Why would a dog be different to a cow, TheKitten? Do they have different levels of sentience? No different than consuming a sea-cucumber; it may be a cultural thing to view meat other than chicken as palatable.

But apart from the compassion towards animals which you are displaying (and which I'm all for - since compassion is a wise and wonderful thing) I would take it (as many others would) that Matski was making a light-hearted jest in the spirit of the thread.

I have found GTPlanet to be not only fanatical discussions of drifting, tuning, politics, and religion, but also a place where one can sometimes discuss a situation in a 'not-so-serious' manner.

For some of us there is more to this. It's actually an important event.
Why?
In the media we have a famous saying: Dog Bites Man! = not news. Man Bites Dog = news.

Now from that context view this thread. Dog shoots man? WTF?

As you may expect - the POVs on this range from downright ridiculous to the absolute sublime.

I'm still wondering if it was a Fire Dog. In any case it is guilty of illegal possession. I'm only hoping it wasn't a disgruntled bitch, because she wouldn't have a leg to stand on. (Back to Matski's joke ;))

It was a mistake not to detain that dog. I think I will get rid of all my dogs because they can't be trusted around my guns and knives. Especially that white dog, she's crafty.

Because me no like dogs.

Dogs are living things, but then so were a lot of things I/we eat, or wear. I'm guessing the reason why more of the planet doesn't eat dog is because they don't taste very good (or do they, have we tried all the breeds?), and they can't be farmed cost effectively, either that or its thanks to the hypocrisy of mankind.

A pet dog has accidentally shot its owner with a pistol.

Gregory Dale Lanier, from the US town of Frostproof in central Florida, was driving his pickup truck on Saturday night when his dog accidentally kicked the .380 lying on the floor.

The gun went off and shot the 35-year-old in the leg.

"Lanier said he heard a boom, saw smoke and felt a burning in his leg," a police spokesman told Highlands Today.

Mr Lanier, who was not seriously injured, told police he did not realise the gun was loaded.

The dog was not detained.
