Think you'll find Morgan is funded by Ginetta!

Indeed. He's backed by them for this season as he won the championship last season.

Thruxton qually on at the moment.

Neal off with broken suspension and Plato manages to crash fast enough to reach Thruxton village!

Didn't get the chance to watch the qualifying yet but it sounded like a really dramatic session! What happened to Dan Welch anyway? He only clocked 3 laps and that's all? Some sort of problem? BTCC website doesn't seem to explain what happened to him...

Failed a ride height check and had some times dis-allowed. Most of the session was threatened by rain and a few people fell off the track towards the end, between that and the disruption of Plato's excursion through the tyre wall Welch may have decided to save the car for the race.

Thanks mate. A shame really, because I really expected the Proton to perform well on this kind of circuit. The Swindon engine is a pretty powerful one. He may have made a wise decision to save the car for the race. We'll see how exciting the race will be tomorrow and if the weather and all is anything like today, we could have a great race in prospect!

I want cold and windy, but mostly dry, I think it will help the RWD's of WSR stay on the pace.

This is the first time in two years I won't be at Thruxton for the BTCC, looks like I've picked the right year to miss - the weather looked pretty grim.

Wow I missed one hell of qualifying session! Wrathall in 3rd! Good to see all 3 Motorbase Fords in the top 10 as well.

I meant that Speedworks provide the team and car, if Tony wasn't in BTCC, Ginetta would have had to look elsewhere to run Morgan.
As I understand it, Dynojet were asking for more money than Speedworks but obviously they would have been an option if Speedworks weren't around.

Just watching the qualifying on youtube. Jasons interview after his crash was pretty weird, usually as a driver if something like that happens you don't want to talk about it to much if it was your error, or if it was a problem with the car you wouldn't be kinda showing it off.

He did seem extremely flustered and adrenaliney, my only guess is that he felt he almost cheated death or serious injury with that crash and it hadn't sunk in yet. I had that once when my axle bent when karting and I was chucked out of my seat onto the sidepod while still going 50mph towards a dirt bank, after you have survived it and are ok you feel like a complete boss for about 10mins as your body was still surging.

Watch from about 28.00 to see the interview.

Also its nice to see that the MSA's stricter stance on taking kerbs isn't just confined to karting, alot of young kart drivers copy their "heroes" in touring cars and with open wheels it never works out well.

Well the BMWs can be good in the rain if they make the right tyre choices, look at Oulton Park last year. Its not over just yet.

Hopefully, but most of the time though the BMW will just slip back. The chances are very slim. I won't be catching the race live but I'll watch the races tomorrow. Hopefully they can do something.

Bloody hell, look how close he was to those marshalls.

Interesting first race then... Do enjoy watching wet races. Never know who is going to mess up next...

Clios - hard hits keep on coming. Bushell off at same place as Griffin head on.

Good racing in the end, and surprisingly little carnage given the weather. Lots of people probably being a little careful after Donington...

Nice results from Flash though, reckon this year might be his if he can drop some of the bad luck he's had over the past few seasons.

Good performance by Plato. They were also good shows by most people on track including the Hondas, Jackson and Wrathall.

Only two people have finished every race in the points this season, Rob Collard and Jeff Smith.

I'm impressed with Wrathal this weekend. He was having a very good races this weekend and scored big points. Plato is driving clean this time, that's good to see and I also didn't expect the BMW to be that strong especially in the first race. The Hondas? They're just too fast.

Something exciting going on though. What really happened to Lea Wood and Rob Collard at the end of Race 3? It seemed to me that Wood went sideways just before the last chicane, slams on the side of Collard, punctured Collard's rear left and you know what happened then. But as Collard corrected the car, it seemed that his rear right was also punctured. Difficult to tell from that camera angle but it didn't look like Collard was pushing Lea towards the outside. Anybody got a clear view on this?

There was some good racing this weekend and it was mostly clean too, more of this please in future.👍 I suspect it was just because of the rain though and as soon as it's a dry weekend the nonsense will start all over again.:nervous:

General touring car discussion is for the other thread, chaps ;)

Pretty much as you described. A racing incident really.

I reckon Collard got a bit sideways on the brakes, defending from Wood. Wood rode up his left rear tyre, puncturing it. The resulting slide from Collard knocked Wood off the track, and the punctured tyre meant that Collard spun.

Luckily for both of them, their race positions remained identical anyway.

Did anyone else notice Dave Pinkney's transporter in the paddock?

I presume someone else has bought it (it was for sale in Autosport over the winter) and hasn't got around to re-painting it. I don't think Dave Pinkney Motorsport runs anyone else in the BTCC or any other series on the package. :odd:

Didn't spot that. Definitely wasn't HARD. racing's then? As their colour scheme is similar to Pinkney's old scheme.
