Right'y'o - not fixing the long standing S2U fatal bugs and other glaring deficiencies after all, but instead directing their effort toward mobile devices. That is just disgraceful (of both SMS and EA).

BTW, I can hardly imagine anything less sim-worthy than mobile devices, I saw that iPad demo and that was a joke. I bet the iPod nano version will be stellar

...and with that I'm seriously considering adopting the "shafted" theory.

I agree with you 100%. EA and SMS are totally missing their target market. It's like developing razorblades for toddlers....completely useless

edit: almost the same use as downloading a patch giving you a new helmet and a new boring piano song...

Ah well, i feel like we have been taken for a ride "no pun intended", shift could have been a brilliant game, it still is a very good game, but these BUGS which they couldn't be arsed to fix makes feel very disappointed

We have had your cash, now we don't care what the problems are.
Pathetic indeed.

Well after feeling hung out to dry by them ignoring the issues the game is plagued by, i wont be purchasing any more from them. There are ways i can play their up and coming games on PC, which wont cost me anything, so i will be headed that way from now on...........screw them.

Time to get some payback me thinks.

EA's terrible at supporting games. Always has been. They're only good at withholding content then making money on it as DLC.

I only own two games from these clowns, TW 12(which is really good, has its bugs too) and Shift 2. Going to keep Shift 2 as the money is already lost and I really enjoy it when its not "buggin" out. Gotten into iRacing and that seems to be the end all be all sim for me. Awesome.

Its too bad EA can't get us a patch for Shift. It really is a good game, but could be great with a little tweaking. I've only bought two games from EA in the past 3-4 years and will definitely make sure I rent their 🤬 in the future. Used to buy the football games every other year, but those are so rehashed with a few uninteresting new features. Really, with psn and xbox live, EA could have roster updates and new features for say $30 download instead of a whole new freaking game for $60. Oh well, EA's been losing money from me for a long time and looks like they may have completely lost my business for the future.

Hope SMS can come up with their own sim racer. You can tell these guys are passionate about racing and cars. I really feel EA held their efforts back. Yes SMS created a buggy game, but EA's sub-par testing didn't help. I'm sure SMS would have fixed alot of these issues if they would have been given the chance.

SMS is doing a community driven (funded and development direction by the gamers) sim game...called C.A.R.S. as of now. Supposed to be cross platform with a free to play model. Game is free, extra cars and tracks are like 2 dollars for a pack. I am interested to see how it plays out. It could be great or a total cluster____.

Only problem I forsee it too many chiefs.

Agreed. And the goals are being set so high almost no one will be satisfied with the results (if it even comes to fruition!). There isn't, and may never be, a perfect racing "sim" as no one will ever agree on what a sim is or if the game accurately models real life.
For vitual racing fans we can only hope SMS comes through. Not so sure the consoles will even see this one though.

It has been said it will be on Xbox, PS3, and PC. Since the majority of income will come from the consoles anyway, I dont see them pulling this off w/o it. I asked Ian about the consoles, he said yes it will be on the consoles...well sans Wii of course.

The model itself is neat. I was worried it wouldnt be able to be done on consoles (the free to play model) until I did some research. It seems games like FreeRealms, and a few others are that way. Free to DL, free to play, but little charged here and there for upgrades etc.

It'll be interesting for sure to see how much content they can actually offer in the free versions as well as the DLC. I can't emagine SMS putting out a game with the content of say Forza or GT-5.., and doing this all on a community funded set up. It takes a lot of money and man hours to produce a game of this quality.

Considering they (SMS) own the rights to the S2 engine, and the fact there is already quite a bit of interest, anyone can invest, and it is to be tested and directed by the community, I see it as very possible.

Like I said eariler and Fuzzy seems to agree, with so many people and their suggestions and opinions, and then I can see person A say well I invested 500 dollars, my opinion is more important than person B who only invested 10 dollars, etc, etc,..

If SMS owns the majority of it and can put out essentially the same title that looks exactly like S2U.., but PATCHED properly by their own/community funding.., well then I'll be all over that. It's yet to be seen though. I'm hopeful they pull it off. I also understand the issue with the amount of money person A to person B invests as well.

At least the game is still supported. PD is supporting GT5 by listening to the community and adding new features. Yes, some updates seem odd, but the people requested it... I cant believe the stuff that happened in this game. SMS and EA only care about making the big bucks, and thats it.

What new "features" have been added? I haven't played in quite a while as it is the same old stuff. The seasonals are the same tracks with the same cars and the same AI, etc. They added racing suits, helmets, etc. but is that what a driving/racing game is about? Collecting paint chips, museum cards, etc.? Don't get me wrong, I am only stating my opinion and understand many like that game. I would actually like to know what "features" have been added - it may prompt me to pop the disk back in.

EDIT: "SMS and EA only care about making the big bucks". Don't fool yourself... it's all about the money with PD also. In their case they found a niche that is VERY profitable hence their ability and interest in continued support. That's a good thing all around - they make money, the gamer gets a game they like. The PD business model is nothing like EA or SMS, more of a combination. I am not sticking up for EA/SMS in the least as they drop the ball the second the income flow is weak for a title.

What features have been added? None.

Pretty stumped that EA has given Shift2 the arse, looks like it'll be going in the never play again pile.

I've not played Shift 2 for a couple of months, hoping in the meantime that the game will be patched. Such a shame to read that the game is effectively being dropped by EA/SMS.

Shift 2 is a rough diamond. There's so much I like about the game (track selection second to none, FIA GT integration, works upgrades, car sounds....), but the game is a buggy mess with laggy controls, and in dire need of constant patching and support.

I'll be thinking very carefully before buying EA games in future. Some of their practices are very poor indeed.

perhaps if all owners bought another copy...EA might see sales go up and start thnking its worth fixing a broken game.

^ No, they'll just be having a laugh for managing to rake in even more money on an underfunded and abandoned game... ;)

It would be better if we all demanded our money back for what is a defective product. Only then they might see the the incentive of providing finished and working products. That's not going to happen, of course, and the industry will continue as they do.

If only this game was supported the way Battlefield: Bad Company 2 was...that game got so much after launch support.
That's because it's made by DICE, who are known to have been releasing patches (and extra free content) for BF2 up to four years after its initial release. :sly:

Ontopic: I hope nobody is actually still waiting for a PS3 patch, as it's quite obvious there was never one, is never one and never will be one.

SMS probably submitted the 3rd patch with unapproved changes, EA wanted them to remove them since it required extra testing. SMS probably said it would be too much work so said forget it, EA said no 3rd DLC without patch so SMS said forget the last dlc.

I think it was more like EA and SMS had a contract for 2 included patches. SMS said we need paid for the 3rd patch EA said yeah but your first 2 patches only fixed 1 problem the FF issues. SMS says dont care we want paid. EA said where not paying to fix a game that should of been fixed in the first 2 patches.SMS says pay us or where done here. EA your done here permanently. EA and SMS screws all of us over pennies, because in the big picture thats all it really was is pennies. Alot of people want to put it all on EA but SMS is just as guilty of screwing us as EA. SMS came here and said they couldnt talk about the game because of contract, yet on another site they can talk about the PC version all day. What EA didnt produce the PC version so you can talk about it? Well im calling BULL****! In my opinion SMS is just as underhanded as EA when it comes to doing whats right by the fan base. 🤬🤬 companies will play hell getting anymore of my pennies.
