DubstepMusic

I'd say Skrillex is brostep. To me, "brostep" is straight up BASS WOBBLE OMG WOBWOBWOBWOB and AGGRESSIVE SYNTHS WEEWOOWEEWOO... Basically it's really aggressive dubstep.

*cough* that's not to say that he's bad. It's just that it's music for the bros: you don't really take it seriously and you just soak it all in without thinking.

A nice quote from the Skrillex thread to hopefully make you enjoy the vid more. :)

:D

When it comes to the originators of dubstep, there's more context to the music than just music itself. It permeated in the crevices of Europe's urban/punk subculture in the early 00's; it was less than a backdrop than it was coloring in the lines of soul and culture. Anyone from then will tell you they still feel the reverberations of hidden late night parties, or dark, gritty nights out to disturbing places. It's something else from today's "dubstep", which is why there is diverging views.

This is true dubstep don't get me wrong all the other 🤬 is sick but thus track will take you back to the roots and people need to be "true to dubstep not new to it" 🤬 all new comers.

^First few comments you see and they do pretty much sum up this song.

Anyone picked up Burial's new EP yet? I just bought it :D

we shall see... i have like 70-80 tracks on my wishlist @ digital-tunes already, though... waiting for a new credit card :dopey:

haven't even gave it a listen yet, but from what i heard it's pretty good!

Wanna know on how to make your dubstep music really 🤬 awesome?!?!
Warning: Coarse language and may cause epilepsy. I'm serious.

You mean how to make it boring, bland and unoriginal? Pretty much every new producer (I.e 13 year olds with a pirated version of Fruity Loops) only does a kick-snare pattern and a wobblezzzzzz preset that they looked up on youtube

get outta here tesla, you dont belong here!!

haha it does seem like Tesla could tone down the bashing, the guy was just stating an opinion.

Not all brostep has to be bad just because it's bro. Vexare - Clockmaker is a decent tune, as is most of Emalkay's newer stuff.

The sad fact is, it's true for the most part. Yes, most producers you see on UKF and the like do have some sort of musical theory knowledge, but most people who throw a track on Souncloud or Youtube won't have that.

Also, that video had language. Put a warning there please.

More edits, and tunes.

And forthcoming on Mala's new album, the percussion is huge on this.

And this is how you do a drop. Bass, and lots of it.

That's true. SC and YT people just wanna do it for fun or for nothing, but others show their talents and for entertainment and, sooner, they would be in UKF. An example would be Rednek. :dopey: His first single "I'm Not Skrillex" was his experiment in becoming a dubstep artist. His dream is to appear in UKF's YouTube channel and it did! Now, he is a UKFDubstep artist.

Already taken care of. You forgot to warn about epilepsy.

No.
Lots of kids are jumping on a bandwagon and doing it because it's a next cool thing.
That Rednek guy is a prime example, the skrillex thing was just pure publicity stunt

I dont think Brostep is an actual genre, or even sub-genre... i think of it as more of a slur used to talk negatively about a producer. In my opinion there are not enough specific characteristics to justify it. Its easier to talk bad about something than to understand it and just say, "Yeah, that does take skill to produce. I just don't care for their music."

What genres do you think these tracks fit under.

it sounds like he says Ratatat, like the pokemon; it always makes me chuckle a bit

I bet most of the kids who listen to dubstep don't even like it that much. They just listen to it because it's "cool".

Although Brostep is derogatory, I would still call it a type of dubstep. To me, brostep is anything in which tacky sound effects are added along with no real rhythm. This urban dictionary entry explains it better I feel.

Brostep is a relatively new sub-genre of music (born out of Dubstep micro-genre) which has no emphasis on soul.

The goal appears to be to produce music as fast as you possibly can, without placing any emphasis on quality.

Unlike Dubstep where sub bass is key, Brostep places more emphasis on ratty high frequency samples and oscillators that arent even low frequency. Toss in a few hip hop vocal samples and you are well on your way to being the worlds next big Brostep producer.

I suppose it's up to yourself what you would class brostep as. The videos HE1RO posted are mainly brostep I feel, although I wouldn't class the Run DMT one as brostep.

You can't really blame everyone for producing brostep, it's what the public want so that's what the public get. I dislike it but I'm in the minority. Of course I would rather it if everything produced was like the videos Tesla posted but unfortunately that just isn't happening. Not many artists produce that nowadays, or if they do, I don't know where to find it.

I'm not arguing that brostep isn't difficult to produce, just that it has dragged dubstep down in terms of quality and as a result dubstep is now looked down upon as a genre.

Some of his posts sound more like Dub than Dubstep. The last vid is for sure dubstep imo. Basically, if it has wobble bass i consider it Dubstep. If i hear a song i don't like, I don't call that producer/song brostep. That can make people flame, but this isn't primarily a music forum, and also not that many people would even click on this thread.

Something like this might be more up your guys alley.
