Yeah!! And I could feel it here in Manchester about 1am the house had a little shake :D My first words where WTF was that! the whole place was rumbling

4.8 on the Richter scale! not huge but good enough :D

Pretty exciting! I've never experienced an earthquake before! What about you guys in London? I bet it was worse down there

News:
Large parts of England and Wales have been hit by an earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale.
Buildings shook for up to 30 seconds in parts of the West Midlands, Wales, North Yorkshire, London, and Wiltshire.

The tremor began at approximately 0054 BST and its epicentre was around Wolverhampton and Dudley in the West Midlands.

There was minor structural damage but no reports of any injuries.

West Midlands Police said they had 5,000 calls to their switchboard within an hour of the tremor happening and 600 calls to the 999 number.

Dudley police said 12 people in nightclothes walked into their local police station.

In the latest earth tremor, the whole length of Wales was shaken and people over 120 miles apart felt two sudden shockwaves.

I have had a desire to live in California again, but it's such an earthquake prone area and that has kept me away from returning there. I think that I'll just stay put here in Colorado so when California finally breaks off and slides out into the Pacific, I will be living in some prime beach front property.

Boombexus pah, I think you should be called wussbexus :D

Yeah, I guess earthquakes are over rated huh.!. OK, California, here I come! :D

So Lotus, are earthquakes over there a rare occurence or do they happen from time to time?

I dont think earthquakes are common in the UK, because we are not on a fault line (or something like that) or where two tectonic plates rub together. I did allot of stuff on earthquakes last year for my Geography A-Level but I seem to have forgotten allot of it.

1984...5.4 biggest on land in Lleyn, north Wales
1990....5.1 in Bishop's Castle, Shropshire
2000.....4.2 in Warwick
2001.....4.1 shook Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire

Chef's intuition!

Just don't think pork pies will go over well on a menu out here. But hey, you never know.

Are there any other cooking methods you use besides boiling?

Hey are you tryin to say that us brits cant cook :P

well its true

Anyway im half indian so I can actually use other methods of cooking. Unlike my dad who just puts everything in the oven, no matter what. Oh he likes to boil the taste out of vegetables as well :D

 I can just imagine boom now thinking about pork in a pie

They're not what you think boom they're basically a lump of :spammy: in pastry to be eaten cold!. Well to me they are

Speak for yourself love! Some of us can cook!

And what's with the "Seattle :(" location?

We're too far north for the earthquake, although my parents are only a few miles from the epicentre.
