Why not? In the end, isn't it just one subjective opinion against anothers? People prefer different things. Evidenced by the fact that nobody can agree on what's the best rally title. Just like nobody can agree on what's the best sim title.

Sure, there are some objective criteria but the rest is all subjective. Heck, even pro drivers that drive a real life racing car can't even agree on what's the most realistic simulator. That says it all really.

(I kinda agree with you that that video is clickbaity though, but then again what video isn't these days)
Well... I mean they always talk bad about DR simulation and DR 2.0 comparing it to RBR. And that is not being objective. Because? Because in RBR, a car cannot turn a real 90º angle as you can do in DR\DR 2.0 (and obviously in reality itself). There is only one type of canned driving... endless "U" turns... On the other hand, you can use all kinds of real techniques and they will come out almost identical to reality the DR\DR 2.0. That's a simulator. Obviously I am not going to commit the sacrilege that other users commit by saying that DR\DR 2.0 are like life itself... But of course they are politically correct if we talk about simulation. Reality will always be one step ahead. But CM does commendable work.

I'm a huge Rally fan. I've played virtually every Rally game ever released. I also played DiRT Rally 2 for an ungodly amount of hours both on Playstation and PC. I'm very happy with what I'm seeing of EA WRC. Cant wait for the 1'st? For the early release.

@PJTierney Whats the stance going to be on Modded liveries added with resources like Race Department and DeLivery?

Hopefully with the introduction of the Livery Editor will that mean custom liveries are more welcome and not blocked for some cars like it was with the DR2 DLC cars?

I don’t have an answer on mods, as I don’t have that info. I guess we’ll find out in 2 weeks.

I am a creator of paintings, based on reality, and I have several works that I would like to capture in this new WRC. They give a lot of life to the game. The support is very good for DR 2.0 (except for some car models, which are blocked...) it is very solid. It would be a real shame.

Don’t look at the cable mess.. had to take them out to move my rig.. it will be cleaned up ofcourse. 😉
Received my clutch, shifter and handbrake this week.

The 2024 WRC calendar has been revealed

1697745100179.png

Since it starts in January, there would be no way for EA to release a new game for this new season. I assume the next game will be WRC 2025

There are also two new rallies, Rally Poland and Rally Latvia. Hopefully these will be added in due time. Rally Mexico and Rally Estonia were removed from the calendar

Here Mike shows the Option screen. Where Dirt Rally 2.0 had the option to set gearbox to: Manual Sequential or Manual H-Shifter where it automatically switches depending on the car.

This seems to be missing in EA Sports WRC. That’s a real bummer because right now you have to switch it manually in Options.

They’re releasing 2023 in November 2023 😉. There’s time, they have a 5 year deal for annual iterations, whether that means seasonal updates or full games we don’t know yet, but you can bet we’ll get a 2024 season game one way or another 😁.

Part of licensing will be knowing ahead of time what’s coming, Poland and Latvia have been expected for a while so wouldn’t be surprised if the early work is beginning there, at least 1 new car in the Rally2 Yaris as well. Plus they’ve built 12 locations from scratch in less than 3 years.

I personally hope it comes as a seasonal update. With the PGA tour game they added the current season major host course through the season, and whilst I don’t expect them to do that, a £20/£30 package around September adding the 2 rallies, the new car and maybe a few extra stages elsewhere.

I largely prefer the season update too. No need to fork out a new game every year with and start from scratch as a player. Continue to build on the WRC23 base is the way to go ✌️

For 2024 at least. I think 2025 should be a full release, possibly 3 big new rallies (one of which has been high requested for Dirt Rally forever), new rally1 regulations. Would be a good basis for s full game imo.

The Rally Pass and content map has been detailed. Also confirmed the cost of the VIP Rally Passes, 5.99 each post launch (all included in preorders).

“What is the Rally Pass?

The Rally Pass is a progression system in EA SPORTS WRC where players can unlock a range of items to customise their drivers and cars.

XP is earned through all on-road activity players will take part in throughout the game, and this XP unlocks items throughout the Rally Pass’s 20 levels.

Each Season, players can unlock a racing suit, pair of gloves, a helmet design for their custom driver, and a selection of decals for use in the livery editor, as well as a livery to show off on the Ford Puma Rally1 HYBRID, Hyundai i20 N Rally1 HYBRID, and the Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 HYBRID.

The Rally Pass will start from the game’s launch, and each season will run as follows:

Season 1 - 7 Weeks - Starting at Launch
Season 2 - 8 Weeks - Starting December 2023
Season 3 - 8 Weeks - Coming in 2024
Season 4 - 8 Weeks - Coming in 2024
Season 5 - 8 Weeks - Coming in 2024
There are no exclusive cars or locations contained within the Rally Pass. The game’s 78 cars and over 200 rally stages are available to everyone from launch with no additional purchase required.

Additionally, there is no paid in-game currency or boosters in EA SPORTS WRC

VIP Rally Pass

In addition to the Free Tier of content available to all players and detailed above, VIP Pass owners of each Season get additional content to use on their cars and drivers.

VIP players can look forward to unlocking an additional three sets of racing suits, gloves, helmets, caps and Rally1 liveries throughout each Season, as part of the Rally Pass.

Whilst all of the five planned VIP Rally Passes are available for those who pre-order EA SPORTS WRC, they can be purchased for £5.99/$5.99/€5.99** each post-launch.”

EA play members get an additional suit/glove/cap/livery combo and 7 extra moments in the first season. For everyone else there will be more than 50 moments in Season 1.
Looks like about 1 moment per day then on average across Season1 :D

Wonder whether we'll also have thr daily challenges like we had in DR2.0?
If we do, add all this to everything else including career and you won't have time to do it all.

If anyone has not preordered yet, this year1 detail should REALLY convince you now, especially as year1 is included with the preorder at £41 (max £46)!

The moments have effectively replaced the daily challenges. As the moments will have leaderboards and such they will kind of act like that being added to daily, however they won’t end after a day like the old challenges.

There’s talk that there may be an official club which will have daily challenges DR2.0 style.

You’ve nailed it though, there’s an obscene amount of content for the entry fee, and the preorder value with the VIP passes is very good. The value of the VIP passes if you buy them post launch is £29.95.

Tree'd

I was stuck doing nothing but daily rally challenges as a way to earn money for cars and stuff in DR2.0 since the career got too difficult too quickly and Rallycross wasn't my scene.

Minus the FOMO and possibly the cash rewards, Moments probably won't be quite as frequently played for me as the challenges were so long as the economy works differently with benefactors but hopefully I can binge a few at a time from the archive when I get bored with the plethora of other events, custom championships, career mode etc I'm hoping will be in this game.

Big fan of the way this is shaping up, as a huge WRC fan this is looking like the game I've always been waiting for. Couple of queries, not sure if these have been covered anywhere...I'm hoping @PJTierney might be able to help.

Do we know if the physical pre-order will also include early access? It's not abundantly clear online, I've always preferred a physical copy over digital but would also love to get stuck in a few days early.

Also, I know it's been mentioned about some Craig Breen 'moments' being in the game but so far I've not seen the Hyundai Croatia memorial livery included as part of any car / livery reveal videos from the various EA Content Creators. Do we know if it is going to included in any shape or form? Would be a shame to miss it!

Officially, pre-order is digital only.

I don't know what retailers like GAME and Amazon are doing (I focus on EA only), maybe they have codes that give the same bonuses or maybe they just bundle them in.

@PJTierney, kudos for dealing with the whole "triple screen controversy". Am I wrong in assuming that it's you KG is referring to in this video? :D

There are a couple of things I don't quite agree with him on though. I have explained them in my comment on that video:
"About the yes/no thingy though [9:55 in the video]: It's a bit more complicated than that. Not sure if you remember but Kunos struggled quite a bit with implementing triples in ACC. There was a lot of pressure on their forums to implement it, but they simply refused to say anything about it until they were sure they could do it, simply to avoid the backlash we saw with Codemasters now recently. So I would actually say CM are doing the right thing here. Regarding what possible other multi-screen options could be added post launch [11:11 in the video]? Well, again we could refer to ACC, which had something called Panini Projection (PP) before proper triples support were implemented. PP isn't as good as proper support but it DID reduce the stretching considerably, even though it reduced the image quality pixel wise, so it's a lot better than nothing (IMO)."

Yes I emailed him directly, after my colleagues worked to clarify things.
I can’t take credit for much here, I’m simply the messenger 🙂

Here is the actual text/statement from our Discord, I have nothing further to add:

Hello everyone.

We'd like to clarify some information based on the wording of EA SPORTS WRC's description on PC platforms:

We really appreciate you all taking the time to share feedback on our approach to multi-screen support for EA SPORTS WRC.

To avoid confusion, we've updated our storefronts to clarify how we're supporting multiple screens.

Furthermore, the development team is working on ways to implement further improvements post-launch.

Keep an eye on our social channels for future updates.

It's a shame not to see pikes peak hill climb again, made by this studio. Luckily, it's still in DR 2015 (and I'm playing there these days ;)). Having a license, and not doing anything or allowing others to do it... goes against the consumers and fans of this rise.

Yeah it's a huge shame PD haven't done anything with it, was in the OG Dirt game as well with the big rigs, was a lot of fun.

Not sure it would have made it into a WRC licensed game anyway, regardless of license. So I guess there is that crumb of comfort.
