GTR's are famed for driving on rails, this one has these bursts of wheelspin when exiting a corner and touching the throttle with your little toe, so it doesn't feel right.

Did 4 laps with AI, and i was oversteering a bit in 2nd gear corners, had a bit of wheelspin but over laps i was able to be more smooth. I had a bit of understeer on some corners. Plus i was tired. Ill do more laps today, and see how it goes. Its a bit squirmy entering hard under braking.

AI are legit smarter :D. They have knowledge of your presence, they are able to pass clean. They quite aggressive, but not aggressive enough.

I quite enjoyed doing a 4 lap race at Nurburgring in GT3's quite had to keep on my toes. but had a blast. First lap i was able to do a 6:55, which i could improve alot, since i was a bit lousy and did silly mistakes. But the GTR is rewarding, when you find its soft side

I didn't play any last night because my DFGT is thoroughly annoying me. Found a lightly used G27 on craigslist for $150, going to pick it up tomorrow. I also need to figure out how to record replay videos for upload to YouTube.

If you have an Nvidia card you should be able to use Shadowplay.

Wiz
AMD has their own version of ShadowPlay now. http://www.amd.com/en-us/markets/game/downloads/raptr

As an Nvidia user, I don't know much about it.
Eww. I installed that once and unninstalled right away after just 1 match in a game I was playing.

That is suposed to help you optimize your games. For some reason game became unplayable even without choosing that option to optimize. So for me that is total garbage. Thats just my opinion though.

I went back to GT6's Nordschleife today, for comparisons sake. The cambers, curbs, elevations and corner radii all seem effectively identical. I am completely convinced that PD built their Nordschleife using a point cloud.

What is also apparent is that GT6's FFB and memory limits on the track model are the main drawbacks. AC's Nordschleife is easier to learn because each corner has the correct unique look, whereas in GT6 they clearly had to make compromises in terms of unique trackside objects to fit it into the PS3's capabilities. Nonetheless, PD really did a great job getting as close as they did, and practice in either game carries effortlessly over to the other one (assuming you run GT6 with realistic tyres of course!).

To summarize: While AC's Nordschleife is a work of art (and judging by videos utterly true to life), GT6's Nordschleife is even more impressive given the tools PD had to work with (PS3). Well done to both of them!

I wondered that about gt's nurb too, after hearing they did use scan in some more recent tracks. While I haven't driven gt in a long while, and prolly never will again (on ps3 atleast), kunos' track in basic layouts seemed very similar indeed. So very good job from pd in that (wish I could say the same on some recent non-track stuff they do..)

Still I rate Kunos' work higher overall, just because of their very small team size. :)

If PD did laser scan the nords for GT, Sony would have been all over Microsofts and T10's comments about having the first laserscanned Nords in any racing game. Just look at how Sony acted when the X1 and PS4 where announced over been able to hand over a physical copy of a game.

If that's the only reason you would rate AC as better than GT, then we must be playing two different games.

Physics, track/car accuracy, and to a lesser extent sound, that's about it really. I'd still choose AC 9 times out of 10, but outside of the raw driving experience it's rather underwhelming. Great for hotlapping, great proof of concept, but still a very long way to go. Just my opinion, of course, your results may vary.

PD is not Sony. They tend not to yell about such things.

I suspect PD's most recent tracks (Ascari, Spa, Bathurst, Brands Hatch) and Nordschleife are all laser scanned. The track surface is much less smooth than their older tracks, which is a pretty good giveaway that they used a point cloud somewhere (maybe not fully, but at least somewhat).

Sony own PD, and although PD dont brag; Sony as a corporation do

IMO:

Is GT5-6 Nords LS?, probably yes, but not LS as we know it today. It has to many flaws and inaccuracies to be LS. LS tracks on par with iRacing or AC in GT6 are Bathurst, Silverstone, Ascari.

I'd sure like to copy/paste Ascari into AC. It was my favourite track in the entire GT series, outside of the Nordschleife but it didn't seem to get a lot of love from the GT fanbase. I'd like to see how a truly laserscanned version would play on a sim.:eek:

The first turn ruined it for me, I never hosted a race there because I knew it would be a schmozel. The rest of the track was nice.

I really miss Ascari now that I don't race GT6 any more...

Yeah, lots of things to fix in the core game still. Also in MP, the thing that the tyres are stuck to the ground if you see a car get some air.

So we are getting the wonderful sweepers of Zandvoort for free but they want us to pay for the stunningly ordinary Circuit of Catalunya? :odd:

Maybe it only sucks with modern F1. I hope we get the version without the F1 change at the end of the lap.

I can't complain, I still haven't experienced everything in the first Dream Pack, so more cars & tracks will keep me plenty busy.

Though it'll be interesting to see how P.CARS is settling with me by then, and if I find myself torn between the two.
