Does the Deluge of New Hypercars Hint at a Return for GT1 Racing?

So basically what Toyota did a bit ago:

If they will Bop hypercars big brands will not be interested to race. I can somehow remotely undrestand Bop in GtPro but with hypercars would be plain stupid.

Faster car wins. End of Bs.

I am not in favour of this Idea I want a sort of DPI I can't see how this class can work budgets will be LMP1 high it will be a BOP nightmare. Look at the success formula E is having let the manufactures build the engines and buy the chassis. If you could create a early 1990's F3000/IndyCar style championship that would be perfect for WEC privateers and factory teams could actually race rather than getting lapped every hour.

It's factually incorrect. From 1994 onwards the top class of sportscar racing was Group GT1. And even then, Group C had been in decline for the three to four years before that.

But from 1982-1989 it was the top class and even rivalled Formula One in attendance and popularity.
Techically LMP was, just that Manufactuers went to GT1 at the time instead, the prototype class existed the whole time but didn't have anywhere near the money spent on cars in that class despite it being the surpiror regulation.
