So yeah I preordered it too after pontificating for a second or two😂 off work tomorrow so hopefully get lots of time with it before the wife gets home , bought it through Steam on PC but I’m guessing (hoping) that it’s crossplay as far as online time trials are concerned?

Yes, Full crossplay 👍

I have bid farewell to Dirt Rally 2.0 in the best way possible. Nailing the achievement I desperately wanted, the sub 7 minute run on Newhouse Bridge in the Impreza S4. Did it in 6:59.499 and joined the 0.02% of players who have done it.

500+ hours logged, the best rally game I’ve ever played. Thanks Dirt Rally 2.0, you’ve been a good pal.

Not long now then. 4AM GMT/UTC
Ridiculously we've just been sent a review code.

And I mean just. The email arrived 24 minutes ago. It reiterated the 0401 UTC embargo.

It takes more time than I have remaining to write a review, never mind play the game enough to actually review it, and there's zero chance I'll be staying up for the next five hours anyway. So for anyone waiting to take the plunge based on what we say... maybe wait until Friday?

Congrats!!! What a great way to leave such a great game.

After a few attempts to learn the route it's so much fun going flatout through that stage, Especially in the second half through the forest. 👍

I don't think you're alone. I've been monitoring the videos the last few days, and all there is for now from the "important" YouTubers (I would consider GTP to also be "important") are scheduled streams at early access release time with titles like "I start career mode" and "let's check out WRC". Not a single "WRC Review" in the pipeline.

That leads me to believe there was no review embargo and press keys were handed out late on purpose, to roughly coincide with early access.

Hope everyone enjoys the game when they get on it. I've decided to go to bed and play in the morning. I've woken to go the the toilet and I'm tempted to try it but It will be there in the morning all the same. 😊

Seems a better version of DR2.0 after a quick go this morning on time trials. Alot of frame rate drops while doing the longest stage in Greece. Had a trip to Mexico and seemed OK there. But I did fiddle with the HDR settings. Whether that made a difference or not I'll have to wait until later when I've cleaned up....Best get cleaning.lol

With steering wheel, very good experience. Much better than in DR 2.0. Now... with a controller, it is an imprecise and fast control at the same time. I have adjusted several parameters, but it remains the same. It's a bit like PC 2.

Does career mode needs online like it was in Dirt Rally 2.0? Or it works offline?

Nope career mode works offline which is fantastic.

I’ve had about 40 minutes with the game before school run, done some stages on Oceania and Iberia with the Impreza S4 and Fabia R5 before I jumped into a Rally1 on Sardinia and then an R5 on wet Oceania. Playing on Xbox Series X.

I love it, there’s a much more noticeable feeling of weight with the cars versus DR2.0, especially on tarmac, they feel a lot more planted on the road which I really enjoy the feeling of. There is maybe a touch too much grip even on the wet mud but it’s a minor gripe.

Tarmac feels hugely better than before, lots more grip, lots more weight and they feel planted. Not perfect, again grip is plentiful and that can feel a bit jarring sometimes but it could be that I’m just used to the floaty feel from DR2 and WRCG. Either way, it feels better by a long way.

I’m impressed with the visuals, the cars look fantastic and the environments are beautiful, some of the views are stunning from what I’ve done so far, Sardinia in particular has some beautiful vistas. I have noticed a few stutters, but nothing as drastic as what some PC users are reporting. Nothing that will put me off or stop me playing.

So far, so very, very good.

I know there’s a photo thread but just wanted to throw these in here as well. My first photomode shots. Check out the dust trail behind the Puma.

Mmmmm... It's strange. There is a very strange immediacy when turning, both on gravel and asphalt. You don't feel a glide as natural and progressive as in DR 2.0. It's like it's a WRC 10... it's very strange. I rushed into my first impressions.

Update: on top of severe shuttering and framedrops, ps5 also freezes. It really needs to be patched. Pity.

Anyway completed rally school. Turning on asphalt is so immediate, you need to get used to it. grave and snow really easy to get the feeling.

Enjoyed playing so far, highly addictive, even with a few bugs to iron out.
Only problem besides the occasional stuttering, is I can't get the old H2 and H3 rear wheel drives to work. When I drop the clutch and handbrake, it just slightly bounces but won't go, as if the handbrake is still on. Every other car works. Interested if anyone else has encountered this or has a solution.
I'm on PS with a Fanatec DD Pro + handbrake. Any ideas?
