Hardcore Mode is as @Brend said, it is not made for the single player tours. I think it is best to see it as a nice bonus. I adds an additional layer of difficulty but it hasn't been completely refined.

The single player campaign offers so much variation that it is a real joy to play. Be prepared though, there are some pretty tough ones :D
Venom Hot Lap.

I think I'll keep Hardcore off in any case; I'm seeing this game as a PGR-like arcade experience and am okay with a more forgiving handling model. I've already done DiRT Rally this year, so that's my "simulation fix" sorted :)

About the Hardcore mode: As a wheel driver I find drifting to be easier in hardcore mode. In normal mode it is near impossible (for me) to get three stars in some of the challenges.

Only been playing a week and am already making rapid progress. In terms of trophies this is all I have left to get in the base game:

I'm tempted to try out the additional Tour events from the various DLC packs, and maybe Driveclub Bikes as well.

I have no interest in VR although I did try out Driveclub VR at work, the fear of motion sickness makes me not enjoy anything I do in VR.

If I buy this Season Pass, what do I not get? Just trying to figure out the extra cost:

The only events outside the season pass are FINISH LINE and NO LIMITS. Also some cars are outside the season pass
Cars aren't a big deal, so long as I can get all the Trophies :)

Thanks for the tip.

So if I buy Season Pass + Finish Line + No Limits I'll have all of the (non-bike) events then and can get all of the Trophies?

Yes, that's right. As a trophy hunter (that's what your questions say about ya), your main concern will be gettin' every event 3 starred. Driveclub Bikes has a separate list. An easy one, if you ask me. Maybe the online trophy might be hard for the lobbies are less busy nowadays

Cheers.

I've found it easy to 3-star every Tour event so far, and while the game isn't amazing it's still fun enough to keep me interested.

And yes, I like getting Achievements/Trophies :)

Trophies for Finish Line + No Limits are part of bikes, because they ran out of space on the main game.

Your progress on stars and the elite challenges will be limited by not getting bikes.

The main tour is easy 'til the last few. The packs ramp up quicker.

Finished the main Tour tonight with all Stars unlocked. As mentioned before it was pretty easy, the only real challenge coming from the Hennessy Venom hotlap event, mainly because that car hates corners :P

I'll pick up the Season pass next but I'm wondering, is there a chance it will go on sale soon due to Black Friday?

There's another Venom hot lap in one of the DLC tours I just did recently that seemed even harder!

I forgot to send those challenges to you last week and see you've already completed the trophies. Doh!

I'd give it a 50/50 chance of the Season Pass getting a BF-based discount. It's gone on sale pretty often over the last year, so maybe they'll do it again. Even at full price, it's not a bad deal. I wouldn't say I'm a massive fan of the game — the Horizon series has tempered my arcade-racer expectations compared to if I had stayed a Sony-exclusive man — but you're right, it is fun to just get stuck into the game for chunks of time.

If you still need the trophy send over the 5 challenges anyway. :)

@PJTierney Well done on getting all first tour 225 hard gold stars so quick, when it was released quite a few struggled with all the gold stars they then introduced silver stars (easy) setting. Harder challenges to come on the DLC ;)👍

Cheers, nothing too tricky in the original set.

That Wombat in the DLC though, which crazy person decided that KERS on a dune buggy was a good idea

I hear the hardest challenge is a wet version of the Hennessy Venom Time Trial, might take a while.

Looks like you're a pretty damn good racer! How many tries did you need to get three stars on the Venom hotlap?

I think it took me about 30 minutes, so 20 laps or so. I had the pace from around Lap 5, just needed to string all of the good corners together in a single lap.

That does look like a very realistic clip. I'm already dreading a look on the comments though...

Another point worth a mention - Rushy tweeted that the game is back in the top 20.
