Elegance Automotive Guild - Remembering TurnLeft.

Well busy morning for me. that will teach me not to go play with the boys instead of doing my work :D.

First off, @Thorin Cain , your pictures have been added to the gallery, great pics my friend 👍, now where were you when we needed those :mischievous::P.

I also updated the Grand Tour Scoreboard, hmm, I smell something fishy here ....:odd:...

@Brewguy44 , I've added your trophy to the 300SL room, good going my friend 👍EAG - Mercedes 300SL '54 Trophy Room

New Drift Record (For Me) :D 👍 The Non-Race Car Drift Trial in The 300SL - 4,798 👍 👍 👍

Woo Hoo Trophy Time!!!

@danbojte Try it with CH Tires. You'll get a better drift from her.

Try to keep her in 2nd gear, if you can and she will just drift away!! :D

I haven't spun out, the rear stays put, but if she slows down a little and you'll lose your drift.

Thank you BG. ;) I'm the worst drifter you've ever seen so far.
I think my brain is trained for keeping the car on the road, safe, smooth and as fast as possible and it considers a drift as an error, an alarm. :scared:
Thank you anyway.

Why thank you :dopey: Still fiddling about with the greasy bits :P Iwould have done so before but you guys did great too 👍 and I had more than enough good ones to work with

What!?

Well I was expecting you to be a little in front of me :mischievous:, could be the MT that's throwing you off , or maybe ... you're trying to get a psychological :crazy:advantage in making us think that you'll be sitting in the back benchers so that when we race you'll have the surprise effect :D. Mind you, I just took it out on the Nurb. and was closer to your time than the one I got , ... and I thought I was going to pulverize my record lap just like that

... ah well I guess we'll both need some practicing.

You know what they say, all work and no play....:) It was more fun this way :D
It was hilarious , I think we broke all the racing rules, if I got a dollar for every time I got bumped in the back I would be a wealthy man this morning, and @Brewguy44 speeding along like a missile in that SRT was just something to see, didn't realize that Dodge didn't include brakes with their cars . I hope that @Gyro1780 didn't find us to barbaric :scared:, we did get a bit wild at the end :mischievous:.

I agree with you that the C1 had an advantage on this track, we should try the Nurb. next time where the SL300 will have more room to use it's extra speed 👍.

It was great fun meeting up with you guys online for a cruise round Circuito de la Sierra. It was interesting running both the EAG cars together & comparing the differences in speed & handling. The Corvette looked the slightly better of the two.👍
The cruise soon turned competitive once the Ridox Replica cars came out to play. I think i laughed most of the way round the last lap with some of the overtaking manoeuvres we were all doing. Trying to out-brake each other into the corners & going for the small gap between two cars side by side on the straights
It was the most fun i've had online in ages. Normally i just find a quiet room with clean racers & drive lap after lap until i get bored of the track.
Hope to see you all online again soon:cheers:

Funny you should say that, just took her out for another spin and did a 9:03.547 on lap 1 :) MT may be throwing me a little but it's the lack of experience on the track that's costing my most (even more than dodgy driving:embarrassed:) I'm the guy that only goes to the ring when he has to  I much prefer circuits where you can have another attempt every couple of minute instead of having to wait another 9 before getting back to that corner that I messed up big the last time, then forget how you messed it up and do it again:banghead: Anyway, I'm going back out after a little more coffee to fuel the old grey matter to see if I can get under 9 mins 👍

It was :) For the best part I thought we were fairly well behaved :dopey: That SRT was flying wasn't it well in the braking zones, The speed he came through at was  The Andalucians had to go out and fix quite a few cliff-side barriers this morning :lol:Seriously I wish we could save a replay of free run laps, we'd have had a few cracking pictures to share from that one 👍 Like BG in a tree :), me, most likely pointing perpendicular to the road :sly: your whale-tail and @Gyro1780's tears pouring out from behind his visor from laughing his 🤬 off at our shenanigans :D

We really do need to do that again it was awesome fun :)👍

Yeah some of those overtake attempts were pretty funny, I had to try and stop myself laughing too loud as there were others asleep but I couldn't help it most of the time :) Glad you joined us, it was a blast :D:tup:

Oh man...I am SO jealous. When I got home last night, I saw a message where I think it was TC asking BG to join him (or vice-versa) in the 300SL Private Message. The time stamp was like an hour old, so I figured you guys probably would be finishing up soon and I just decided to go through my GTPlanet Alerts. I totally could have joined you guys if I would have just jumped on my PS3 as soon as I read those messages. Oh...the jealousy is overflowing!! :banghead: :grumpy: :banghead:

Playing cat & mouse with friends is so much fun. It's also extremely beneficial to learning decent racing skills. Speaking from personal experience, I really don't "learn" anything from racing the AI in Career Mode or Seasonal Events. The AI is just too horrible. Even when I use a car that is 50PP (or more) less than the allowed PP of an event, you still the first 10 cars like they're standing still and then eventually overtake the leader. It's so bad... But, a good cat & mouse session with friends can help me improve my 'real' racing skills tremendously. How else am I going to learn how hard to brake when following someone on the bumper? How else am I going to learn how to pass an equally powerful car? Etc...Etc...

I like 'real' racing, like the Ridox Fan Club events we do on Saturdays, but I also love a good session of cat & mouse or follow the leader...and even some relaxing non-competitive driving. It still helps me learn how to gauge my braking when following behind a person or persons.

I saw the message 29 minutes after it was posted, I took a chance, next time I'll post a message here saying I'm in so if anybody wants to come they could do so. As for learning, yes it is quite a bit different.

I've been thinking of maybe make a sort of driving school, we take a track, get an instructor, and he coaches us on the fly, giving us pointers, practice passing cars , etc. I can off hand think of a few people who would be great instructors but I'll wait until I figure a way of making it happen before talking more about it, unless some of you have some ideas on how to do it then lets' discuss it.

The next time you guys do something like this, if you could also mention how to find the room - like, did you just create a Lobby and set it to "Friends Only" or did you create the Lobby in BrewGuy's Community Group... Otherwise, it can be difficult and time consuming trying to locate the damn lobby. Personally, I always seem to have trouble...

I'm down for anything that might improve my driving in GT6, so whatever you try, I would love to be a part of it when I can. Again, I need lots of help when it comes to driving with equally skilled (or more skilled) drivers. The good thing about 'practicing' is, if someone messes up the person ahead can slow down to let them catch up and the practice continues.

We'll be sure to post details in here in future 👍 It is great to have a good practice with some Actual Intelligence

I couldn't agree more. 👍 It gives you a more real feel for the car and others around you.

When I was learning the Nordschleife in GT3, I had two options. Time trial and the reset button or using the section where they broke the lap into four parts and the reset button. I'd pound around endlessly and if I got it wrong, I'd reset until I felt I couldn't do it any better.
If time trailing is the aim of the game, especially on a track as long as the green hell, I say make the reset button your best friend.

If I was online, I'd be all for the driving school idea. Why not share the knowledge? Having said that, if I can help you guys in anyway, I'm more than happy to do so :)

I've got quite the relationship with that reset button. It got plenty of use on my license tests 👍 Not a big fan of using it for TTs though, I've always found it helps me more to just keep pounding round completing laps and building a rhythm. It might take a while longer, but I think it helps more in the end. I'll usually only reset TT laps if I'm really having a bad time of it and need to refocus
The full lap licence test were my nightmare, every time you make a mistake. Fail, try again :banghead:
I cheated on a couple by buying the car and running a lot of laps in free run then going back :D

I knew the first one a long ago and it's great, but I can't get the second one...
The first one didn't catch me either, I have the same lamp in my lounge  But my walls have a better tan :D

Without a doubt, the licence test that helped me build an expensive relationship with my therapist, was the Mercedes test where you sat on the start line for around 100 seconds with the damn thing auto revving and then had to chase the rabbits. Don't touch any though or it's FAIL & another 100 second penalty :irked: :ouch:  🤬 :banghead::banghead::banghead:
Just recalling that makes me need another drink.

 Any licence test with rabbits is a bit of a pest. They might as well just arrange cones around in every corner and make you drive perfectly between them  Come to think of it, they did that on one of the old MotoGP games and it turned out quite well. The even left you enough room to back it into the corner then narrowed down the gap towards the apex. Actually works quite well :) And you wouldn't damage PD's beautifully recreated Yaris that way

Took the Merc for a spin around the Nurburgring first lap got a 8:43.538 next lap broke the 8:43 barrier with a 8:42.916. There's a little but bit of time left in there but squeezing it out is going to be difficult

Did some drifting while I was there and got 5554 in the drift trial not quite as good as the C1 but not far off

Outstanding  What a time! Looks like we're going to have a change at the top of the leaderboard :) Very well done. Nice drift score too 👍 I had a quick couple of attempts with the 300SL too. Nowhere near that though.

So does this mean @Gyro1780 is going back to the Ring for more then?

@Thorin Cain , sorry for the delay, I was waiting for your update :D, your new record has been immortalized in the Grand Tour Scoreboard. Nice going man that was quite of chuck of time you skimmed off 👍.

@RMan72 , I new this was coming in at sometime , hail to the leader , for now :mischievous:. Nice going, you really must be close to the limit on all the sectors.

I've also added your trophy to the SL300 room, pretty good score .

Thank you :) And I'm not last anymore  I did run another three this morning/yesterday morning now, but my head wasn't in it, so no sub 9min lap just yet :(

Hey BG what track was it?
Probably at the High Speed Ring doing the Beginner's level Non-Racing Car Challenge.
I took the C1 and 300SL there both came away with a win.
Used them in the Intermediate Level Non-Racing Car Challenge at Silverstone but could only manage 2nd with the C1 and 4th with the 300SL. Will revisit to see if they can get the gold.

I did the same thing, won the Beginner but came in 5th for the intermediate, I used CM on both with no aids, could have used a little help on the second race .
