DLC #4 or GT6?

One of the biggest problems sony had this generation is that it's highest selling IP came late into the ps3 cycle.

The reason GT5 took so long is due to the huge number of features and asset creation work pd did. You also have to understand that they threw a large part of their programmng code from the ps2 era to transition to the new era of multi parallel coding.

So from sony's perspective it's better for them to have Gt6 within the first 18 months of ps4 launch like gt3 did for the ps2. It would help them drive their console sales and create hype for the new console.

And ofcourse the fanbase would salivate over new graphics, more cars on tracks, more advanced physics etc etc. win win for both parties.

creating a new brand new mainline GT game on the tripple is just a diminishing set of returns. No point in wasting resources.

I want GT6 for the PS4 not PS3. Kaz looks for realism talking about graphics and with the PS3 this is not possible he needs more processing power. (GPU and CPU, with higher resolution like 1080p not being up-scaled)

I would prefer DLC for GT5 but more than that a new update with more features for the track editor (i only used it a couple of times because i couldn´t make that i wanted just random tracks) and if it possible realistic engine sounds. No more no less.

Should I vote DLC #4? But it takes forever to come. Or should I vote GT6? But how long will it take? Hoping it'll be on the PS3. Not sure yet... :\

A long time ago I mentioned how much we need a Gran Turismo 6 Discussion Board and honestly -- WTH?

Not to mention, shortly after making the thread it was deleted. We need a GT6 General Speculation Board.

Wake up GTPLANET, ZZZzzzz...

What is wrong with the premium models in GT5 exactly?

Gran Turismo is more than just beautiful looking cars.

Ok then, what's wrong with the best looking tracks in GT5?

Also if Kaz looks for realism in his graphics and the PS3 isn't powerful enough for what he wants what about the PS2 and PS1? Why did he release games on those formats, because they clearly weren't powerful enough for realism were they?

DLC would be my choice but i would like to gt6 to come out on the ps3. the dlc was anounced in a 2 month cycle and its been 3 months since the last lot (I think). The ps3, as sony keep on stating, is only 6 years in a 10 year life span and i would make sence for gt6 to come out on ps3 because there is usually a 3-5 year gap between each gt game.

Nothing. But the overall textures on tracks needs to be in high definition/resolution.
Effects like dust and shadows needs more post processing just to avoid the 'blocky' aura around the car and in the shadows.(anti-aliasing too)
Engine sounds needs to be realistic in a realistic looking game don´t you think?

All this needs more processing power. CPU,GPU memory and RAM.

To me driving a premium car on a premium track like Nurburgring looks brilliant. If they bring all of the cars and tracks up to that level along with other changes I'd be very happy.

I don't know why people want to buy a new ~£400 console just for better visuals when so much more can be done with the current console you already own.

I'm looking at the "DLC #4" vote, wanting to click it soon. But GT6. :( And yes, I rather see GT6 on the PS3 instead. We all know Kaz and PD could make better changes in that game on the PS3 don't we? Who cares if the PS3 is limited, there can be a possible way to squeeze more into it. I wanted to see GT6 being on the PS4, but NAAAAHhh, PS3 all the way.

I've said it so many times but i'll say it again, GT6 does not need to be on a next generation console to be great. The way people are going on you'd think the PS3 was never powerful enough for a great GT game which is of course ridiculous.

I'm not going to find my old posts to copy and paste but here are just some of the things they could add/enhance which are nothing to do with the power of the PS3:

- All premium cars
- More tracks and all of them with night/weather
- Hundreds more events and a completely updated A-Spec, remove the level system
- Online overhaul bringing lots more variety and community events like the 'other' game
- Much better customisation/RM over all the cars including a livery editor

There is more but that alone would make for a much better game. We don't need new hardware for a great GT game.

👍 So true. I've also posted a bunch of comments on how a new GT title could easily be released for the PS3 and be 1000 times better than GT5. Like I said many months ago, it's all about prioritizing the correct features of the game instead of other features that drain the capabilities of the console, and that at a long term they really don't make the game any better.

Just to clarify. I love GT5 and think it's still the best racer out in the market. But there are a lot of things that could've been done differently.

I hope they dont put B-Spec in GT6 i hate it ! took me over 3 weeks when the psn was down from 0-40 "without 200%" i just cant see any need for it make A-Spec level 100 :P:tup:

A-Spec 40 | B-Spec 40
game progress 100% | trophies 91% | x60 Golds
 :sly:👍 :gtpflag:

There's no way gt6 will be on ps3, think of those horrid jaggy shadows in gt5 which Kaz himself has said is entirely down to ram limitations of the ps3, If those jaggies are on gt6 I won't be buying it and same goes for standard cars.

While I agree standards shouldnt be in gt6 but not buying a game just because of shadows is a bit much isnt it?

I don't think its a bit much, the jaggies shouldn't really be in a ps3 game but then ps3 does have ridiculously low ram so I understand but only on the understanding that the same fault won't be in gt6.

Perhaps a bit off-topic here and sorry for the long post.....

According to: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-gran-turismo-5-tech-analysis

In non-3D HD modes, GT5 runs in either 1280x720p with 4x MSAA or 1280x1080p (upscaled) with 2x Quincunx. Text and details such as reflections look better in the latter even though it is not Full-HD and Quincunx adds some fine bluring. (I'm not sure but I think Prologue used 2x MSAA in place of Quincunx.)

To clarify on my view on 'PS3 graphics' on the PS4, what I meant is that the effects and resolution are 'unleashed' so that the gameplay graphics, menus and replays look 'maxed out' and run at 60 fps as in the pre-rendered trailers and intro movies.

It could run at Full-HD 1080p with locked 60 fps and 2x MSAA or FXAA, like how the PS3 God of War Collection remasters ran at 720p60 with 2x MSAA compared with 512x448p and 60-ish fps (inconsistent framerate) and no AA.

From a technical viewpoint, the 'flaws' in GT5 that I really mind are:

- The occasionally flickery shadows.

- The install/loading times which Digital Foundry said can be fixed by using a different file handling method (or something like that).

- The blocky water spray effects even when in photo-mode.

- The 'juddering' menu screens whenever there is some animation going on. (Like in the main menu and career garage screen.) I believe that it is caused by the menus and the replays being locked to 30 fps. Even so, 30 fps in Motorstorm 2 or on my PC 'feels' smoother somehow.

The annoying thing is that the 1st and last problems were carried forward from Prologue.

I do not really mind the screen tearing or the rare framerate dips into the 40s-50s.

Hence this is why I feel it may be more 'technically' beneficial for GT6 to be developed for PS4.

If GT6 is released on PS3 as 'GT5-style' with improvements to every non-technical aspect, I can't help but feel that GT6 will be the 'true' GT5, the actual GT5 is GT5 Prologue Spec 4, and that some of the improvements could have been added via DLC.

Thus, I would greatly prefer GT6 on PS4. Though if it's released on PS3 I will pick it up anyway. :)

Lastly, apart from Ridge Racer 7 and Wipeout HD, I don't think many other current generation console games can do Full-HD with a consistent 60 fps target.

I think the shadows could have been completed properly if they had planned the game better.

A few more DLC's and updates for GT5 will be great!! ...while PD put most of their efforts into making GT6 an amazing PS4 launch title!! :dopey: :D

What about GT4? GT4 was triple A. It released in 2005. PS3 released 2006.
They need more development time to release on ps4

Its different know and the World change. Some use 2 GT on each Hardware as a Argument, but they didnt had DLC, Patches.

And your Argument is a Good One, but there was no huge competition.

Forza wasn't there or new.
The Xbox was a New console and the PS2 Sold over 100.000.000.

Now we have PS3 on the third Place in Terms of Sells and a huge and Good competitor with Forza.

Time changes...

GT6 on PS4, but with PS3 graphics that has stuff that only PS4 could handle.

Think about it. If PD used the PS4 engine, they would take alot of years on GT6, and it would end up having the same fate GT5 did.

So does anyone agree that GT6 should be on the PS4 with PS3 graphics?

Well. A PS4 Game Needs PS4 graphic. It Sounds a Little bit harsh, but your Comment makes no Sense for me.

CryEngine3, Frostbite,... were Build to create PS3,360,PC and Next Gen games. According to developer.

That means if PD isn't stupid they made a Engine which is more powerful than PS3 can handle. And if they arent stupid they also created all p Cars in higher quality than the PS3 can handle. Turn10 did this.

In addition to people in these types of threads constantly saying that PD need the PS4 to fix problems that had nothing to do with the PS3's limitations (most of them pointed out by SimonK), one thing I find curious about the threads like these is that many of the people who say GT6 has to be on PS4 seem to be acting like it will be the last GT game ever made or something.

Yeah, there's no way that's ever going to happen.

Yeah, there's no way that's ever going to happen.

Maybe some People think like this...

- AI improvments
- Livery Editor

And all other Things that the PS3 can handle could be added with Patches, Updates, DLC to GT5.

A GT6 on PS3 would be Out 2012/2013. A GT6 with huge huge huge improvments could be Out 2013-2015.

And Sony Needs a Good Start for PS4. GT is their Franchise and they should use it early in the cycle. GT has Big competition know . And so have Sony.

MS has a plan and they Recently added 6-8 New Studios.
Valve are working in Hardware right know.

I think the shadows could have been completed properly if they had planned the game better.

Yeah, if they'd planned to not have day / night cycles and skimped on a few other things.

Really, it's not an issue. At all. I'd love for them to be better, but there is plenty that can still be done with the existing framework. That includes AI tweaks and a livery editor, although people will complain about the low-res textures, naturally.

I still have faith in a possible DLC Pack #4. :nervous:
No new tweets from Kaz, other than a possible premium Supra, have begun to make me lose hope. :grumpy:

I'm expecting the DLC to hit around the 3rd week of May. A bit like spec 2 coincidentally hitting on a rivals release date.

I'm also expecting it to be quite good too.

What's being released on the 3rd week of May? It's a bit soon for Forza 5.
