I most likely won't get most of the achievements since I'll be to busy trashing those pugs around 🤣
This for me is where developers are missing a trick. The thing to remember with games going all in the full hardcore sim is you limit your audience. People will read reviews and if casual reviewers and non racing game guys struggle, majority of casual players will probably skip. Even if you throw all the assists at it, it never really works (pc2, ACC).
DR2.0 had over 12 million players through its life, that’s huge for a rally ‘sim’ and therefore still needs to be fun for a lot of people and WRC will follow that. It’ll be as much sim as they can afford to throw at it before the numbers decline.
If the figures are accurate, DR2 sold nearly 1 million on steam alone, meaning around 11 million coming from console (inc GamePass and the game hitting PS Plus at one point), RBR less than 400k, and probably less than double on console. Those numbers will sit with devs when deciding what to do.
So I’m ok with it not being absolutely all out hardcore sim, because that can be at the detriment of, not only the sale, but also the overall enjoyment and the future of the series.

It cant be that hard to have 2 handling models in a game.
One sim one arcade
Sell double the amount
There's also a "Simulation" steering option in Forza Motorsport, though it's less of a mode. I agree it's been tried multiple times and never works as well in practice as the theory suggests. I think the issue is the physics element can only be "optimal" for one or the other, its nigh on impossible for both. You'd have to have two completely different games on the same "disc" at a core level.Dirt 4 did that, had ‘gamer’ mode which was arcade and then simulation mode which was meant to be as good, if not better, than Dirt Rally. Problem is neither were particularly good and simulation was pretty rubbish.
Never really works when developers do try it sadly.

Also what's with the forum "shuffle" confusing my poor brain. The two Forza games have swapped places in the list and Dirt is now EA WRC and has also moved up the list I think?
I blame that evil Mr @Famine
From what I've seen pre release, it does feel like it deserves to be popular.Yeah and even on Forza the simulation steering is horrendous on a controller.
Sorry you can actually blame me for the shuffle, I suggested it in the forum suggestions a while back and Jordan has obliged it. I think this game will be super popular when it launches and thought it deserved its own space. With the clubs, moments, photomode etc, should’ve plenty to justify its own home 🙂.
The game already has an arcade and sim mode, assists either on or off to whatever degree is needed.
Strange that in a game that is not dedicated to Rally (Forza Motorsport 7)...from what I saw in the list of cars, there are 2 Toyota models (205 and 185)
When you make sure we get proper triple screen support.Cheeky branding request from me, can we get SPORTS to be all caps in the thread and category?
The issue is more between Toyota and Codemasters than EA, sadly. There’s been a few issues between EA and Toyota since they pulled licensing because they didn’t want their cars to be involved in illegal street racing. This seems to have hurt getting Toyota licensing for any EA game. They’re clearly willing to license the rally cars to others (heck even WRC Generations had a Celica and the Corolla), but not to EA.
The Rally1 Yaris gets in because it’s part of the WRC license.
It’s frustrating but it must be equally frustrating for Codemasters knowing that Toyota licensed cars to the last WRC game.
Dirt Rally 1 and 2 also did not feature Toyota cars. There’s been a few issues between EA and Toyota since they pulled licensing because they didn’t want their cars to be involved in illegal street racing. EA WRC - "Long easy right. Maybe!"

I dont know how legit it is but it seems CM got blacklisted by Toyota over a royalty payment.
Oh well I hope Codemasters can get some Ferrari Rally cars in.
Who needs Toyota when they are acting like p*icks.
Some older rally games that come to mind that I played and most had the Toyota Corolla or some Celica officially (not actually from the World Rally Championship).Yeah I’d read that too, shame if true, stuff happens and you need to move on.
I can live without Toyota, but with that said, I did always love the Corolla WRC and would love to see a Codemasters version of it.

The Toyota brand thing is a real shame. I don't understand what could have gone wrong... the representation of Toyota by this ingenious studio was always very good.
Sim's final video before release as he'sreached the three video limit which has been imposed upon him by EA. It has some discussion regarding the physics.
Me too.I'm glad Sim finally got a preview code.
As far as RBR fans complaining about cars turning around a central pivot point are concerned someone made a video on Reddit which seems to provide some counterevidence as to whether their theory is correct.Yay, he's joined the Creator Network. About bloody time.

Seems like the back of the car would smash into the wall if there were one to me.
You're previous post:There 100% isn’t one. There’s enough evidence in my opinion to disprove the theory completely as well as explanations to why it ‘looks’ like the cars pivot.
The video trying to prove there was one certainly caused vigorous discussion in the Discord Channel. @PJTierney have you seen the video? /S 😂
