Dear God and I thought degrading the Elimination Chamber to a filler predictable escapade because they can't think of anything before Wrestlemania was bad enough

How annoying will Michael Cole sound when he’s announcing welcome to Wrestlemania Chamber like he does with all the other PPVs. Hopefully they don’t change it.

Remember Wrestlemania Backlash

Soon every PPV will have Wrestlemania in the title.

If they want to slam the word Wrestlemania everywhere, they should just keep the Fastlane name instead for Wrestlemania Fastlane. Fastlane was already made to be a (bad) reference to the "Road to Wrestlemania"

Roman said to Seth last night that he wouldn't choose him from Seth's household and he would've chosen Becky over him (Damn!) Usos tried to attack Seth from behind but Seth managed to escape.

Also during the night they showed SHEILD stuff to build up the face-to-face between the two, its now ten years since the SHIELD debuted and seven years since Seth cashed in at Wrestlemania to become WWE champ, where has the time gone?!?.

Elsewhere Viking Raiders won a fatal four way tag match to become number one contenders to Usos, Lita returned to Smackdown for the first time in nearly twenty years to build up her upcoming Rumble appearance and she said she had one more run in her and was interrupted by Charlotte (predictably) Lita hit her with a twist of fate, Both Sheamus and Sami Zayn declared themselves for the Rumble, Aliyah beat Natalya in a record time of 3.17 seconds in her first singles match, Xavier Woods is out for a few weeks with a calf injury and will miss the Rumble match but Kofi declared himself for it....then got pined by Madcap Moss.

Mustapha Ali has asked for his release from WWE.

An extremely talented man who has never really been used properly....

There's been a few occasions when it's looked like they're going to properly push Ali but then just never really followed through with it. Shame really.

I often wonder how many great champions we have missed out on in the last decade or so just because they haven't had a consistent push or an actual run with the belt.

Given what we had, Raw and Smackdown should've been fantastic shows week in and week out.

It really comes down to the writing being terrible and even untrustworthy. I think the average wrestling fan can be quite "fickle" but in terms of WWE I don't entirely blame them when they aren't even committed to their story ideas and either immediately change, release the wrestlers or forget about it all entirely.

WWE have confirmed that Elimination Chamber will take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Saturday 19th Feb, It wont be called 'Wrestlemania Chamber' or anything stupid like that. I have no problem with this news, the last Saudi show-Crown Jewel-was one of the best WWE shows last year, it certainly had one of the matches of 2021 with the hell in a cell match between Edge and Seth Rollins.

I mainly just don't like Elimination Chamber before Wrestlemania in general. Which doesn't really matter where it takes place . 2009 No Way Out and 2010 Elimination Chamber were the only good times the match happened in the February slot. With 2017s being OK

I always think Elimination Chamber as a concept is more suited between after Wrestlemania and before the next Royal Rumble. It gets too predictable where it's at right now with WWEs current storytelling motif and could easily be told in simple one on one matches instead

Main event on last nights Raw went to a DQ which is very WWE, it was between Lashley and Rollins and it was good for a while but then Benjamin and Alexander came out to attack Lashley and Usos then attacked Rollins from behind, no Lesnar last night but they did show an excellent video package of Lesnar and Lashley.

Maryse hit Beth Phoenix with a brick (!!), Alpha Academy had a 'graduation ceremony' which RK-Bro got involved in and they will get a rematch if the pass some sort of academic challenge on next weeks Raw, Bianca Belair and Liv Morgan have both declared for women's rumble match with Kevin Owens declaring for the men's match, there was a women's tag team opener which I think had a botched ending, Veer is still coming to Raw.

Cant really think of anything else of note, show wasn't as good a last weeks.

Walter has moved to NXT from NXT UK and they have given him a name change, its now Gunter and apparently his full name is now Gunter Stark, the reason why this is controversial is that there was a Gunter Stark who was a Nazi U-boat commander during WWII...

Also the fact the next Saudi show is called "Elimination Chamber" is also shaking some heads.

I don't normally think this way but WWE really need to be culturally aware of these things

WWE have dropped the Gunter Stark trademark probably because of the outcry, Walter's name now is Gunter with no surname.

Sami Zayn has signed a new multi year deal with the company.

Its been reported that WWE have no plans to release Mustapha Ali.

I feel like WWE never intended to really keep the Gunter Stark name long term, they just knew that it would stir up drama given the region and thought it would be clever to leverage it for publicity (it really isn't clever, given they've gotten negative press for things like this before).

Sami staying on isn't that surprising since Kevin is staying too. Those two have worked together so long it's kind of impossible to have one without the other.

I really hope they actually have a plan to do something with Ali if they're not going to release him, but odds are it's going to be some midcarder busywork that won't do a thing to build him up or let him really show off his full talent.

Seth Rollins mentioned Mox in his promo segment with Roman on Smackdown last night, Pat also mentioned his name on commentary a bit later.

Rollins and Kevin Owens had a tag match with the Usos in the main event with the stipulation being that if Rollins/Owens lost then Rollins would lose his title shot on Saturday and if they won then Usos would be banned from ringside from that match, it was a good match and it looked like Rollins would get the win but Roman came out to hit him with Superman Punch to cause a DQ, so now Usos are banned from ringside.

Owens wasn't the only person from Raw last night as Big E was there to give Kofi some back-up in his match with Madcap Moss, Sonya Devile made herself special guest ref for the Charlotte/Naomi match and screwed Naomi so they will face each other next week. Summer Rae made an appearance, as did Eric Bischoff and Jeff Jarrett.

More info about the Road to Wrestlemania show for next month in my town:

3 Matches so far (or two, depending on how quickly the recovery process is):
  • Bianca Belair vs Liv Morgan vs Becky Lynch for RAW Women's Championship
  • Big E vs Kevin Owens vs Seth Rollins vs Bobby Lashley
  • Drew McIntyre and The New Day vs The Bloodline

Opening segment last night was the Lesnar-Lashley weigh in which was a bit underwhelming, Lesnar was dressed like a cowboy and Cory Graves was presiding the weigh in and said to Brock 'that's not really the right attire for a weigh in' so Lesnar said to him 'Do you want me to get naked for you Corey?!' Lashley weighed in at 273 with Lesnar at 286 but I bet those weights were exaggerated.

There was also the academic challenge thing with with Alpha Academy and RK-Bro which was a lot of fun, it was a spelling bee which RK-Bro won after Gable got arrogant and got a word wrong and then that led to a really good match between Orton and Gable, Gable has been excellent lately, and because RK-Bro won the first challenge they got to choose the next one which will be a scooter race.

Elsewhere there were some great matches between Damien Priest and Kevin Owens for the US title and AJ Styles v Austin Theory, Priest and Owens had great chemistry and there were a lot of close near falls however match ended in a DQ as Priest went into his angry mode and wouldn't stop at the refs count of five. Styles v Theory was a superb match that was given a lot of time and it was back and forth, Styles won eventually but I'm very impressed by Theory in ring and it proves he can wrestle with the best.

main event segment was Maryse's birthday celebration (her birthday was actually Saturday) and whilst it was pretty good it was just build for the mixed tag at the Rumble on Saturday, speaking of the Rumble a bunch of people were added the men's Rumble match. Omos, Orton, Riddle, Otis, Gable, Ziggler and Roode all added.

Good go home show last night, great crowd too.

Also with that RKBro segment. Otis also spelled his word wrong forgetting an A but they rolled with it as if he got it right anyway

I was watching AEW earlier last night. It was "AEW Dynamite: Beach Break 2002" in Cleveland, Ohio. A few musings...

* I didn't see all of the match, but I saw a beautiful RKO-style cutter that Sammy Guevara (a Houston boy!) put on "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes. Cody then retaliated with a Cross-Rhodes on S. Guevara. It was a unification belt match. It was also incredibly physical. Awesome match!

* Wardlow (a Cleveland-area boy) took on Elijah Dean and James A.(?) in a 2-on-1 handicap match. Basically a couple of jobbers against "Mr. Mayhem" Wardlow.

* Chris Jericho, Santana(?), and Ortiz, teamed up to take on Daniel Garcia, 2Point0, and (JeffTheShow). Man- Chris Jericho's AEW theme is a rock banger! Fans even recite the song when he comes out!

* C.M. Punk greeted thr crowd in Cleveland prior to AEW returning to Chicago. He called out MJF, who some consider the best "heel" in professional wrestling today. C.M. Punk wanted him some of MJF. However, MJF wanted to take on C.M. Punk in Punk's native Chicago.

* Orange Cassidy and Adam Cole set it off tonight in a Lights Out unsanctioned match. Its ending was pretty... smashing, let's say.

Pretty cool episode! I meant to post this yesterday, but I didn't get to do so.

So the Royal Rumble is tomorrow night, have you guys got any predictions? Here's mine...

I think Seth Rollins will beat Roman Reigns for the Universal title, maybe due to an interference from Lesnar, Reigns will then enter the Rumble and win it, Lesnar will beat Lashley so that will set up Reigns v Lesnar at Wrestlemania, if none of that happens then the Rumble winner will be either Big E or Kevin Owens or maybe even Austin Theory if they really want to push him, as for the surprise entrants for the men's Rumble match well a few NXT guys are making their way over on to the dark matches and Main Event such as Ciampa, Pete Dunne, LA Knight and Roddy Strong so some of them if not all four will be in the match, plus Veer will be in the match too.

For the Women's match I did think that Bianca Belair will win it but in the last few days there has been reports that Ronda Rousey will make her return so I think she will enter and win it and then that will lead to her and Becky finally having that one-on-one match at Mania, I think there will be some ladies coming back from injury for the match such as Asuka, Bayley and Alexa Bliss and I think there will be something happening between Charlotte and Lita with either one eliminating the other which will lead to a match at Mania between the two, we have already seen the seeds planted for this a few weeks ago.

Either Reigns or Lesnar will lose the title I think. I can't predict which one but they are still trying to set off a love triangle storyline so I definitely see one of them losing it so they can go back to that program unless we're getting a Title Unification match.

As for the Royal Rumble, I really don't have a preference on the Men's or a prediction. I don't think either Reigns or Lesnar will enter the Rumble, that program is a done deal, they don't need the Rumble to face each other. I think they'll use the Royal Rumble for whoever will face Raws Champion.

For the Womens I really want Alexa Bliss to return and win then go on and face Charlotte, seems thatll be a perfect way for Bliss story arc after what happened with her and Charlotte. Have Alexa Bliss beat Charlotte as a way of finally moving on from Lily and her way back to normal. But if Ronda Rousey is returning, I definitely see her winning it

Rumble Picks are-

Men's
Who I want to win: Big E
Who I expect to win: legit open field, Big E seems likeliest
Ironman: Damian Priest @~50 minutes
Blink-and-miss: Happy Corbin at @~10 seconds
Most eliminations: Omos @ 6-8
Surprises: Since Impact Wrestling has let Mickie James show up in the women's Rumble, W. Morrissey shows back up as Big Cass. Also obligatory wanting a Tatanka (BUFFALO) or Gangrel entry.

Women's
Who I want to win: Liv Morgan
Who I expect to win: Bayley or Sasha Banks
Ironwoman: Bianca Belair @~1 hour
Blink-and-miss: Queen Zelina or Carmella @~30 seconds
Most eliminations: lolcharlotte @ 5-7
Surprises: No idea, only serious one I could think of on short notice is Alundra Blayze. Since WWE seems to be contacting anyone and everyone about a one-off appearance, this could be really silly and/or interesting. Because I have to be fair and pick a second surprise besides Bayley and/or Banks...um...draws name...Christy Hemme.

Here is the Royal Rumble card, posting a bit early as I'm busy this afternoon.

Edge and Beth Phoenix v The Miz and Maryse

Raw Women's Championship
Becky Lynch (c) v Doudrop

WWE Championship
Brock Lesnar (c) v Bobby Lashley

Universal Championship
Roman Reigns (c) v Seth Rollins

Women's Royal Rumble Match
Charlotte Flair, Nikki Bella, Brie Bella, Michelle McCool, Summer Rae, Kelly Kelly, Lita, Rhea Ripley, Naomi, Nikki ASH, Mickie James, Carmella, Zelina Vega, Shotzi, Tamina, Dana Brooke, Natalya, Aliyah, Shayna Baszler, Bianca Belair, Liv Morgan, Sasha Banks & Sonya Deville.

Men's Royal Rumble Match
Johnny Knoxville, Rey Mysterio, Dominik Mysterio, Angelo Dawkins, Montez Ford, Austin Theory, Sheamus, Damien Priest, AJ Styles, Big E, Happy Corbin, Madcap Moss, Sami Zayn, Kofi Kingston, Kevin Owens, Randy Orton, Riddle, Omos, Chad Gable, Otis, Dolph Ziggler, Robert Roode, Rick Boogs, Shinsuke Nakamura & Ricochet.

Seven spaces left in the women's rumble match with five spaces in the men's match, Sasha Banks returned to Smackdown last night and declared herself for the women's match.

A lot of stuff about Ronda Rousey today and her return is now 'imminent'. Good Smackdown last night with Seth getting under Roman's skin and a really good match between Naomi and Sonya Deville, it was given a lot of time and both ladies were good.

I let you guys know of any changes to the card.
