Elegance Automotive Guild - Remembering TurnLeft.

:ouch: It does look good with all those camp sites lit up 👍 I imagine the Shifter was fun, not the most stable thing to take round the ring. Turns small bumps into launch pads in a few places :scared:
Oh it was fun alright. She was doing a fair bit of bottoming out and if it had titanium skid plates like the F1's, it would've made for quite the light show.

3958 for the Merc in the Big Willow drift seasonal. You can get gold in the first corner :dopey:.

Not sure what I'm going to do with gold chrome paint though :boggled:.

I tried a couple of laps at the Ring with DS3 the other day, both around 9:05. It was easier to stay on the road than with the wheel but obviously not as smooth.

WOW!!!

I'm curious to hear what Ridox's most traveled track is. My money is on Tsukuba, but I have a feeling we might be surprised by his result. I've gotta say Pete, I do chuckle whenever I see an Australian flag next to a username when discussing favorite tracks - 99% of the time the response is "Bathurst"... So predictable! :sly: 👍

That's because it's ours & the Southern Hemisphere's Nordschleife  :D
Go for a search of early pics of the circuit at autopics.com.au and you'll understand how far the track has come. The 1938 Australian Grand Prix was held there when the surface was unsealed
Whenever the Europeans have come out to drive here, they've mostly stated that it reminds them of a mini-Nurburgring. I always wondered where the hell they were talking about & then I got to see the on-board lap by Derek Bell as part of 'In car 956'. Praise enough for me 👍

I certainly meant no offense toward you or any other Australian (or any nationality, actually) who loves Bathurst. In fact, I think it is absolutely one of the best tracks in GT6. I just think it's funny because it seems like no other Australian track receives any love at all when I see discussions of tracks here on GT6. Surely, there must be at least one other track in Australia worth bragging about, no? I am not quite so informed when it comes to race tracks. I know most of the really famous ones, but occasionally I will see mention of a track that I have to Google.

No offense taken my friend :) 👍
As for other Australian circuits I love, Phillip Island in my home state & home to the Aussie round of the MotoGP is mentioned as a classic European style circuit by the 2-wheel brigade. We've had some great circuits here but more than a few have gone by the wayside now due to the urban spread of housing. Warwick Farm, Catalina Park, Surfers Paradise raceway & Oran Park come to mind :guilty: The closest circuit to my home, Sandown, (20 minutes drive away), has been there since 1963 and yet is constantly under threat from those that have moved to the area & have the gumption to whinge about the noise :irked: The whingers have succeeded in having restrictions put in place that prohibit track activity before 12pm on a Friday, limiting practice time during the big 3-day events

My favourite Aussie track is Phillip Island

The track has a great flow to it, and the views the driver gets in a few places must add to the excitement. Just beware of low flying sea-gulls

I've driven, flag marshalled & been one of the crowd there & it's pretty spectacular from any vantage point. As you drive down the main straight, it looks like the track leads straight into Bass Strait & you're going to need flippers
The seagulls & other larger water birds have caused more than their fair share of damage too. The late, great motorcycle World Champ, Barry Sheene, called Phillip Island "the gateway to hypothermia"
It's not the place you want to be with a stiff southerly coming directly from Antartica :nervous:

WOW! That track looks absolutely gorgeous!! Me want...Me want!!!

Pete, I know exactly what you're saying about a-hole people who choose to move next to a race track and then have the audacity to complain about the noise. In a similar vein, I happen to live next to a once beautiful country club, which has been around for probably 50 years. New housing developments went up about 10 years ago that included several homes that lined a few holes on the course. It didn't take long for the home owners to start complaining about errant golf shots landing in their yards or even occasionally hitting their homes/bouncing off a rooftop. First of all, butt-munch, you bought that house knowing full well what borders your backyard. Secondly, homes that are within spitting distance of a golf course hole are usually quite pricey because of its location! It didn't take long for some jerks to sue or threaten to sue and three holes on this fantastic golf course had to be completely re-designed into short Par 3's to eliminate the threat of a ball landing in their backyard. Oh, the horror!!

There was a little sweet justice when the country club had one of the home owners arrested and banned from the property after he was caught sneaking onto the Par 3 that was behind his house around sundown and hitting balls. Oh, I was so happy when I read about it in the newspaper. This jerk was actually a decent golfer, not just a weekend warrior. He bought the house because of its location (that is my belief) and then forced the country club to basically destroy the golf course (it was a very well respected and highly rated course before the forced changes) by making the changes. Two of the holes that had to be shortened into Par 3's were the #1 and #2 handicapped rated holes on the course. They were great golf holes...Were...

Yup. People suck.

Sorry Pete. But ALB and @Gyro1780. I've just opened the sierra room in BG's club to go driving for a while. If any of you are interested :)
No need to apologise TC, you guys have fun turning laps. No doubt I could learn a few things & the quick way around La Sierra of you all :) 👍
That reminds me, I found a terrific website for all things Corvette & they have an amazing depth of information available on the C1 (as well as others) if anyone is interested. Point your browser to:

The only thing you'd learn from me is how not to do it :)

And cheers for the link 👍 I don't remember seeing that page before. We found a few interesting things on there before. I think we got a lot of performance data and other specs there :) I might even have pinched some of their pictures for the our post :guilty:

Well you got me intrigued, first corner you say? I'm usually lousy at Drifting but I decided to give it a go, on the 4th attempt I got 22xx  on the first corner, thought I was going to set an all time new record , but screwed up 2 of the last 3 corners, finished with 3438, now that was something .

Not sure what I'm going to do with gold chrome paint though :boggled:
You just never know, maybe that will be the new fashion color of the month, might as well keep it just in case .

So you get to play with both controllers, I'm really curious about the wheel, a friend lent me one for a couple of days but I just couldn't get the hang of it, also with my used up knees I figured I'd have to install like if I was in a car to be comfortable with it, from a normal desk sitting position I was really not getting any joy from it, also when going off track it became totally uncontrollable.

I've added your trophy 👍 and mine ;) to the 300SL trophy room, :D.

EAG - Mercedes 300SL '54 - Trophy Room

@RMan72 & @Gyro1780 , I noticed that both of you have done this with the C1 :mischievous:, now now boys, you thought that you could hide this from me :D? You will both be getting detention, 1 lap on the Nurb in reverse . Can you confirm with me if it was with our fabled C1 please, thanks guys and nice going 👍 .

@Brewguy44 , SHAME ON YOU !!!, you of all the people doing a drift trial and not with the 300SL but with the 250Gt Berlinetta , you will be called for a disciplinary hearing by your own lawyers, at least part justice was served, you got a lousy score with it when you could have attained greatness with the 300SL (ha-ha I got a better score at drifting than you), just wait until @Thorin Cain hears from this, you'll be scrubbing the floors with a tooth brush.

@Woodski_427 @lilcat89 , @Gyro1780 , @RMan72 , @Brewguy44 , @Thorin Cain , @ALB123 , @Bowtie-muscle , @Ridox2JZGTE , @OdeFinn , @joaosoarescso , @Pete05 (I know you can't but I still think I should tag you) and of course @danbojte .

Our good friend Dan  has just created an event for the 300SL at the Nurburgring, I hope that I will have the pleasure of driving and racing all of you there. I would have one request to make to Dan, would it be possible to start the first race 10 minutes earlier for this one, the extra lap on the Nurb makes it difficult for me to finish the race and then race to work on time, if you can great, if you can't well great too and I'll do what I can 👍.

Anybody else who wants to join can by going to the following address, the more the merrier, I think :scared:.

Thanks for thinking of me TL :) 👍
If I can't be there, er...digitally, I'll ride along in spirit form ;)
Wishing you all a strong connection with no drop outs and try not to leave the tarmac from fits of laughter :D
Let me know how it goes.
