Nice to have witnessed the advancement of video games....

I remember the good old days....

Ahh, now funnily enough I just made a point about the evoloution of in-game graphics (no pun intended) on another thread and mentioned the 'good ol' days' by way of comparison.

What's up with FH2's night though, has that been edited to cut short the night? Because by comparison to the day it just flys by - I know some more northerly lattitudes can have three to four hour nights during the summer - but that just looked far shorter.

last two gt sucked so bad i almost moved to microsoft, i do not have any hope in Kaz and his team. They are cleary out of this world now.

They did unfortunately. I hate to say this, but Kaz and his team are disconnected. His latest "disclosure" on GT7 seems clinched and is vague at best.

I'll still give them a chance though; if GT7 sucks again, it's not the hardware that Kaz loves to blame.. it's simply a lack of skill and creative thinking. I'll be writing it off, and that's then. Ah.. good time to be a simmer... bring it on babies - PCARS/Forza.

H1 had the same stuff goin on - day durations were okay, but night just slipped by like it was nothing. Wish there were a way to fine-tune these transitions through options. Don't understand why the devs won't include an option. PCARS has this really COOL option that allows you to keep the transition in real time, or slow down/speed up as much as you like.

Forza games really need to have more options - particularly one that allows you to adjust speed sensitive steering.

It's not the hardware at all. Polyphony may have had a hard time adjusting to the notorious cell architecture, but it's not like their competitors couldn't overcome those challenges. Codemasters made several very good racing games on that console. EA had a few too. It's not the PS3 – it's Polyphony.

You're comparing an exclusive to games developed on 360 and ported for PS3. Apples and oranges, but that still doesn't excuse PD. They had years of work on PS3 to figure it out.

Still waiting on that DriveClub PS+ though...

I want to like it, I do, but it is just getting more and more frustrating. The demolition derby AI is out of control, and even when you are lucky enough to get ahead and in a good groove, you can't pull away. It's almost more of a chore to win races rather than fun to win races.

Not to mention that figure-8 track is possibly the most excruciating creation I've ever seen, and for some reason, I can't figure out how to steer on it for the life of me.

Perhaps lack of a wheel is what's holding it back for me, but it is not doing a very good job of holding my attention, and I just hate that to happen. I am certainly missing something, though.

I just noticed if you ordered the game for the retailer game should you get a pre order bonus code?
Yes, I pre-ordered with Gamestop and got a MP12-C as a bonus. Finding where to put the damn code was another matter tho. There is a significant lack of helpful info on this game like what you get points for, what is a drift zone or high speed zone...

The points counter at screen centre/top will help you understand the what, where and why of it, especially if you save a replay (either double click on the share button at the start of a race and then hold the share button down until the screen changes when you are done, then press Square to save the file - or simply hold down the share button after wards and it'll save the last 15 mins.)

Those races with speed or drift zones will show the start and end points across the track and remain until you have achieved them. Even with the HUD turned off, they will still appear.

Might want to read the in-game instructions maybe.

Thanks for the information I sent game a private message on twitter to see if they can help me.

The one with the long highway straight that has the big chicane on it with the barriers? I kind of like that one.

It's always at night around the observatory.

Ohhh yes, that one. Yeah, it's gorgeous but unbearable. Easily my least favorite track in the game. The worst is that one event where you need to overtake track day cars in a Bentley GT Speed. Not fun.

Exact race I was just about to mention. What a mess.

How are the Scotland tracks people?
Phe-NOM-en-al!

I mean, they are wider than I would have expected (mind you, the last time I was up that way, was quite some time ago...) but the weather is as much of a character as the tracks. They're going to be a photomode heaven when that comes.

As for racing, I'm just in the middle of processing an online race on one of the P2P stages, which will give you an idea of how it looks and acts. It should be up a bit later.

Awesome, thanks for the information. I'm glad that when I finally get to open my PS4 bundle the servers should be in great condition. Means I can go straight into the carnage. :D

Yeah, they should be okay by Christmas ;) Jokes aside, they do seem to be stablising a lot more now and I'm really quite enjoying this online malarky a lot more than I expected.

The lobby system is really quite unique in my (admittedly limited) experience - races are presets so far, about eight of them running on a couple of minutes countdowns so you can decide if you want to join a lobby or not. So far there are just the different vehicle classes for individuals to race and team races too, as well as ten lap enduros.

All quite swift and painless, though of course you'll see that there are a good few numpties out there.

I figured there would be.

One of the best examples I've seen of closed circuit racing being done online, was ironically, in the Mario Kart series. After a race you get the selection of 3 different events and everyone votes, then it goes into a 'roulette selection' like mechanism where it will land on a random person's choice, of course, the more votes a track gets the better chance it has on being chosen. The reason I really liked it was because there was only like 25 seconds down-time between races. The way you've said there is couple of minute countdowns seems a bit long, which could end up frustrating I think.

Well, a couple of minutes max, the whole group is comprised of staggered starting times, so you can generally pick from three or four that are due to start in the next twenty seconds.

Are there private lobbies? are all races presets?
