Pretty sure Girling was announced a while ago, just only now the car is built.

And £10 on Lea Wood at speedworks.
I think the announcement is more aimed towards the new team name - it's not tech speed, its something else know but they are just confirming its basically the same team.👍 car has been ready for ages, already done a test I believe

Judging by Joe's comments the past few months it was anything but confirmed budget-wise though.

This is why we're getting so many "double-announcements" lately because although we heard several teams and driver's plans over the last few months, its never really confirmed till they know they've got the budget together.

So, no, he wasn't officially announced till now. It was just they had made known their plans earlier.
Don't be surprised if some of the drivers or teams don't turn up at Brands...it happens every year.

I'm surprised no one else is on the case here!

Scott to make BTCC debut
The Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship will be greeted with a familiar sight in 2013, as the popular Seat Leon is back on the grid with rookie Warren Scott at the helm. Scott, whose background lies mostly in motorcycle racing, will race for BMR Restart and contest the Jack Sears Trophy for cars still running the older S2000 specification.

Despite his relative inexperience on four wheels, Warren knows all the major British circuits very well, and had a successful season last year in the Lotus Cup UK series.

Add yet another new face and another familiar S2000 car! Interesting that they have plans for NGTC too!

What a season we have coming together here! Is there any other motorsport series out there that's getting such a boost in numbers right now?

"Cars must now have a matching set of tyres. They are no longer permitted to have a mix of wet and slick tyres"

Well that sucks.👎

Why? It's mainly to disadvantage the FWD cars so the RWD cars have a chance.

I just think the race in 2011 Croft was amazing, where Mat Jackson had gambled on tyres and was flying and passing cars in the last 5 laps to finish just behind Matt Neal - those where great races!

It seems to be heavily implied on the BTCC.net forum that Ollie Jackson is going to be partnering Newsham at Speedworks.

Plus AmD might have a S2000 Focus...

So with AMD, is it a golf this season, with perhaps the astra at season end? Golf and Astra together? Astra and focus? I am confused...

Their original plan was to run the Golf all season and introduce the NGTC Astra mid-season.
So they've got James Kaye in the Golf all season. We don't know who will drive the Astra yet and as I say, there is a rumour they've got an S2000 Focus now too.

Lea Wood confirmed back in his S2000 Vectra:

I guess that all but confirms Ollie Jackson at Speedworks but I guess we will definitely know tomorrow!

Also, team HARD are not bringing their Insignias or Passats to media day tomorrow.

IP Tech to miss brands. HARD to miss media day. And good move for wood actually.

What happened to the ex EBay BMWs? Surprised they have not been snapped up.

Shame Lea didn't get the Speedworks drive. He's quick. Not too sure about Ollie as he never really had a moment of "wow", but will have to wait and see if he is confirmed first, but guessing he is.

I don't how rusty he's going to be, but James Kaye is surely going to be one to watch in the Golf too?

Depends. Lea maybe a bit rusty, but he's not had 2/3 years out of the sport like James Kaye. I think he will be fast, but depends how quick and if the team get the Golf together - it showed pace with Tom Onslow-Cole but not much since then really.

Won't be easy for Lea to win it, but I think he is strongest person to do it.

I didn't mean Lea would be rusty - far from it seeing as he raced last year! I meant James Kaye might be rusty seeing as he's not raced in BTCC for 3 years now and getting on a bit!

Oh right sorry! :dopey: I think James will find his feet, he made a quick return in 2010 after being out for 3 years and he was right on the pace towards race two so I see no reason why he would be slower. Rusty I agree, reckon he'll lose a few places at the start of the season but I think he'll get quick and better.👍

How so ? Better than no drive at all but I'm gutted he didn't get the Speedworks seat. So much for the O'Neil-Wood dream team.

Unlike most S2000 runners, wood has experience and a lot of it with the car. Kaye might be rusty, but is a safe pair of hands.

There is supposed to be a second car.

Key word really, that car doesn't look anywhere near done. And round 1 starts in 10 days, even though they are missing it, so will they get it ready for round 4? I can't see another car being added unless they can build it quickly and have the money. Plus I wonder who would fill the seat? Paul O'neil doesn't bring any money, but he is quick and could help them out.💡

AmD have the Ford if a driver comes can be found for it.

IP Tech will build up the second car for later in the year.

Ex-eBay cars: two sold, one to Asia and one looks like heading for a museum as far as I know. One still at WSR.
