It will be quite good to have standard cars to make it on PS4. I can imagine it now, Gran Turismo 6: 4K Remastered being released and pictures of standard cars and Trial Mountain being used to troll PS4 and GT series all over the internet .

I think it will be better though if they release without the standard content and not improve graphics that much, but have targets for really high framerates and good VR experience if they were to release it again. Don't see need of a Prologue game as I think there is enough Premium content to be sold as a full GT title so GT7 after GT6 rerelease to push PS4 graphics close to the limit.

Reg. expectations regarding GT7, if you want 24 cars on track with weather, time-change and damage you better be ready(possibly) to lose native 1080p and locked 60FPS. I just think that, even for the PS4, that would be really tough to pull off with the level of graphical fidelity the premiums in GT have. I could be totally wrong, but I think achieving that would be some feat.

lol are you kidding me ? PS4 will do that easily.

I really want the PS4 edition. Recording hotlaps or overtakes, screenshot feature on PS4 is something I would like to try. I do not see myself using that on other games but for GT and racing games for sure. Apart from graphics upgrade they can improve the gameplay, damage, sound and DLC content. Hope they do not reduce track as some of them are ported from GT4 but I can definitely see it having only premiums ones though.

I really hope they announce it at E3.

Yes, the PS4 will do native 1080p and locked 60fps easily, as highlighted by all the games that already do it.

Can't wait to see DriveClub on pS4 at 1080p/60fps....oh wait...

Sure it does. PD doesn't use proximity to determine what cars they make premium and what cars they don't. They did more so back in the early days of GT, but they don't anymore and I can't think of any racing game dev that uses whatever cars are close to decide what cars they add to the game.

Okay, you've completely ignored my other point. We've determined that PD doesn't choose by proximity anymore nor do other racing devs. Now back to my original point, why does PD choose not to give premium interiors to the cars that are close to them?

Ok, now you're just being pedantic :P You know I mean GT6 on the PS4.

Well I know, I was just curious why you were referring to it like that in both that and your previous post. If it's still called GT6 they'll need another modifier to the title than HD, 'Ultimate Edition' or whatever.

That is because it was never meant to be 60fps. For aracde games 30fps is enough. GT on PS4 won't be 30fps. I think even 3D mode can be 60fps.

But if it's so easy, why wouldn't they? It doesn't matter what genre of racing game it is, 60fps is still prefered over 30fps. There was even an interview saying that 60fps was still a challenge:

You are going to be disappointed. The hardware isn't powerful enough.

PS4 is comparable to a medium range PC, which suffers to get 60 FPS in current age games, nevermind future releases.

Anyway they could show a teaser without a date like they did for Uncharted.

Black screen

heart beating

Flash of Porsche logo

Engine starts and slowly rises the revs

rises

rises

and boom! At the peak of rpm the car goes off the and we can see a beautifully modeled Porsche 918 on some twisted road.

...and then you wake up.

Anyone played MGS V on PS4 ? 1080P 60fps and the other console only manage 720P 60fps, and reviewers said the PS4 is butter smooth compared to the 720P of the other console.

I think it's more to the developers decision on target resolution and fps. PD should be able to extract the most of PS4, they have access to the dev kit long before any other developers and I think I read that Kaz has direct input/involvement on the PS4 system development too.

1080p/60fps is certainly possible but as you say it's about how they use the power. What we don't want to see is PD going too hard on the graphics again and going beyond the performance of PS4, resulting in choppy framerate and dips. 1080p at a LOCKED 60fps should be their primary goal, not ultra shiny shiny and hope the PS4 can cope.

Agree :) Tesselation would be a great asset on PS4.

I played MGS on PS3 and 4. PS4 is lightyears ahead of PS3.

But, like @Samus said, PD likes graphics way too much.

For example, GT6 would, probably, be more streamlined if they kept the game in the same GT5's resolution target. And nobody would question that, because 720p is the norm to the last generation hardware: any bit higher than that was pretty cool.

But they kicked the bar up high, and the game suffers as a whole: FPS dropping, tearing, etc, etc.

If they look to the PS4 APU with the same concept, GT7 could even go further than 1080, with all sorts of FPS problems.

And standards

PS4 could do 2K GT7 with similar poly count / LOD to GT6 ( premium car ), add improved lighting + weather, visual effects and better textures + tesselation = 24 to 32 cars maybe. Better sound format ( higher fidelity samples ), better physics and AI. It's a dream

I had an idea for a GT7 showcase.
PD could update Deep Forest with Weather and time change. Show it at dawn with drizzles of rain, the rain will drip off of all the trees and tunnels that covers it, making it look fantastic and also giving PD the chance to show off new tire physics with altering grip levels around the track due to the tunnels and trees that covers parts of the track.

@wowbaggerBR

Racing sim and fighting are the 2 most easiest games to do at 60fps. Because it is car going in circles. You do not interact with the world and fighting games is basically 2 characters on screen.

PS4 is not equivalent to mid range PC. The programing is totally different on PC which has lots of bottleneck, overlays and gpu, cpu potential never can be reached. Consoles they can directly interact with hardware. They will easily master the graphics with PS4 considering on PS3 they already pushed for 1080P and 16 cars on track. So 24 cars with full simulation of weather, damage, day/night is easily possible for PD. I reckon most other games might go for 30fps. Like codemasters, EA nfs series and Project cars who made shift2 as well.

I knew it was going to be 30fps already. Codemaster, nfs series, other games might stick with 30fps 1080P. Hopefully F1 game they can push for 60fps ? Definitely PD will do it. I can bet you on that. They are really good in graphics and pushing the hardware

No, what they are good at since GT5 is pushing the hardware too far with graphics and sacrificing performance. They need to go back to what they did before that, graphics to match the hardware and rock solid performance.

I don't know how it can be all that powerful if it got a mid-range APU. You can optmize all you want, but the fact is that the hardware isn't all that powerful. "The lack of bottleneck doesn't solve the lack of power".

This line of argument is the same that says "oh, Xbox One will do 1080p on everything. Eventually".

Search of timothy lottes and see what he said about PS4 specs. As I said before PD will easily achieve it. They already did a demo of GT5P running on 4 PS3 many years ago. Anyhow I already know it but some of you will have to wait and see yourself

We all know the specs of the PS4, it's very good but it's not the greatest hardware ever conceived, it still has a lot of limitations.

Who really cares about a Gran Turismo on PS4 after playing GT6 on PS3?

Really looking forward to Drive Club and PCars.
GT6 gave me the final push for not trusting in this series anymore!
This. Don't forget about The Crew. :D I'm hyped for those three games and not GT7. It feels good!

I hope Burnout is at E3 since Criterion Games are getting back to together again.

Got a link?

I've found he saying something like PS4 first party games could be years ahead of PC gaming in general. But this was said on 2013, january. The PS4 wasn't even announced back then.

So, just speculation.

He said PS4 devs can extract a lot out of the console. Not a mid range PC performance of todays.

The guy was comparing PS4 to mid range PC which is stupid. Because console use low level API for graphics which gives a lot of performance than same graphics chip used on PC.

This is what he said. He is a master programmer who works for nvidia:

If they totally repackage GT6 into a great game that erases all of the flaws of the current version of course I'd be positive about it.
I wasn't so unsure about you. But GT6 does seem to have polarized the fanbase in a way I never thought I'd see. There are some obvious names in this thread who carry on endlessly as if GT6 caused the deaths of kittens. I'm hopeful that E3 brings some good vibes back here.

I honestly have no clue what's going to happen. We could get a wealth or smattering of promised features this year as a couple of guys speculated. We could get Prologue this holiday season. This is the craziest Gran Turismo environment I've ever seen. I just keep reminding myself that whatever happens, it should be fun. ;)
