There is too much grip, and that causes the cars to spin unnaturally. When you go out pushing the throttle to the maximum, there is hardly any skidding. In DR 2.0 there is much more drift. What this WRC is missing, so that the car turns more naturally. There is also a problem with rear engine cars... there is instantaneous oversteer at the slightest turn. Added to the immediacy of the turn, it is very strange. Because the car rotates with inertia, but stops suddenly and recovers its trajectory without problem. This game is a hybrid, like Dirt 4. As a simulator, it's nowhere near as DR 2.0... and as an arcade, it's too rough.

Not sure I agree with the comparison to Dirt 4. It has more grip than DR2 but the cars do still slide plenty and it feels very natural. Is it too much grip? I actually think it depends on the car. The Rally1 cars have what I expect, lots, they have loads of aero and the best tyres, the Fiesta R5 has too much, the Fabia is spot on and the Impreza S4 is spot on.

It’ll take a bit of adjustment coming from DR2.0 but I don’t think the comparison to Dirt 4 is something I get onboard with personally.

Are ps5 performance issues worse than Xsx? I'm away and still working out which version to get. Pro for PS5 is that I've got a wheel for it but most of the serious complaints seem to be coming from that direction.

Looking through the Discord chat the main complaints do seem to be coming from PS5 and PC users. Haven’t seen many from Xbox, I’m on Xbox too and can’t say I’ve had a bad experience so far.

Even the co-driver, seen complaints that the notes are too late even on the earliest setting but I haven’t found this to be the case with the stages I’ve run so far.

In terms of performance issues, what I'm seeing is that the stutters etc go away after you've played through it a bit, something about UE4 filters loading as you go or something, which is weird but at least fairly encouraging. I'm sure it'll get improved with patches anyway.

I think it's the shader caching.

So far, it’s nice to drive on controller on ps5. Visually I find it’s toned down/muted compared to Dirt Rally 2.0 as they have seem to have gone for a more realistic look. It’s makes the readability of the stages a little bit easier though. It sounds fantastic. My first go was in the Nova and it was just screaming!

Just played Monte and got a lot of screen tearing which is unfortunate but expect to be fixed. Not sure if there is the odd stutter as well but again I expect this to be ironed out sooner rather than later.

A small thing but it’s a shame it call outs nicknames rather than surnames. Also a shame time trials are locked to certain conditions.

Overall, very positive.

The Monte Rally is already on the known buglist from EA that has performance issues.

In terms of Xbox Controller settings, the tip I got from @PJTierney for GRiD and DR is still valid here:

  • Steering Sensitivity from 50 to 100
  • Steering Linearity 3 or 4 (depending on preference)
  • Reduce deadzone in the steer left/right to be lower, depending on how much stick drift you have (will be visible in the interface)

Doing this gives you FAR more control when driving than the stock settings. Highly recommended.

Edit: After testing on tarmac I found that even Linearity 4 is quite twitchy. I'm now on Sensitivity 100 and Linearity 5.

I have heard it’s Mexico, Monte, Croatia and Japan causing issues. Only tried Monte so far out of them. One issue I have come across so far is the calls set at earliest are not an early as expected. The timing may need tweaking.

Tried Mexico now and got screen tearing.

The WRC Rally1 cars are outrageous!

Having played for an hour on PC I had a couple of minor issues, but otherwise it's been smooth and good looking.

  • Had some troubles setting resolution (game defaulted to something weird then only gave me half a screen when I got it to change). Solved after restart.
  • I had some stutter in the first time trial, but when I replayed the stage it was stutter free. It's likely to have been shader compilation one-off.

Performance wise no issues on the Monte stage I drove. Didn't notice any issue with the pace notes, had no stutters and performance was similar to other rallies. Maybe I've been lucky?

Getting 90FPS on everything Ultra with DLSS set to Quality. 1440p. 5800x3D with RTX 4080 and 32GB RAM. GPU usage is at 50% and CPU usage is at 30% . Portugal rally (edited)

Finished Rally School and the three Moments available to me. Couple of stutters but nothing major. Environment graphics seem slightly downgraded from DR 2.0 but still seem pretty good to me. The dynamic lighting is fantastic. Onto the next mode.

Running the game right now on my triple monitor simrig. 7680x1440p with everything set to Ultra and DLSS set to Quality. Getting 80-90FPS. GPU usage 85% and CPU usage around 40% with my 5800x3D and 4080.

Having to wait patiently for my physical copy to arrive is proving tricky now all the comments and reviews are coming in!

Can anyone confirm whether the Croatia Breen tribute livery is in the game?

It is not, I think it was confirmed not to be a while back. Would be amazing to see it though.

Tried my hand in the livery editor to recreate my old real world Twingo RS. Basic but functional.😆Got the blue very wrong.

I think it's just a settings issue it seems to have got better on my end with a bit of tweaking

The important thing is... How does the Maxi Megane look?!

Won't get playing it til late tonight, but I preinstalled it from work. Very excited.

I played quite a bit very early morning.

I completed all the rally school on all surfaces and the first two moments with a gold.

I’m on Ps5 with a T300rs wheel.

Wheel works very well out of the box, very good handbrake even if mapped on the circle button. Really easy to use. Force feedback is good.

Graphics on ps5 are not top notch, colors feel like the first dirt rally 1. Honestly it look a bit worse that dirt 2 on ps4 or at least on par. Surely good but not something you would imagine for a next gen only title. Nowhere near forza horizon or GT.

Shuttering and framedrops on ps5 are very notable and need to be patched. Performance is really poor at this stage. It freezes in quick rally and time trial too.

Handling is very easy on gravel and snow, a lot of grip. Tarmac is really difficult to get used to. Cars are very responsive in turning and it is easy to overcook. If you get the feel the grip is very high.

Car builder and livery editor are cool. Tomorrow i will start career which looks Amazing

Had a quick go this morning, mixed feelings so far. XBSX.
  • Screen tearing
  • Seat adjustment settings not saving in cockpit mode and defaulting to original mid way through the stage, messing me up, really, really annoying.
  • Graphics seem a downgrade compared to DR2.0.
  • Handing not as good as DR2.0, or maybe just different. Too early to say this tbh.
  • Xbox impulse triggers not working, I'm finding this point so disappointing, it was perfect in DR1/2.0 why on earth has it not been utilised, or if it has it's so weak they might as well not bothered. This was the same in Grid Legends, it's this now the norm from CM ? I get so much info l feedback from them in DR2.0, gutted.

I will play more later. Oh, the first moments are so easy to Gold, I've even stopped the car mid stage to reset the seat position and still easily won. I hope this is just because it's early moments.
