Does Anyone Watch Wrestling? (WWE, AEW, TNA, NWA, etc)

Here's a link to the story on NXT.

I honestly have mixed feelings on it. NXT has been a fantastic show on its own but it failed at getting wrestlers to the main roster which is the whole point of NXT. Only very few big names from NXT like Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens have found true success in the main roster while a lot just get lost in the shuffle. NXT wrestlers wanting to stay at NXT because the main roster was likely to doom them is not a good sign.

The one thing I am slightly concerned with is the "back to its roots", does it mean the reality show format that was only there to serve Nexus and had no idea what to do after, I enjoyed the reality show format ironically but it definitely wasn't good at all for its purpose (also felt easily rigged since our votes only mattered for 50% and you can tell who they wanted to win based on what angle they got) It could also mean the ECW brand?

From what I've hear, it's pre-"sign all the indy darlings" post-gameshow NXT that these "roots" are.

Also, developing situation involving former WCW Cruiserweight Champion and TNA Knockout Daffney and possible suicidal actions. Was apparently talking about it on Instagram Live.

EDIT :(

Yeah, when I saw "RIP Daffney" on Twitter, I knew we lost Daffney. Then too, Twitter can be toxic as Hell. It is still sad to lose Daffney. My condolences go out to all who known and loved Daffney through the entirety of her wrestling career.

I didn't expect Finn Balor to look so strong in defeat. Very glad they did that even though John Cena looks like a joke for Reigns not needing to cheat to beat him  oh well for me at least I didn't care for Cena vs. Reigns anyway

Might buy the all out ppv on Sunday. This will be my first ppv other than the WWE network ones that I’ve seen or the ones on Peacock.

Becky Lynch v Bianca Belair for the SD women's title is the first match made for Extreme Rules, there will be a contract signing for it next week.

Next week's show is at Madison Square Garden and is called a 'Super Smackdown', also on the show will be a re-match between Rollins and Edge plus Brock Lesnar's return.

As for last night, the main event was really good and Balor looked good, Rollins antagonised Edge by beating up Cesaro using the crossface with the piece of steel chair like Edge did and he attempted to do a con-chair-to on Cesaro until Edge came to his aid. Logan Paul made another appearance, Dominik lost to Sami Zayn again, the Rick Boogs push continues as he picked up his first singles win against Ziggler, And Heyman has the Lesnar theme song as a ringtone whenever Lesnar calls him!

So do you remember last week on Raw when they advertised a few matches before the show and none of them happened? Well last night they announced a lot of matches for tomorrow night.

Charlotte defends her Raw women's title against Nia Jax.
Drew McIntyre v Sheamus and the winner faces Damien Priest for the US title at Extreme Rules.
A seven team tag team turmoil match to determine RK-Bro next challengers, taking part will be: Viking Raiders, Styles & Omos, Lucha House Party, New Day, Mace & T-Bar and Jinder & Veer.
Natalya & Tamina v Rhea Ripley and Nikki ASH-non title match.
Reggie v Akira Tozawa-non title match.

I wonder how many of the matches will actually take place, a few good matches there to be fair though.

USA Tokyo 2020 Olympic Gold medalist Gable Stevenson has signed a contract with WWE, he made an appearance at Summerslam.

I genuinely can't remember the last time I saw a PPV that good, I really hope AEW can continue this momentum. It really feels like I just witnessed a historical event in All Out finally becoming a Wrestlemania/Wrestle Kingdom level event.

The last time I spent money on a PPV, Brock beat 'Taker for the streak (and went on a monstrous run) and D-Bry won the title. Both of those things happened in the same night. Yeah...

This...this was amazing from beginning to end. How the hell are they going to keep this momentum going with an absolutely stacked roster?

Congratulations to everyone at AEW, sounded like a very successful night. That roster looks stacked now.

Cant believe WWE left Cole go, so much untapped potential.

Apparently it could've been Cole who didn't want to due to whole WWE and Twitch fiasco. Which if true, I can't blame him

Someone uploaded the full show on YouTube if anyone missed it.

Better watch it before take down inevitably comes

I would but until AEW becomes readily available for me, even if I liked Omega as Champion, I wouldn't, I don't like reaching out for individual shows as I feel like I'm missing quite a lot of story

Too late I guess they took it down.

Not gonna lie, all this AEW stuff makes me interested in wrestling again, I stopped watching shortly after Punk left

Pretty good Raw last night.

The main talking point was the tag team turmoil match but before that Lashley challenged Orton to a match and Orton accepted on the condition that it was for the title, Lashley and MVP then got involved in the tag team match which New Day and Viking Raiders started, New Day then eliminated the Raiders and then they took out Lucha House Party and Mace & T-Bar and the latter were not happy with being eliminated so they beat up Kingston & Woods plus Ali and Mansoor who were next in the match, chaos then reigned as officials tried to restore order and Pearce and Devile came out to saying the match would continue later, when the match resumed with New Day v Ali and Masoor in the main event bit and they had a really good segment until Woods pinned Mansoor and the next entrants were Styles and Omos, at this point New Day were in the match for 45 minutes and Woods took the brunt of it all, they all had a bit of back and forth until Styles put the Styles clash on Woods for the win and then out came Lashley and MVP and things got interesting from here because there was a bit were Lashley and Omos were in the ring together which the crowd was all over and Lashley actually over powered Omos for a little bit, it got a little all over the place a bit later though as a watching Orton and Riddle got themselves involved and it ended up with Styles aiming for the fore-arm on Lashley and missing and Lashley then hitting Styles with the spear for the win, and we get a raw tag title match next week between RK-Bro and Lashley & MVP. Omos then hit Lashley with his slam and Orton then RKO'ed Lashley too, and that's how Raw went off air.

So as you can tell from that long paragraph, it did take up quite a bit of the show and splitting the match in two was a bit weird but it worked, New Day were brilliant and I think Woods deserves some credit, their NWO inspired attire was great too.

In-between all that, we had a great match between McIntyre and Sheamus for US title number one contenders which Sheamus won via roll up and grabbing the tights, and I know we have seen then fight a lot before but they have great chemistry so I didn't mind, Charlotte faced Nia again but for the title this time and they had a more regular match, Charlotte retained after Shayna distracted Nia and the break up is definitely on for those two now and after that match Alexa Bliss challenged Charlotte to a title match. Nikki ASH and Rhea pinned Natalya and Tamina in a non title match. Kross destroyed Morrison in a couple of minutes. Reggie beat Tozawa in a 24/7 title match but afterwards in the rabble to fight for the title was Cedric Alexander, Shelton Benjamin and perhaps more shockingly Jeff Hardy! Drake Maverick also showed up as well.

Damien Priest v Sheamus and Charlotte v Alexa Bliss have both been made for Extreme Rules for the respective titles, I don't really like RK-Bro's first challengers for the titles being Lashley and MVP, I think its a bit strange as Lashley is already a champion.

I think the Tag Team title match next week is just to set up Lashley vs Orton further. Seems like a filler fued while we wait for Lashley vs Goldberg II. I don't like this style of writing of planning in advance one of matches with part timers so the actual roster will just be filler but at least this is a new advance in the RK-Bro storyline so I have that to be intrigued at.

Might even be turned into a Triple Threat if AJ and Omos interfere.

EDIT: Final episode of NXT before the rebrand to air soon, get them "Indy darling" kicks while you can

Not too much of a stretch to think that if one doesn't come back, the other leaves too. Given the history they have I think those two are bound by destiny to feud with each other until the sun explodes.

I would presume WWE has been careful to not rile up either of them, but then again I also thought Adam Cole was going to be their new hot topic going into next year, and look what happened there.

Do Kevin and Sami have Twitch channels?

Regardless, not gonna lie, I'd greatly miss Kevin Owens in WWE if he leaves for AEW. I wasn't too familiar back when he was Kevin Steen until he came to WWE but he quickly became my favourite wrestler ever. Not only his in ring work is impressive but the character he portrays is fantastic to watch whether face or heel and is very flexible between to 2 and it'll be a shame if I can't watch him (unless AEW becomes more accessible), though maybe he'll do even better at AEW (although the bloated roster at this point has me concerned)
