Does Anyone Watch Wrestling? (WWE, AEW, TNA, NWA, etc)

The McMahon is kicking in :P

Jokes aside I remember years ago when he was considered the nice one amongst other wrestlers
Yeah, same...but it very could be his inner McMahon finally erupted. Not being in his head, it could also have been a way to get out of the company ASAP, this could have been something that HHH and others were able to keep under wraps and we finally saw what he's really about, the only one who knows WHY has been outright fired without any ceremony or "future endeavors" BS. I've seen people compare this to the reports of Bray Wyatt and Keith Lee being "difficult to work with" but this was far different. Reports started coming out within A DAY, from multiple sources, and they all told similar stories even when the specific subjects were different...and most damning, he was still employed, and penciled into the Elimination Chamber. Like...holy 🤬, man! If this is a genuine change in his mentality, that worries me badly as maybe all the stunts have caught up to him in short order...if this was intentional, then...it might be the same problem, just a different route.

So I wont be able to watch Raw, Smackdown or NXT for much longer. I can explain but its a bit long winded...
Regardless of why, that sucks.

Goldberg returned to Smackdown last night and challenged Roman Reigns to a title match at Elimination Chamber, and that match has been made. Before this Paul Heyman gave an explanation as to why he turned his back on Brock Lesnar and it was also a reminder as to why Heyman is so good on the mic.

Ronda Rousey has chosen to face Charlotte Flair at Mania and that match has been made, it was a bit of a swerve as Charlotte initially said that Rousey had chosen Becky and Charlotte could chose her opponent, Charlotte chose Sasha Banks (who wasn't on the show) until Rousey came out to challenge Charlotte, they were going to go at it but Deville intervened and got put in the armbar by Rousey for her trouble, the whole segment was much better than the Raw one involving Rousey.

McIntyre made his SD return and claymored Madcap Moss, they will fight at the Chamber PLE, also made for that show is Sami Zayn finally getting his IC title match v Nakamura (Nakamua actually defending it!) and Usos v Viking Raiders for the tag titles, for some reason Naomi will get a women's title match v Charlotte next week.

Bit of a mess of a show at times last night with a lot of two or three minute matches, cant really think of anything else interesting that happened.

So this was likely the last time I can Smackdown for a while at least, the reason is that WWE weekly coverage in the UK is on BT Sport which is a subscription service, and they have put their price up recently and will do it again in a few months and I just cant afford it, its sad as I have been watching Raw and Smackdown (with NXT on occasion) for at least a decade. This could change so lets see what happens in the next few weeks/months.

An update on the Road to Wrestlemania show tomorrow night:

The two main events have been modified:
  • Bianca Belair vs Liv Morgan vs Doudrop vs Becky Lynch for the RAW Women's Championship
  • Big E, Kofi Kingston and Seth Rollins vs The Bloodline
Nothing else about what other matches are going to be shown, but I'll give a report after.

Not bad seats for $25

Intermission at the moment, but here's what happened so far (Bold are winners):

  • Riddle vs Chad Gable with Otis
  • Bianca Belair vs Liv Morgan vs Doudrop vs Becky Lynch (c)
After Intermission:
  • Ricochet vs Austin Theory
  • Naomi vs Charlotte Flair (c) with Sonya Deville as referee
  • Big E, Kofi Kingston and Seth Rollins vs The Bloodline

Hope you enjoyed it pal, was it good?
Had a blast! Brought my brother with me and he had fun too. The first match started as a Miz TV segment with KO and he was just roasting our city comparing it to the wood chairs he set up. Kevin then gave praise to the chair and the city. During the match we were just chanting "Chair".

After the Naomi/Flair match, she managed to rip off Sonya's ref shirt and started beating the crap out of her. Everyone enjoyed it.

We also Acknowledged The Tribal Chief ☝

There will be a second Elimination Chamber match at the PLE in a couple of weeks, its a Raw one involving the women where the winner will get a Raw women's title opportunity at Mania against Lynch/Lita, the competitors are Doudrop, Liv Morgan, Nikki ASH, Rhea Ripley, Bianca Belair and a mystery opponent likely to be Asuka.

Speaking of Lynch/Lita they had a little segment in which Lynch had a great line 'Without Lita there would be no Becky Lynch but now there is a Becky Lynch there can be no Lita'. Lita then hit here with a twist of fate and a moonsault from the top rope, she is 46 years old!

RK-Bro won the 'Quiz-Bowl in the opening segment against Alpha Academy meaning they now get a tag title shot with another reminder that Chad Gable is the best thing on the show, Riddle then faced Seth Rollins in the main event in a first time ever match which sadly went to DQ after Owens got involved, it then turned into a tag match, Owens was on double duty last night having beaten Austin Theory earlier in the show.

Raw was on SYFY last night and will be next week too as the Winter Olympics is on USA, the first hour was commercial free last night but WWE did show their commercials, and there was only 10 minutes of actual wrestling during that opening hour.

The segment with The Miz and Rey Mysterio was great. The Miz digging to that 15 year old storyline to get under the Mysterios skin was great heel work

AEW was in Atlantic City, New Jersey tonight for AEW Dynamite. Some musings to follow...

* I'm pretty impressed on AEW with Wardlow and The Blade. Wardlow is a bad dude.

* I didn't catch the fellow's name or likeness, but someone from New Japan Pro Wrestling arrived and attacked someone in the garage area.

* I saw big bad (fellow Texan!) Keith Lee on AEW tonight! WWE are dopes for letting this guy go. Then too... you can probably say that about a lot of the top-level talent WWE let go of or have others request their release. "Limitless" Keith Lee was DOMINANT in his match.

* Now I am realizing Dean Ambrose and Jon Moxley are one in the same. He went from The Shield in WWE to bad (you-know-what) Jon Moxley in AEW. CM Punk and Jon Moxley teamed up to take on FTR. It was an awesome match with neither team wanting to lose!

* AQA om AEW. This 25-year old lady apparently was trained by WWE Hall of Famer Booker T. She, though, had to take on bad babe and AEW Women's champion, 26-0 Jade Cargill. Jade is an absolute specimen. If ever there was a cross-promotional battle, I'd love to see Jade take on Bianca Belair or maybe even Charlotte Flair. AQA put up a fight, but not enough to knock off the TBS Championship. Jade 27-0 now.

* The AEW World Championship was on the line in a Texas Death Match between champion Hangman Page and Lance Archer. For what I know, you only win by knockout or submission. No disqualification. The "knockout" rule is kind of like a Last Man Standing match. This was a brutal match with both guys having bloodied faces. The top turnbuckles were ripped off, leading only the middle and bottom ropes. This was a straight up brawl.

* I can probably say the biggest heel in pro wrestling right now is MJF. Mr. Maxwell Jacob Freidman. I still remember that wicked time where he made fun of Cincinnati.

Musings over. Good show from Atlantic City for this latest AEW Dynamite.

I think its fair to say that WWE messed up with Keith Lee....and Karrion Kross.

I've rewatched the Keith Lee match many times already. It wasn't a polished match, but I can't recall the last time I watched someone be thrown into orbit. Add his athleticism and confidence and...Damn Vince, you could have just told him who to fight and get out the way, but no. I do think he was a bit rusty, but I'm just grateful he was able to shrug off WWE's sabotage attempts.

I don't know if the WWE is downsizing or anything, but it's becomnig criminal the talent that got let go from WWE. If may come to a point where the WWE may be struggling to stay relevant. There may even be a point where the AEW will proberly overtake WWE race in the race for pro wrestling supremacy (so to speak).

When I looked up Karrion Kross randomly on Google, I read something about budget cuts as to why the WWE let go of a number of decent wrestlers lately. Pro wrestling is a business, after all. If budget cuts are why talent is being let go, it makes you wonder what the WWE can do to make more money and retain some of its better talent.

However WWE report record breaking profits a lot now. They definitely aren't in financial trouble

Shoot, I realized that I won't be able to watch Elimination Chamber live because I'll be on a plane to Florida...

Anyway, about time that there was a decent Naomi/Flair match without interference. The show starts with Sonya with a sling on her arm about to fine and suspend Rousey until Adam Pearce informed her that Mr. McMahon has declined both requests. He also says that she will not interfere with Naomi's match or there will be severe consequences.

Okay matches and segments throughout the show. Natalya finally got a win over Aliyah and started post-match beating until Xia Li runs out to help Aliyah.

Sami's show involved Nakamura and Boogs. Boogs was going to grab the mic when he got shocked by it. This was followed up by a Helluva Kick to Nakamura.

The McIntyre/Madcap match is now Falls Count Anywhere. Corbin won against Cesaro.

Los Lutharios picked up a win over Kofi and Big E.

There was also a segment with Cole giving questions to Reigns with him saying that he's going to "Goldberg" Goldberg, whatever that means...

Then there's the Naomi/Flair match I talked about earlier. Charlotte retained before she and Sonya started to attack Naomi. Rousey then rushes out and put Deville in another armbar with her other arm. Flair pulled her out before any more damage was inflicted, and the show ends.

I might have missed something, but I think this is the majority of the show.

So Big E is a Smackdown superstar and is back to just being in Tag Team matches after losing to Brock Lesnar.

I was joking that Big E run was similar to Kofi Kingston's WWE...

Was out with my parents, Smackdown happened to be on a TV, and...was it me or did the match just look bad? I didn't get to Sonya, but what I did watch was such a slow, plodding display. Charlotte did more antagonizing the crowd than she did fight Naomi. I did miss a lot of the match, but is that the level WWE is actually putting out regularly?

Women's tag team match added to Elimination Chamber, Naomi & Ronda Rousey v Sonya & Charlotte.

This is pretty big actually, its a show in Saudi Arabia that now has three Women's matches...12 women competing in total.

For the first two shows they had in Saudi they weren't allowed to put women's matches on, so some real progress has been made there.

For the first time, I saw a full episode of "AEW Rampage." I saw last night's show, held in Atlantic City, NJ, and here are some thoughts of mine...

* The night began with an awesome match between the Young Bucks and Roppongi Vice. It was a long-winded match where it felt like nobody wanted to lose. It was instant classic-worthy.

* There was a pretty good women's match involving Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. against Robyn Renegade.

* I was SO impressed with Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus, the AEW Tag Team Champions. They took on the Gunn Club in a fiercely-contested tag team match.

A note for you AEW fans, the next AEW Rampage will be on at 7 PM Eastern on Friday next week. So you could enjoy AEW Rampage followed by WWE Friday Night SmackDown! next Friday. It's usually SmackDown! then Rampage.

Got a spoiler for you guys, isn't a big surprise though.

WWE recorded next weeks Smackdown after last night's live one, one reason for this is they need to travel to Saudi for EC next Saturday which is fair enough, IC title match between Nakamura and Sami Zayn is advertised for the taped show....and Sami won it so he is the new Intercontinental Champion.

This is no surprise to me as Nakamura's run as champ has been a dud as he never defended it, and Sami deserves it lets be honest.

Not that I would blame it on Nakamura. They really wanted to highlight his partner so they kept putting them in Tag Team matches. They fit better going after the Smackdown Tag Team Championships

I might be able to watch Elimination Chamber after all. I am flying Southwest, so I could pay extra for WiFi.

Word getting out that Cody Rhodes might be done with AEW.
Its clearly a quick moving situation as since you posted that Cody, Brandi and Tony Khan have all released statements pretty much confirming it. Loads of rumours that he is already talking to WWE.

Also in the last 12 hours or so there have been reports that Stone Cold could return for a match at Mania, WWE have apparently been making advances.

Its been a pretty wild 12 hours!

Certainly an interesting day

The return-to-WWE thread begins to ring true when you take into account Rhodes' profressional beef with HHH, with him seemingly getting boxed out of any truly influential positions in the company; perhaps this would sweeten the deal. And considering his executive position in AEW, one wonders if he could make a lateral move to the other company, providing the offer is made of course

If the nail in the coffin was truly a financial impasse, I think we can confidently say that AEW, at this point, does not need Cody and Brandi as much as Cody and Brandi need AEW
