Hello. My first post here. I've seen this advertised but I don't know anyone who has it? I've been playing Gran Turismo since GT1 came out. GT6 has been disappointing to me so I was looking for another racing game. I've watched trailers and read some posts here. Would anyone be willing to give me an honest opinion about DriveClub? I won't buy it new but my local Gamestop has used copies. I don't play any other than racing games. I have a great selection of PS2 games that I still play. My favorite is 24 Hrs. of LeMans because it has Road Atlanta a track I've raced on in real life. Need for Speed games are crap to me. So the standard is Gran Turismo.

Edit: 2:30 AM Monday OK I've been searching for info about DC. Is this a PS4 only game? If so then I don't need the info I asked for. The PS4 is too:censored: expensive for just a racing game. I'm hoping that it will drop in price a whole lot because I don't play any other games except racing. If and when GT7 comes out I might consider it then but not before.

Been playing it over the weekend with the new weather updates.

When it rains or snows heavily at night, I just cannot see where I am going at all! I'm mostly looking at the minimap and diving into turns hoping there is some tarmac there! If I use the chase cam it looks like the rains just falling on the car but nowhere else! The lightning is incredible too!

Also has anyone noticed that sometimes the solo challenges remove the participants? I think that's prevented me getting the unbeatable trophy.

I haven't had that yet, unless you mean on the actual challenges page where each available race is detailed.

On a few of those, I've definitely had occasional issues where it will not show any other participants, even if I've done that race or TT before and know that certain people should be on the list.

Yeah, that happens on and off for me but is back to normal the next time I look.

Yeah that's exactly what happens to me although they're not put back to normal.

That's definitely not right then.

On a note aside, it looks like they have been doing work with the server today - so hopefully in the background, that sort of issue is being looked at and tested, because that's the essence of the challenges.

This game has been doing well according to the Pal charts, no doubt the bundles have helped, but I bet EVO would be happy with how sales are going.

Yeah, 24 Hours of Le Mans! Had that for the Dreamcast, where it was called Test Drive Le Mans. So ahead of its time. No game has done Le Mans/GT racing better, and that says a lot seeing as how that game is about 15 years old by this point. Suddenly I feel really, really old.

Yes, DC is a Sony exclusive and only available on the PS4.

Thank you @MeanElf for that info. 👍 No need for anyone to pursue this further for me. Like I said the only way I would consider buying a PS4 is if and only if and when GT7 comes out. I still have fully functional PS1's and PS2's with all of my DEX Drive saves, and the original Gameshark from GT1 and 6 memory cards worth of gameplay for my PS2. I didn't get a PS3 until GT5 came out and I waited too long because the first ones would play PS2 games. I've looked several places for the 4 USB port PS3 but all I've read says they were prone to failure. I never thought Sony would go the way of Nintendo and not have backwards playability. So thanks anyway.

No worries - actually, the WiiU is fully backwards compatible with the Wii, so maybe things will change elsewhere too.

Do not get a ps4 for DC. It's very very thin as a game, i consider gt6 ageas ahead in all beside graphics. Got it in a bundle

Absolutely my only opinion, beside weather excitement i do not find anything exciting or the racing good.

For me driving style is Burnout like (minus the crashes). Not saying people won't enjoy it, just to keep low expectation and know that is a carefree driving game that is great to waste time on.

Again just my opinion, but i just gave input in case other considered a PS4 just for it.
 
Sorry if already answered, I don't have the time to search through pages... what's driveclub like physics wise? I know its more arcadey than sim, but are we talking need for speed bad, or a little more toward horizon or project Gotham... thanks

Just read on the DC Facebook page that apparently keeping the 599XX multiplayer-only was the prancing horse's decision, not Evo's:

This car is very, very exclusive. We agreed with Ferrari that we would give the car the same level of exclusivity in the game as it has in their world.

What a bunch of pompous, self-righteous, heads-stuck-halfway-up-own-*** pigs Ferrari are. Honestly, I couldn't care less about not being able to drive the car, but as someone who grew up loving the brand I feel betrayed. I can't look the other way anymore. I've never seen a company with such a blatantly cultist attitude get away with this stuff time and time again, in customer-dealer relations, in racing, and in the media. It's absurd, and it's exactly why they're god-awful in F1. In the long run all it's going to do is hurt the brand and damage their reputation, especially with the younger generations whose first exposure with Ferrari is coming increasingly via video games. [rant over]

Don't worry, they'll make it available for SP eventually.
As for Ferrari, this is not the first time they behave like this. If I remember correctly they are known for tuning their cars in order to "look better" than their rivals on magazines tests and forbid most of the reviewers to test or compare their cars without permission saying something like "All rivals should feel lucky to even be compared to a Ferrari".
Ironic since basically all their rivals are actually better both on track and road, but that's my opinion.
 
The servers appear to be back up and running again - the whole lot went down for an hour or so and I know this is speculation, but right beforehand, I saw all of my challenges and could load them straight away...so maybe they have them fixed now.

EDIT: And they're down again...

I'll be honest. I'm not trying to be a troll but drive club is sooooooo frustrating. I guess it was too much of a drop for me to go from gt or forza to pretty much need for speed
