Elegance Automotive Guild - Remembering TurnLeft.

Took the Merc for another spin round the ring, within a few laps I lowered my time to 8:41.755. I took a break (No coffee this time @TurnLeft as you've banned it ) and then went back out, first lap was a mid 8:42, the next one blew my mind when I crossed the line in 8:38.997 .

I'd also like to welcome @Bowtie-muscle to the garage, I'm a huge fan of your Classic Muscle Tunes. ABS 0 and Comfort tyres do take some time to get used to but once you start to get to grips with it, they enhance your driving pleasure and skill.

First I`d like to thank you for posting this before I did the next update :D, second I take away my coffee ban :scared:, why drink all you want :mischievous:, S??T, that was a leap man, and super thanks for putting the replay , If I learn to chop 2 seconds of my time learning from it, that would be fantastic. I hope that @Gyro1780 can find use of it so he can push you just a bit more , nice going my friend that is spectacular.

I really understand you about being busy , I still can't figure how you pulled off everything you did so far. As for your question "Any rule on how bad you can be?", the answer is .... no . There are some pretty amazing drivers who have taken their time to try this and there are a few of us learning from them, it's just about having fun with a car that was tuned with IRL settings that we found could fit and seeing if we can master it.

Driving with no aids has been a blessing for me, It's made me a better driver and discover a new facet of GT6, + some hilarious runs on line with the people that drop by. Super well tuned cars are great and so are Replicas, it's like having completely different menus to choose from, need a change, take that one, next day try the other, just wish I had a bit more free time.

I'm very happy that you dropped by , you've been an incredible asset to :gtplanet: and a great help to so many people, and yes it can become very addictive driving this way ;).

I'm off to work so I'll update the scoreboard with your lap time tomorrow, and BTW 9:01 is a very good time for your first time 👍.
Thanks for all that you and TC have put together with the boys, it was great fun and I am determined to find time and run more laps. Never thought I would like that old SL SO MUCH. In GT5, I never golded those events.
Thanks for stopping by and trying out our 300sl Mr Bowtie :) Personally I'm very surprised to see you stop by and try out the car :) And even more surprised your first stop was nothing to do with our C1

I'm really glad you chose the Merc though and even more glad you like it 👍 I really do hope you enjoyed the experience as much as you appear to :) And don't worry about a 9:01, I know that you have little if any experience with no abs and the fact you chose to try the car that way and run The Ring says a great deal :)

I echo TL's point above. Your contributions to this community are immeasurable  You have always been willing to extend the hand of friendship to everyone who shows an interest in the tuning forum. Especially the newer members among us. Thanks for all you do :) And thanks for taking the time to try, enjoy and let us know your thoughts about our little Gullwing
My pleasure, really. Have been meaning to give it a go Just needed to make the time. The C1 had me intrigued, and I still want to try it out. One of these days:ouch:.

Thanks for the warm welcome, and have no fear of me beating your time. That's just insanely fast in this car. I would need more time to run a whole lot more laps to even get a sniff of your exhaust. Very impressive, all you guys:)

This afternoon/evening I spent more time, no make that a lot more time than I wanted to, on a little project I'd been meaning to get to for a while. My thumbs have retired, my brain hurts & as for the repair bill, let's not talk about that :embarrassed: The results however make it well worth the effort.

As you can see, I've had to take a screen shot of a photo on my iPhone due to not being online but, guys that's one helluva Gullwing
If I think about it honestly, I'm not sure I can threaten @RMan72 for the title but maybe, just maybe, a 39 is in there somewhere if I have a magic muffin & wash it down with a double espresso :D

Guys, I'm not contesting anything but are you sure you're doing it in,

Arcade Mode-Time Trial
and
Track Grip set to Real?

Edit: And Comfort Medium Tyres?

If yes, accept my apologies and my admiration for your achievements. 👍
I'm not capable to improve my time; I tried again yesterday but no success for me. :grumpy:

That's exactly how I did it. As per the posted rules.

Car and track have been set up as per the EAG rules.
A lot of my time has come from learning the track and finding the limits of the Merc.

Big gains can be had by being able to get on the power earlier out of some of the bends, especially those going onto the long fast sections

OK, thank you, my friends. 👍 It seems I have to try it harder. :nervous:

:grumpy: I suppose I should really say well done for such a wonderful achievement :guilty: And congratulate you on joining some of the great driver we have sitting way up there on the leaderboard :( But after dropping two places in the space of such a short time....I just don't feel like it. So he can...

Nice work mate :D And glad you enjoyed the ride

I appreciate your concern @danbojte :) I would be wondering the same thing if I was you  These guys are posting some ridiculously fast times :D Other than @Pete05, who unfortunately I'm not likely going to have the pleasure of racing on-Line, I've shared some track time with most of the guys on the board now :) And I'd say I trust they've all been honest about it 👍

OK, thank you, my friends. 👍 It seems I have to try it harder. :nervous:
You have to try harder!? I'm still up there at 9 mins :(

I know the Nordschleife as well as any track in GT6 so I knew where I was going in that respect. The hardest things I had to get used to where the CM tyres and the ABS 0. There's seconds to be had if you get the run out of the double right hander after the Flugpatz, the uphill right that leads to Bergwerk, the right that follows that & leads up the long uphill section and of course the long right onto the long straight that leads to the finish line.
OK, thank you, my friends. 👍 It seems I have to try it harder. :nervous:
Just don't overdrive it like I was doing on my early laps :) 👍

I'd join you guys online in a heartbeat. I know how much fun you all have :(
Some of the best times I've had on any GT title, have been 2-player against competent mates or chasing ghost laps set by others in a faster car. Fun times.

It's 6:00 AM , I open my computer to go do some updates and bang, alert city , ... think I read something somewhere about a magic muffin, could sure use one right now (yawn).

1st order of the day, @Bowtie-muscle @Pete05 ,
I've added both of you to the 300SL scoreboard, I know Bowtie a bit from seeing his lap times from past events and I think that for that track you did an excellent time 👍, you're only 3 seconds off me but that's like nothing if you get a couple of curves nailed right :D. Nice going mate and that was really such a wonderful surprise to see you here :), thanks.

As for Pete, you sure you didn't have that magic muffin  ? I'm really sad that you don't have internet, maybe one day . As for your lap time, I was expecting something like that, but I'm still in shock , that was an excellent lap , for me driving on the Nurb or Sierra is like driving in the country side, I just forget where I am on the track and just can't remember where which curve is coming up next :dopey:, (who am I talking too ... ah yes ...), so my  for putting so many laps on this track to be able to remember it, maybe by GT21 I'll get it right .

Yeah thanks for that :( Now I have to go again
Me to , have you noticed how @Brewguy44 has been getting so much better as a driver? :scared:, we're going to have to put a lot more time or we won't even see the residue smoke of his tires soon .

Big gains can be had by being able to get on the power earlier out of some of the bends, especially those going onto the long fast sections
That's what I try, ... but ... ooops, no that was a curve there, sure thought it was the long straight,.. oh, hello mister wall, how are you today...

I know, practice, practice, practice .

OK, thank you, my friends. 👍 It seems I have to try it harder. :nervous:
:mischievous:, the distance between you and 1st is the same as the distance between me and you, so if you have to try harder what does that leave me with,... hardier, hardiest , ... and what about TC, hardiest-harder-hardier .

We should form a club, call it the "Ghost Busters", to chase all those phantoms of the past that are haunting us on the track :D.
 To you all, and don't count Spooky out (@Gyro1780 ) yet, he may come back and haunt us all :cool:.

Thanks TL but no performance enhancing muffins were used  I've looked into getting the internet connected where I live but it nearly cost me my sanity
I know I said I know the Nordschleife as well as any of the tracks but you can exclude La Sierra in that statement. I just don't use it enough so there's no danger of me snagging a trophy there :guilty: I was happy enough to get gold in the NISMO GT-R!
One of my favorite things to do in GT6 is driving the Nordschleife at midnight, 100% rain, no driveline & in-car view. If I can learn La Sierra well enough to do that, I'll be one happy chappy :)

Not sure if I can find more time to try and lower my time, but I sure could use a magic muffin. These boys are insane  there is no way I can find 15-20 seconds to catch up, maybe, just maybe, another 3.:embarrassed:

Thanks for leaving the door open and allowing me to jump in:tup:

He sure has 👍 I'll be trying to catch up at some point over the weekend. When I'm not driving round in circles that is :)

driving the Nordschleife at midnight, 100% rain, no driveline & in-car view.
Don't knock it till you try it 👍 It's pretty funny in the 125 SPL karts. That little torch bulb really doesn't help much though  One of the silly ideas someone had once on GT5 :)

 Karts
It didn't even enter my mind. I haven't tried to drive any of the karts on the full circuits since the very early days of GT6. I tried the Shifter kart at Bathurst & it said no so I shelved the idea altogether :grumpy:
Is it the shifter kart you're suggesting? I might try that in the dry daytime first though. A few of the bumps might see me clearing the guardrail

No it was the one before the shifter kart I'm sure :)
It was interesting to say the least  Best to use the 24hr track though for any midnight madness :D There's a bit more ambient light around the track to help things a little. Otherwise all you see of the kart in front is their light beam bouncing around of all the ARMCO or pointing back at you every now and again

Yeah I found that out when I had a look in the garage. I couldn't resist taking the shifter kart for a drive & was expecting it to be faster to be honest. It topped out at around 190km/h :guilty:
Must've broken my neck 3 times but didn't clear any guardrail & land on any campers :scared:

:ouch: It does look good with all those camp sites lit up 👍 I imagine the Shifter was fun, not the most stable thing to take round the ring. Turns small bumps into launch pads in a few places :scared:
