You're previous post:
It’s a flaw that has been part of Codemasters since the Stone Age. It was expected to be here as the physics were ported from Dirt Rally 2.0. Given the work they’ve done so far, I think it would have been a bit much to expect a new physics engine.

Lol...

Indeed, I know what I wrote.

There 100% isn’t one. There’s enough evidence in my opinion to disprove the theory completely as well as explanations to why it ‘looks’ like the cars pivot.

Doesn’t mean evidence can’t be shown to prove otherwise and change one’s mind.

I know, it’s shocking to think someone could be proven wrong and not try to cover it up.

The video trying to prove there was one certainly caused vigorous discussion in the Discord Channel. @PJTierney have you seen the video? /S 😂
Ugh, I’ve only seen it 12 times, and how come nobody brought it up 4 years ago when they were all enjoying DiRT Rally 2.0 😅

Sometimes I think people forget that video games are video games, designed for entertainment.

As for whether the theory is true or not, I’m not a handling designer so anything I say will not be accurate. Not once have I considered “central pivot theory” when driving though, I’m too busy avoiding trees and having a good time to care.

Me too.As far as RBR fans complaining about cars turning around a central pivot point are concerned someone made a video on Reddit which seems to provide some counterevidence as to whether their theory is correct.

Seems like the back of the car would smash into the wall if there were one to me.

Indeed, friend. It's just a "visual" effect. I can feel playing without any help, each axis separately. I understand that talking about the king of rallies simulation (but the current one... the "good" one... from 2023... and CM, of course... the only... inimitable... the one that everyone plays secretly, even if they praise the RBR) xD) gives more visits than talking about a game from 20 years ago.

We may not have Toyota...although...mmm:

Haha yeah not like they haven’t had any time to discuss it and make the videos.

Honestly, every time I saw someone post it and tag you I was like, PJ must be playing “take a shot every time someone posts it” by now and be absolutely blind drunk.

I saw the sound guy (forget his name) mentioned he spoke to the physics guys around 2017 and they said there wasn’t a centre pivot. Not quite an official confirmation but as close as we’ve had.

The MG ZR, yes, I’m actually surprised it didn’t make it into the S1600 class in this game to be honest. Was a Codemasters mainstay for a long time, even in Race Driver.

At the same time, think it’ll be a while till I’m bored of the list we have.

TRUE. The list of vehicles is sufficiently rich and varied. I am very happy with the vauxhall nova. Is beautiful. The truth is that the cars chosen by this studio have always seemed to me to be of very good taste. The Talbot... Hillman. A marvel of variety. And they will be well differentiated in their safe driving.

Wow, this chat is really scraping the bottom of the barrel now isn't it... Good thing the game releases next week or we could be in for some seriously dry chat!

I'm trying really hard to complete the final Colin challenge in the 6R4 in Scotland before the new game is out, but man, it's brutal. Minor damage is easy but 68 mph AVG speed, best I've got so far is 67.1 aaarrrh.

It’s a tough challenge, you have to have immense trust in the car and distrust the pace notes. So many 3-4 turns are a lot faster. Think I got 68.7 or something.

I can't remember seeing any camera/view settings in the videos I have watched.
Seat adjustment up, down, left, right forward, backward. And FOV.

Were those features not complete in the preview build?

FOV was shown in the menu in the features deep dive, adjustable for both internal and external views (hopefully that’s console as well as PC).

This video he goes in the controller settings and you can see you can bind controls for seat adjustment. Around 9 minutes in.

Nice, thanks!

I hope it will be better then the seating adjustments in Dirt Rally 2.0

Officially, pre-order is digital only.

I don't know what retailers like GAME and Amazon are doing (I focus on EA only), maybe they have codes that give the same bonuses or maybe they just bundle them in.
Thanks for the clarification! Guess I'll be waiting until the Friday to play it...it'll be a long week :ouch:

This is clearly a marketing answer ... in DR2 was the discussion from the start why it feels sometimes like a hovercraft and the discussion was also from the beginning that it seems to be that the car is turning around a central point and not following the tires.

Nevertheless I really liked DR2 and played it over 450h (edit: yes 450 hours and most in VR) but as a PC VR driver I also disliked this unclear turning which felt unnatural. For sure this time I will wait until the VR version is released and also see what monetarization EA has added to the game.

The newest video I have seen about this topic is this / edit: it seems everybody knows it already :D
EA Sports WRC 23 (physics) analysis

Oh god, hey @PJTierney have you seen this video? 😂

Sorry couldn’t resist.

That’s the video that’s been posted 8000 times across Reddit, discord and wherever else, it’s been debunked in various videos and the guy who made the video hasn’t played the game so 🤷🏻‍♂️

Many times, they are envious of DR 2.0 (or this new WRC) who speak out of spite. Or because they simply want to overlap these types of games for some particular reason xD. Played without help, Lord knows I've never had that "central pivot" feeling. Otherwise, I wouldn't have played. I find it funny that they criticize a thousand and one ridiculous details, really. As if RBR didn't have a THOUSAND (gross) details to criticize: to begin with THE PHYSICS, and on purpose I put it in plural, because it is a game with dozens of different physics...by simple logic, if one was minimally realistic, the others They could not be, since there are very different ones from each other, according to which mod, which plugin, which add on which patch...etc. DR 2.0, on the other hand, broke with all that mediocrity and took a huge qualitative leap, its PHYSICS (SINGLE ONE) is incredibly complex and realistic at the same time. Containing all possible inertia, underturns, overturns, skids, blocks, countersteering, jumps, etc. Easy to go slow...very difficult to go fast.
Now that WRC...it won't be perfect, I can sign that. In fact, I notice a worrying detail and that is that for the first time in the saga, the sensation of speed seems quite unreal to me. In this matter, less is more and here they have gone too far, we will see in the rest of the game. It's one thing to want to convey vertigo and another to want to imitate RBR's jet cars, let's not copy the bad stuff please...!!
In terms of graphics, slow motion, sound, INTERIOR CAMERA, FEELING OF IMMERSION!!...without a doubt WRC will raise the bar even higher again...

Does anyone have a link to one of the debunk videos (a good one)? I didn't really care, but now I want to hear both sides of the argument.

Another really cool thing that’s been discovered in RaceNet. We’ll be able to view telemetry and and data in the app and compare to other runs. This is absolutely brilliant for leaderboard chasing.

The official WRC and historic clubs are also ready to join in the app.

Here Mike shows the Option screen. Where Dirt Rally 2.0 had the option to set gearbox to: Manual Sequential or Manual H-Shifter where it automatically switches depending on the car.

This seems to be missing in EA Sports WRC. That’s a real bummer because right now you have to switch it manually in Options.

Yeah, this is disappointing if true. Really hope it's there or it gets added after release, the game should know what transmission each car has, we shouldn't need to keep changing things in options.
