I'll believe a release date for this thing when I see it on the shelf.
Well, the game went gold a few weeks back and I've seen videos and images of press kits with full review codes of the game.
I'll believe a release date for this thing when I see it on the shelf.
- Will there be some sort of track with a big 1-mile straight where I can test accleration, top speed and 1/4 mile times etc?
Simon Barlow (@TheRealFreylis)
- There's no discreet test mode but there are plenty of point-to-point tracks with long straights you can run on.
- In the Gamescom presentation, during the photo mode portion, gameplay kept going on while still in the mode. Does this mean there's some form of video replay feature?
Simon Barlow (@TheRealFreylis)
- The Gamescom build was created especially for the show so some features were debug only. We have been looking at a possible replay mode, but the weather update and photo mode are our priorities.
- Will we see a release of the soundtrack by Hybrid (including the remixes as well)?
Simon Barlow (@TheRealFreylis)
- I believe @Jiffster (Alan McDermott, soundcloud.com/jiffster) has some plans up his sleeve...
Well, a photomode has been mentioned, so I'm thinking that will be for use in conjunction with replays as it's unlikely anyone will be using the PS Share button in the middle of a race. Okay, it's not proof, more like a logical guess.I don't think I've even heard Evolution Studios mention replays.

On one of their Facebook posts , Driveclub stated replays will come with an update . I am quoting that conversation verbatim here. All that graphical awesomeness without a replay mode does not compute :S
.
If you need to use walls in an arcade racing game, you don't have skill. It's a different kind of skill all together from regular racing games, to dismiss it as 'lol noskill' before we've even got our hands on the full game is a bit silly. A good arcade racer requires just as much skill as any other genre. The benefit is they are easy to play but difficult to master, the very principles that underpin gaming from the beginning. No race tracks, no race cars, no skill needed as you only appear to have to be able to ricochet off walls, rocks and other cars. So that being the case it will appeal to half the people that now play GT6 online ;-)
They seem rather agressive, they will ram you if you just overtake them without proper planning. ramming cracks your windows when using cockpit view so you will feel more tension when being rammed if you use cockpit view.I wonder, does anyone know if the AI in this game make mistakes?
I was fairly excited to try this game and even had it pre-ordered for release last November with my PS4. I have the PS4 and still no DC.
The only reason why I originally pre-ordered it was because it was going to be the only driving game on the new consol.
I suspect this will be the only thing that will now drive sales (forgive the pun).
I will download the free PS plus version just to try it and confirm what I already believe the game to be.
Now comes some harsh words. It is nothing more than a NFS, street racer, arcade game, suitable for 8-14yo olds with hand controllers that have no idea what skill is or race craft is about.

I would like to be proved wrong on all these points but I wont hold my breath.
Flame suit <ON>
BTW like others who commented here I too have pre-ordered Pcars and hold some high hopes for this on the PS4. We certainly need something now that PD and Kaz have lost the plot ;-)
The graphics are great, but the Sound is not the strength of Driveclub, thats for sure.
The Maserati Gran Turismo, Audi R8 and Pagani Zonda sounded horrible. Especially the Maserati and R8 sound like amercian muscle cars.
This game has only about 50 cars, I've expected more quality on each car. Even NFS Games got more cars and better sound. I've preordered the PS+ Upgrade and will have fun with it, but this game is overhyped. If Drive Club would have the same bad graphics as The Crew, no one would care for it. But it's like in the last console generation, great hype comes with great graphics.
Thanks for all of that info. It's what I suspected but couldn't put my finger on proof-wise.On one of their Facebook posts , Driveclub stated replays will come with an update . I am quoting that conversation verbatim here.
(FB User) I really don't understand why you Driveclub don't reply to my question...we know that the replay aren't at launch of the game, but when you'll add? After a month? 2? With a patch???
(Driveclub) Yes with an update. We don't have a date to share with you just yet though.

Ignore reviews, just try for yourself - it's free, so what do you have to lose? I always trust what I can see and hear myself over what someone else's thinks....I will hold my breath.. and wait for a review!...

Just because a different kind of skill is necessary doesn't mean none is needed.
Hmm, well, that sounds disappointing to say the least. I think I'm going to faint if I see another NFS-clone rolling out. BUT.... I will hold my breath.. and wait for a review!
What other games you got on the PS4?
Ah, just means you get to do it all over again when photomode pops up - I'm guessing though, that was said in your Jeremy Clarkson voice?Weird how they don't have a replay mode, how hard is it . Seems the game will be a lot better a month in.
The visuals will sell it to many casual gamers wanting something to show off their shiny PS4.... But of course they will all have the PS+ free version to do that with.Could get knocked down a bit in reviews for not having photomode, weather and replays at launch but I suppose this game is all about connected social aspects. Can't see it fairing too well anyway.
There was also an indication that at least replays were planned to be in the game before they probably got scrapped out . In the 2013 February reveal trailer , if you pause the video at a certain moment while it's showing game features , it says "with skill points you earn , you can unlock filmographic filters that can be used in replays".Thanks for all of that info. It's what I suspected but couldn't put my finger on proof-wise..
