one who doesn't find race cars that exciting? I mean, they're awesome of course, but they all feel pretty much the same and have similar cockpits in comparison to the road cars, which all have a different personality and look better.
Out of curiosity, do you think this is inherent? As in all real race cars feel the same, or do you think it's an issue in the game?

Personally, I don't think road cars are special. They're as bland as racecars when I try them in GT. In reality, all the cars would feel far more distinct.

This.

I mean these:

Audi R18 TDI
Audi R8 LMS
Audi R8 LMS ultra
Bentley EXP Speed 8
BMW E92 M3 (BMW Motorsport)
BMW M3 GT (BMW Motorsport)
BMW Z4 GT3
Chevrolet Corvette StingRay Racer Concept
DeltaWing
Lamborghini Diablo GT
McLaren F1 GTR
Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3
Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3
Renault Sport Mégane Trophy
Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe
Subaru SUBARU BRZ
TOYOTA 86 “Racing”
Volkswagen Scirocco GT24
+ A couple of Nascars

Now, you show me a list of all those:
Thanks for the summary, i'm afraid i can't agree on your request for a list of the newly implemented small japanese cars tough, i might fall asleep in the process ;)

I must say I find it slightly odd how people will go to all ends of the earth to defend PD. Are you really satisfied with a new game having such a small amount of cars, yes some of the cars they have added are great but come on, stop being such fan boys, I love GT as much as the next person but I expect a lot more.

Look at the added Le Mans cars, 1 new LMP car was added (Bentley was already in previous GT's) and it's not even this years model! I went to Le Mans this year, some of the cars on display were breath taking, and GT normally replicates that feeling onto a virtual track.

I would love to of had the Rebelion LMP cars and even the LMP2 cars the GT Acadamy drivers were using in this years Le Mans! DLC is not good enough, why should we have to pay for add on's for what the game should have been

I would recommend FM5 to you then xStretch, they have by far the best lineup regarding racing cars and closer racing to, but then again our high end wheels are rendered useless on the XBone :irked:

That's the problem. Microsoft not fully understanding the market. Keep limiting their potential customers with these stupid hardware limitations. They seems to be unable of looking beyond their nose. Not impressed, it's Microsoft.

That's the real reason why lot of us are still around GT forum. Because we have a Logitech or Trustmaster wheel.

I bought a fanatec just a couple of months ago...
Let's not kid ourselves GT6 will still be enjoyable to play due to the graphics and the physic model, but for the future we should 1: burn a candle that our wheels WILL be compatible with PS4, and 2: burn a candle that a competitor like PCARS can give PD a run for their money finally.

Them having the monopoly on Playstation, is what doesn't make them bother updating the major flaws in GT, the name will sell itself anyway...

Gran Turismo has always been moslty about the road cars to me. That said, there's plenty of important racecars that should be in.

Also some racing series in GT are very "underpopulated".

Edit: Oh and there definitely needs to be more classic racecars from the 60s, 70s and 80s.

Let's be honest, only 4 GT3 cars, one GTE car, they practically grow off trees, its a joke.
Agreed. It should be more balanced. Something like 50% road cars 50% race cars. I think we have 75% road 25% race which obviously piss lot of people off.

That said, if they eventually let us paint these cars and let us assign them to AI, we can still make awesome stuff out of it. But the thing is, 1 month to go and all my posts about livery editor, event creator and better AI are still wishful thinking. Not impressed.

If you look at the recent promo vids, there's a lot of pairs in races already (meaning 2 versions of the exact same car), so they could fill up the grid for the GT3 event for example with 2 BMW Z4's, 2 Audi R8 RM's etcetera...

Otherwise they simply wouldn't manage.

Thats generous. I would say roughly 10% are race cars

I never really used the road cars in GT5, didn't enjoy them and there wasn't really a lot of use for them online. Singleplayer was awful so I didn't even bother enjoying my time doing it

I really hope with the BMW's they have the same cars with different liverys at least!

Ok now after talking about the totally unbalanced carlist, one positive note: that Diablo GT2 '98 looks so freaking sexy. That, the Ferrari FXX and McLaren F1 race car I saw in the trailer. Yeah I know, it's not the longtail version which is the best Mclaren F1 but still a cool car. We should have more of this stuff.

These are the kind of cars I was dreaming when I was a kid, not that boring GT-R.

I'd say it's probably more than 75-25 in favor of road cars, it's especially disappointing when you bear in mind all the race events that Polyphony goes to and is involved in. The Nissan Powered LMP2 cars and GT3 cars which were driver by GT Academy graduates should all be in the game, it's a no brainer, yet they fail at even doing this.

Off topic; did you hear about Super Aguri's return in Formula E?

I think the disappointment is mostly because of the lack of new cars. Only 124 total, counting a handful of dupes. 200 new cars would've made a big difference to the list. I'd say a balance of 150 road cars and 50 racing cars would've been great, but it's disappointing since we barely got over 100 cars total.

Nope but thanks for the heads-up. Weird design, not bad I kind of like it. 👍

I think, that there is reason that some cars are named with the additional words "Base Model". My opinion is, that you can paint these cars with different and ready liveries. These are the cars with "Base Model" in the name:

15. Autobacs Garaiya GT300 Base Model '08
20. BMW M3 GT2 Base Model '11
52. Honda HSV-010 GT Base Model '12
54. Honda NSX GT500 Base Model '08
68. Lexus IS350 GT300 Base Model '08
69. Lexus SC430 GT500 Base Model '08
77. McLaren F1 GTR Race Car Base Model '95
80. Monster Sport SX4 Base Model '11
81. Nissan GT-R GT500 Base Model '08
83. Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 Base Model '13
85. Nissan Z GT500 Base Model '06
88. Peugeot Peugeot 908 HDi FAP Base Model '10
94. RE Amemiya RX7 GT300 Base Model '06
99. Renault Sport Mégane Trophy Base Model '11
106. Subaru BRZ GT300 Base Model '12
107. Subaru IMPREZA GT300 Base Model '08
116. Toyota 86 Race Car Base Model '12
118. Toyota Supra GT500 Base Model '05
122. Volkswagen Scirocco GT24 Base Model '08

So there would possibly be more race cars with different liveries on the track. What do you think?

Maybe it's because alot of people don't care all that much about the race cars. Not saying it wouldn't be nice if they added more...but most people use road cars alot more than race cars.
