Last night had a friend over to try some DC VR. He got sick at the first corner, so we had to revert to the non-VR Driveclub.
Which still isn't a punishment.

Yes you need to make up the middle section:P I'm actually leading Denur until the last turn/corner section, that sweeping turn and wall gets me on every good lead I had, and I end up in an arm wrestle, I am sure I could be top if it wasn't for that damn wall on the left:mad:..Oh well 400th of second between Top 3 of us isn't bad going. I do like these Sprints ever since they came out on the original DC.

I will forward other sprint races. very very challenging. Cannot beat the time. Hopefully you have a better touch with the track in the Caterham. But first F1 Brazil

If you're not British then this will be over your heads, but just had a online race and one of the dudes name was 'TescoLager'

The mind boggles, it really does (oh and he came last by the way)

I saw a TescoBlackPudding at the top of an Evo challenge leaderboard a few months back. It seems Tesco are really stepping up their game when it comes to product placement. :D

I wish I could spend more time on DC(VR), but my back is killing me. :grumpy:

Hi all,

I got a PS4 Pro over the weekend and was thinking of some games to pick up.

How is Driveclub these days?

In case none of you know me I've been a hardcore Forza player over the past few years, generally preferring Motorsport to Horizon but getting 100% completion in both.

I read that Driveclub now has a "simulation mode" which changes the handling model. How would that setting compare to a typical Forza game?

Also, how are the trophies in general, anything glitchy or overly "grindy"?

And a final question: What's the difference between the PS Plus and regular versions of the game?

Thanks in advance for any replies :)

Driveclub is a no-brainer if you like racing games, the simulation mode isn't as complex as Forza's but I find it to be pretty decent, trophies will take time but doable for the platinum.

DC is a great pick-up-and-play racer.

The "simulation mode" is really just a Hardcore setting that just disables the driving aids as the physics are still much on the arcade side.

The Elite challenges tend to be quite grindy in terms of gathering fame points the higher the driver level you are.

PS Plus version only includes India as a location with all it's original tracks, excluding the recent urban circuits, 15 cars and 27 trophies with the ability to still Platinum. However it was removed as a free download in October last year.

The full version is the full package with Scotland, Canada, Norway, Chile, India and Japan with all the new Urban tracks in the most recent update as well as all the vanilla cars. The season pass includes loads of new tours and car packs and is dirt cheap.

Also there's a Bikes expansion as well.

Thanks.

I found last night that I wasn't allowed to buy the regular version of the game as I already owned PlayStation Plus.

Instead I picked up "Driveclub Full Game PlayStation Plus Edition" for £12. I'm presuming that's got everything outside of DLC since it says "Full Game" ;)

I few things are not included in this edition and need to be bought seperately:
  • Bikes Extensions & Bikes DLC
  • No-Limits DLC
  • Finish-Line DLC

Got it.

I see that Driveclub Bikes has a separate trophy list (as does VR), so if I don't get it I won't miss out on the regular game's Platinum. :)

To add to what has already been said. I really recommend getting all the car DLC, as it transforms a decent car rooster into a superb one. The bikes add on is pretty fun as well.

Hardcore mode isn't as advanced as actual sims, but it does a good job at representing the weight of the cars better. The biggest downfall of hardcore mode are the penalties that slow you down if you so much as scrape the wall. Hardcore mode could've been brilliant, but they botched it by half assed implementation, meaning no separate challenge system for HC mode and absurd penalties.

It took me a month to get the Platinum trophy, and that required a fair bit of grinding. Still, the game does a good job at constantly moving you towards a goal.

There's smaller subset clubs by GTP members, but no official GTP club as a whole due to the 6 member club limit.
Okay, just spotted the member limit. (Forza Horizon 3 has 1000 player clubs)

I'll just make my own so I have a simple custom livery I can apply to all cars.

Would anyone here be able to help me with this Trophy?

Win 5 of your own Solo Challenges after sending them to at least one other player.

I just need to send out 5 challenges to somebody without having to create a second PSN account.

Thanks in advance :)

Hi PJ. I'm not sure if you can create a livery for your club until at least one other person has joined it. I might be wrong about that, but the 'five club cars' won't be available to you without another club member.

Like you suggested, that can be another account on your PS4.

You can send me the challenges if you like PSN is the same as my forum name) - set them to expire in twelve hours and I'll do them tomorrow morning.

Thanks for the tips; still figuring my way around the menus and features, learning as I go of course. It looks like I can save custom liveries anyways without being in a club; I joined one of the Top 50 clubs as there was a spot open, automatically upped my Drivel Level to 30

I'll add you and send challenges, thanks for the help.

Challenges are up; I presume that if you don't beat my times I won't have to re-run them.

That is correct - barring anyone else jumping in and having a go (doesn't happen too often) you should get that trophy tomorrow evening.

And no worries about the help - it's that kind of community here :)

Cheers, thanks :)

It looks like the rest of the trophy lost can be accomplished on my own, just wanted to get all the online stuff out of the way before diving in to Single Player :)

Also, one thing I found out already: Non-Hardcore handling seems much faster than Hardcore. I started with Hardcore and although I had the car well under control I was still 3 seconds a lap slower than with Hardcore off.

Yeah, non-Hardcore is sort of like running with SRF in GT6.

I've been playing this again lately too; I'll add you to get that trophy done. I need it too, actually!

Sure thing.

Make 5 Solo Challenges and add me as a rival on each, I'll do them within 24 hours. The ones that @MeanElf helped put with require me to finish in first as I hosted them.

Try to keep them to basic cars as well as I haven't unlocked many.

Cheers, thanks :)

Worth noting that the game's tour mode wasn't made with Hardcore in mind PJ, same goes for you @SlipZtrEm - some of the Time Trial times may be near impossible to get 3 stars on.

I've never really gelled with Hardcore mode, the time penalty for touching walls seemed a bit excessive and ruins the flow of the game for me.

Hardcore Mode is as @Brend said, it is not made for the single player tours. I think it is best to see it as a nice bonus. I adds an additional layer of difficulty but it hasn't been completely refined.

The single player campaign offers so much variation that it is a real joy to play. Be prepared though, there are some pretty tough ones :D
