Yes it's official they could of released it months ago without the online features. Stinks imo.
I don't think so. The article suggests that as they had to re-write the code completely. They had to re-think how to approach it as a result if they wanted to roll-out the PS+ release in a safe way. So the ability to turn off online and still leave the game functional became available a little while ago now. Before then we wouldn't have got updated leaderboard and XP until the servers were back up.Yes it's official they could of released it months ago without the online features. Stinks imo.
Unknown, I would guess that the price isn't going to go up though.Correct - he is referring to the sale price of $25 for the full game, wondering if that sale will be around for awhile.

Show me were it says they had to completely re-write the code because I don't see that. It says they don't want to overload the servers so are only allowing offline to start with then will turn it on gradually. Again why couldn't they have released the ps+ version without online months ago? Not getting at you personally but I'm pretty sure it was not to harm sales which I don't blame them for but they shouldn't make promises they can't keep. On a separate issue I've been following their commitment to drive club after a difficult release and must commend them in that department. Having fun with Project cars at mo but will probably give the ps+ version ago when it's released in the UK.
“It’s just the number of people the server couldn’t handle,” he said. “The stress-testing was not designed correctly. So it was the oversight. So the team had to go back to the drawing board in terms of server code. And they have been re-factoring and re-engineering server-side to be able to have more people play the game at the same time.”
This wasn’t a bug, which might have been an easy fix. The game’s server architecture was crafted improperly, and it required Sony completely reevaluating how it handles multiplayer.
Actually, I forgot that the relevant bit was in another article: http://kotaku.com/sony-explains-what-went-wrong-with-driveclub-1713614101
Is the DLC coming out this Monday?
Fair enough. I didn't have time to explain this fully yesterday, but if you wanted an explanation on why I think this, you can read on:Yes that explains they had server problems which are well documented, it doesn't explain why they could not release the ps+ version without the online feature which they are doing now. We will have to agree to disagree on this I think.
Since the PS Plus version of this is out and I have a PS4, expect me to join you guys very soon. Just don't expect any good driving since it'll be via pad because you jnow...no G27 support and all that....
Well abit bummed about that, but I'll still try it.
Online is being rolled out cautiously for the PS+ players, they'll be online soon....Edit: can't ps plus editioners play online? what's with the PS plus edition rooms then?
Fair enough. I didn't have time to explain this fully yesterday, but if you wanted an explanation on why I think this, you can read on:
Consider the issues with XP collation and leader boards updating after the server down times, how they populated again as you'd expect, when the connection was restored. Also, I don't know if you've played the game but it sometimes took quite a while to do this, and that earned them flak.
My feeling is that they saw how the game could operate offline, but only after they had got the re-write far enough to run in a stable fashion. Back at the start though, that game code had all of the leader board and challenge connection built into it, apparently a highly complex bit of work. Those they had to turn off too and that possibly was very likely an early phase of the game code re-write, so enabling them to cut those parts out without crashing the game.
All of these got turned back on when they could, something like a month after launch. The rest has been rewritten since and they feel that the game can cope now with the numbers anticipated. Now it is possible to release what you are suggesting, but only as a result of the re-write. That option wasn't on the table for them back then.
True, this is me reading between the lines a bit, but I have been following posts about the game and updates quite religiously throughout, as I've found the whole thing quite fascinating.
I actually gave a few of those rooms a go and there were some level 1 players in there, as well as other levels - I felt quite bad about leaving them in the dust, especially as I was in pole position at the start. Still, the next race I got thoroughly put into a wall and spun around by another....Edit: can't ps plus editioners play online? what's with the PS plus edition rooms then?
Have fun....I'm downloading it now ( big download) so will try it soon.

.
It seems it's a roll out phase.

Maybe they're letting more DLC cars into the mix online? I was able to select my Club Bonus car at the hot hatch level, which was a bit unfair of me considering I know the tracks very well....I don't understand why I was allowed to use a lamborghini veneno against the rest of the field using the koenigsegg agera r...
Might be what you suggested then I was just a bit confused considering it was an event mark as PS+ and I doubt the people trying them events have bought any DLC. Its unfair considering most DLC cars have better stats and like you I know my way on the tracks (most of the races were dark morning)Maybe they're letting more DLC cars into the mix online? Interestingly, and possibly related, I saw on Twitter that the PS+ players also have the start-line tour, which means they can drive other cars and tracks within those confines. Nice touch I thought, also of course from a marketing perspective.
Yeah, it's going to be a bit of a baptism by fire for them alrightMight be what you suggested then I was just a bit confused considering it was an event mark as PS+ and I doubt the people trying them events have bought any DLC. That one is **** up one haha also that reventon on bhrView attachment 397871
I did it! Finally! Just a short recap and a little tale about how it happened.
I was trying to complete all tours, but this damn event was so freaking hard. Then I rage quited on it and kept collecting all the other stars. Last night (friday) I was getting my things ready for my usual long morning run on Saturday. (Training for a half marathon) and I got my pre run meal done. While I waited for the meal to get on a cool temperature so I could put it in the refrigerator I decided to give it a try and 5 minutes later, bang! Done! All tours completed. All trophies achieved. All stars (minus the Venom Hot Lap) conquered.
Fully agree. In view of all that, it really shouldn't be a surprise to people that the AI is a 'little feisty' in DC tooInteresting indeed. DC has by far the best weather effects I've ever experienced, and they are working on ramping them up. I've always liked Evolution as a dev. I think they are very smart the way they approach things. The first Motorstorm was a revelation in arcade racing for me. It was so brutal and so much fun, had a nice balance between realism and arcade fun in it's physics, and the graphics were incredible in it's day. It was the first game I played on ps3, and one of the big reasons I bought a ps3, because I was blown away with how cool it was.
They're quite high on my list of favourite devs for the way they approach game making. Very fun, and very cool games. I'd love to see another Motorstorm title to go alongside Driveclub on my PS4. I'd definitely buy it.
Just playing from yesterday, reached level 15. First impressions ; fun and entertainning game. I am not used playing arcade games but I really enjoy this one 👍

I'm definitely interested is seeing what they bring out for the weather improvements. I did think that they might go for their original idea of a rally title, but in view of the veritable flood of rally games over the coming six months, I think you might well get another Motorstorm instead...and then a rally style title in the vein of DC: pure speculation, but fun nonetheless.
