Does anyone actually race anymore...

Or do they all just slam the walls all the way around the track in a Tomahawk? Funny thing is, most of the hosts allow them to do that...Grrrrrr very frustrating!!

"looking for friends" they said, just for fun. So I entered, wham! Most horrible experience I ever had. Just chose a car I wanted to drive around in, ended up surrounded with VGT crap slamming me around at all costs. There should really be an option called "destruction derby" or something. Have yet to discover a decent lobby with people genuinly looking for friends

I don’t race online often, when I do it’s in organized leagues :) Most of my racing is done offline, 1 hour ‘endurance’ on the Nordschleife 24h against AI can be pretty good, at least they don’t get butthurt when your pass wasn’t the cleanest :D

Most lobbies are full of people driving(/crashing) cars they can’t handle.

I race Sport Mode, all categories, and I have pretty awesome races. Sometimes they get aggressive, but hey, everyone wants to make up positions. The trick is to have them over drive their car and set up the pass (which I've found is easy with aggressive drivers). DR: A SR: S, got placed with a lot of Leaderboard drivers last night and had a blast battling for a top 15 (seriously, great clean racing in a TOUGH LOBBY)

Is there any other way to drive the Tomahawk?

In a game where a large chunk (if not a vast majority) of the player base is using a gamepad, I question the logic of so prominently featuring stupidly overpowered vehicles. Yeah, the odd Chaparral or whatever is neat in theory but rarely makes for very good racing (or even driving).

I like to look at them and hear them but even with a wheel, actually driving them seems pointless. If I wanted that kind of racing, I would play Wipeout.

I've been having a decent enough time just sticking almost exclusively to the Gr.4 cars for every Sport mode race I've done (all 20 or so).

Yeah I tend to stay in the GR4/GR3 lobbies. Been thinking about doing my own with variable HP say starting at 100HP, or even 200HP, and increasing it 100HP with each race, but have a feeling most people would not be interested...Oh well..

It's a shame honestly. I like slower cars. Not everything has to be about the meanest 4-wheel rocket out there IMO. I'd be part of a session like that for sure.

Well if anyone is interested send me a friend request.. My PID is biggbaddwolf, just like my screen name here. Maybe we could get something going :) I always like to race clean, even if I don't win..LOL and I do realize sometimes people lag, and if something happens it isn't always their fault, and sometimes people just make bad judgements, like braking too late, but it's all good as long as everyone is having fun. Only thing the bites is there is no voice in the lobbies, which I don't understand, since GT5 & 6 had it. I am hoping that is something they will add in an update at some point!!!!!!!!

Just fire up a party chat mate.
Pretty sure it's limited to 8, but 8 is better than none.

i'm very careful with what lobbies I join, if i dont find one i think i would enjoy i set my own up with a few additional settings - that quickly weeds out the people that actually want to race vs those just looking for a quick destruction race

I'm a clean racer, however, the only time I make contact is a) when people behind me don't break. b) when i miss a break point cause i get scared/nervous around certain corners. c) when someone is purposely trying to nudge me off the track, i'll clip their rear left or right wheel so they spin and slam into a wall. cause im tired of people ramming others.

I might host a server soon which is GR1.

Server is for LMP1's only. If you have an LMP1 come and join the track is the tokyo speedway but also might do Bathurst or suzuka.

Lmp1 racing all the way.

What I read was " i'm a clean racer. I also ram people off the road because I hate when people ram others off the road...."

Grow up. Its assumptions of intention that turn ruin the race so fast. You have no idea why they are "nudging you" it could be a stick user, it could be just close racing, it could be lag... but you ruining others race because yours got ruined is pedantic.

I don't blindly ram people off the track like a pleb, however if its consistent and deliberate which ive seen happen many times against me because i'm usually close to pole. (mostly 6 - 4th places). sometimes you get childish people who get jealous and purposely ram or block the track. its annoying.

I'm aware of paint trading or body rubbing and i can tell the difference between that and intent to purposely ram me off the road.

DS4 stick users wobble all over the place (especially out of corners and into the straights), if you are anywhere near one of these users then accidental nudges will occur. They look bad on the replay and they can ruin your race but are mostly just honest mistakes.

I agree, and you can tell that its just slight rubbing or small bumps. also most clean racers are nice and even though they can get close they try to keep a distance. but i'm talking more about people who don't break at all or break after the hill apex late so that they can ram you while you're doing the apex turn through the corner and continue on. (talking nurberg)

The problem is your retribution. Do you think that crashing out players is going to teach them a lesson? It probably makes you feel better but.. you know.. now your the problem. Be a role model and take the high road. most people i race do make mistakes but have good intentions.

the problem is, most lobby hosts that do these races don't care about disgruntled players that bother us drivers who are trying to have a normal clean race. even though its been voiced in the lobby chat, most hosts do nothing. which is quiet disappointing.

I know my retribution gets the better of me sometimes, and I get frustrated by people that behave like that and sometimes turn into something im normally not. but its frustrating to work so hard in an intense race to get where you are. and then have someone who clearly doesn't care and gave up long ago just ruin that for not only yourself, but others as well. I don't feel a sense of satisfaction after I just feel like i've wasted my time because people like that never learn. but at that point, they've ruined the race so theres no point to continue and i usually leave after.

I wish if people feel like they can't win for whatever reason, just finish the race anyway like a normal person. at least you'll get mileage points and some exp if not a huge lump sum of money.

Yes it's annoying and we all have to deal with it. But you are still trying to justify your participation in the bad behavior that you are complaining about. Either you are OK with it or you are not. If you are not OK with it, then don't do it. Other players that do this stuff, they are NOT receiving the "message" you are trying to send by spinning them. You aren't teaching anybody any lessons by returning the favor, you are just making the online racing community a little bit worse. Just focus on driving your own race. You will be more successful if you don't get distracted by small incidents... even a number of small incidents caused by the same driver. This is not personal against you, they do it to everyone else too.
Myself, yes, I have wrecked other drivers on purpose and at that time I believed that they deserved it. But in hindsight, I sincerely wish I had not done that. I am not a racing official or a race steward, I don't know what was going on with the other driver. As others said, maybe his gamepad malfunctioned or foot slipped on the pedals or whatever. I try to contain my emotional response to incidents, focus on my speed and my position among others, and remember these experiences as I improve as an online race car driver :D
