EDIT: the writing in the road looks Japanese...

The description mentioned that the track is called Nakasendō (中山道).

Interestingly, Nakasendō (also known as the Kisokaidō | 木曾街道) was one of five of Japan's routes during the Edo period and is one of two connecting Edo (a.k.a Tokyo) to Kyoto, with about 69 stations between the two cities crossing through the provinces of Kōzuke, Shinano, Mino and Ōmi.

This route also runs approx. 332 mi | 534 km through Saitama, Gunma, Nagano, Gifu and Shiga Prefectures.

Nakasendō actually translates to "central mountain route" so expect a very in-land mountain track running past a few small, possibly traditional towns. Now we just wait to see which prefecture Evolution Studios chose to base their version of the Nakasendō.

I'd actually prefer a GT-R34 but that probably just me. A GT-R35 is also good.

Sooo....I've seen people posting pictures of the Corvette. Can only assume they got the DLC. But, there's no mention of it in the PlayStation blog update, nothing on the store, and complete silence from the game facebook and twitter page.

What's going on here?

EDIT: The Corvette sneaked into my garage. It's in the Performance class. Must have been this months free car even though it hasn't been mentioned anywhere
Also, a different Renault Alpine is in the Super class now. Was that there before?

I just checked my game and only the Corvette Stingray is there.

The guys at Evolution mentioned that PSN has been having problems today, possibly why people have been getting the Corvette at different times. The update isn't due yet though, must be next week.

According to their facebook post the Corvette ZR1 is part of a DLC due later this month for season pass holders. Looks like we're getting two Corvettes, the ZR1 and the new Stingray.

The track will also be released later this month.

New Track Preview: Nakasendo, Japan

Watch this full preview of Nakasendo, one of the new Japanese tracks coming in a free game update later this month.

It's an epic point-to-point drive offering plenty of wide open sections for high speed overtaking and loooong switchbacks where you can get your drift on.

The car we're driving is new too. It's the awesome Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Centennial Edition, included in the Season Pass and also available as part of an upcoming Expansion Pack.

I'm fairly sure there will be more than one track lads - I think they just wanted to show how varied Nakasendo is and that it's a product of combining player requests.

It looked like every chicane/corner became much wider than the road leading up to the chicane/corner. Not sure how I feel about that.

However, it was very neat how the track ended up driving beneath the bridges you drove on top of early in to the P2P.

Just a heads up, Sony will be taking PSN offline for four hours from 17:00 GMT (just under three hours from the time of this post for anyone not in the UK.)

PSN was all up and down yesterday and this morning.

Well, I'll answer you both

When you have done a race, a TT or anything like that which you feel is a good time, you can issue the challenge from the 'after-race' screen or later on, go to Create a Challenge, which will take you to a buffer of your last thirty or so missions; you just select the one you want and follow the instructions.

Quite a few here are active in sending challenges, plus a few other players who lurk here but don't post very often. Challenges don't have to be friends - you'll get the option to select participants from your club, friends, also a suggested list of the hundred people closest to your level in the game. There is also a PSN ID search option, but I'm not sure if that's working yet.

Alternatively, in the challenges screen you'll see any friends who have active challenges going and also a whole slew of community challenges - you can jump into any of those whenever you want. Evolution regularly set challenges for us all.

Hope all of that wasn't too confusing...

• Entertainment services.
  
• Online gameplay - however, you may still play online if you are already signed into your SEN account via the relevant device before the maintenance begins.

Only the store seems to be affected right now.
