I'll have to spend a while setting the thing up and practising with it - thought I was happy with it last time but couldn't get the pace from it. Will try that same line-up - the TT-R seems easier to keep pace with. Certainly from a tyre-wear perspective the GSX/R is the only way forward - remember that thing turning several laps before it even had properly green tyres.

I will crack this one!!:dopey:

There were two objectives in the test phase for the GSX-R/4:
a) Consistency
b) Kerb Riding

a) was solved by reducing a lot of the oversteer, and making the car stable into corners. Finally solved the problem I had of the back-end snapping out into the first corner - no downforce at all!! I adjusted the diff accordingly to give a nice, stable set-up with a bit of lift-off oversteer to aid turn-in and keep things interesting.

b) was sorted in part by dropping the bound right down, and keeping the spring rates fairly low without comprimising grip. It still bounces off the tall kerbs, but not as badly as before.

Took it to the race, Line-up #3 I believe (Abt TT-R in there somewhere, along with a Takata NSX-R). Had a run for the first 15laps....

... :dopey: 14secs up before the TT heads in the pits; tyres starting to go orange so 20 laps stints/3 pit stops not possible, but the performance is more than adequate for 4 stops to be feasible. So when I have 2 and a bit hours I'll be bagging myself 200 pts at last.

Settings:
-R1 tyres
-Stage 2 Turbo, Race Exhaust, Chip, all D/T upgrades, racing brakes, wing.

Suspension (F / R)
Spring Rates: 8.2 / 6.2
Ride Height: 77 / 85
Bound: 1 / 1
Rebound: 5 / 5
Camber: 2.0 / 1.3
Toe: -1 / 0
Stabilisers: 4 / 3

Gears: Auto 9, Final: 5.000. 6th stretched to allow for drafting.

Driving aids: 0/0/3 (for tyre wear - although seems irrelevant now!)

LSD: Initial 9 Accn 21 Dccn 36

Downforce: 17 / 25

Ballast: 2 @ 10 (makes no difference! Vestige from a previous race I suspect)

Bring on tomorrow...

S2000 Race Car with Stage 3 NA, I think I had to lower the downforce and maybe add weight.
Lineup:
RX7
RX8
Calibra
NSX
NSX
pretty easy win - pit every 12 laps (same as RX8)

Won the Grand Valley 300km for 200pts with the GSX-R/4 with settings as above, except downforce 20/28.

Against Line-Up #3:
1. Abt Audi TT-R
2. Mercedes CLK Touring Car
3. Nissan XANAVI HIROTO GT-R
4. Honda TAKATA DOME NSX JGTC
5. Toyota Esso Ultraflow Supra JGTC

Pitted laps 16, 34 (missed it lap 33) and 50. MoV of over 1.5laps. Best lap of 1.52.xxx.

Made a couple of 200 A-spec point endurance reports for my tidying up in the endurance hall! :D

The stock ride I mentioned back in post #66 for Nurburgring 4hrs is here.

200 A-spec New York Streets 200 miles. (Stock Honda NSX-R Concept '01)

New York Streets 200 miles
Honda NSX-R Concept '01 (Oil changed, S1 tyres) / MR / 300HP / 1270kg / 4.2kg/HP / 200 A-spec points!

vs. this lineup.

2nd Lotus Motor Sport Elise '99
3rd Dodge Viper GTS '99
4th Callaway C12 '03
5th Mercedes SL 65 AMG (R230) '04

@ RenesisEvo & Smallhorses

Congrats with these guys. Always a good feeling to win a 200 pointer. 👍

I've got 7 hours to go to finish Sarthe II. I must say Im glad there are only three 24 hour races in GT4. Personally I wouldnt bother with them except for the points gained.
I get much more pleasure out of winning the mini race at NY.

Race report now available: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=89985

Next up is Nurb 24 hours, if I can find a race for 200 points that I can actually win. Its proving difficult but fortunately Ive got help. ;)

Edit: went back to Licence S15 (bentley & Sarthe I) managed to improve to Silver !
Tried IA16 (Nissan and Sarthe II) but alas still on Silver, the wheelspin gets me every time.

Toyota Superautobacs Apex MR-S
Nissan C -West Razo Silvia
AMG Mercedes 190 E Evo11 Touring Car

A good 200 points this one.
A special thanks to AMG for all his help with this race. Good luck with yours.

why isn't the 1000 miles in here thats an enduro 4 long lap races

i need help on that my little S500 can't cut it

The 1000 miles is part of the European events. It's not a part of the Endurance races as you know. For the answer to that question please contact PD. None of us in GTP know why PD did things the way they are.

This 200 A spec subforum is highly structured and all participants here would really appreciate it if you could post your question in the right thread instead of posting at random.
The same goes for your other post, the one where you are not willing to spend 320.000 credits on a car.
It really doesn't add value to the discussion going on in these threads and I would therefore appreciate it if you could refrain from making such comments.

To answer your question in general
The races involving pre 1970ties cars are pretty daunting and frustrating. Lineups vary with the car you choose and if you're after 200 points you are going to have a tough time finding the right lineup. Your skill level also comes in to play. If you don't have a high enough level you will need some more practice (and so do I :) ).
You'll find us a pretty helpful bunch but that very much depends on the attitude you portray ;)

Saying your "S500 doesn't cut it" gives us very little or nothing to go on. The question lacks detail. There are not many people that have managed these races for 200 points. Those that have have gone through numerous lineups and used a fair number of cars and built up an impressive set of skills to win those races.

Please check out the other pre 70ties races to get a flavour of what might work for you. And if you're serious about winning for 200 points then spend the 320.000 credits too. It is very easy to make money in this game, you'll have 300K in no time.

Another source of information found in this subforum is this particular thread. https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=70995. With some careful thought and some blood sweat and tears it may just give you the edge or answer to you question as to why the S500 doesn't cut it.

If you happen to find a 'magic' lineup that allowed you to get 200 points then please share that information with us, as detailed as possible.

In the mean time happy 200 point hunting :)

On Tokyo R236 300 KM

Car used
Amuse S2000 R1
419hp @ 8300 rpm
271.5 ft.lb @ 6000 rpm

Mods
RC Exaust / RC brakes + controller / Port / Balancing / Chip / FC Tranny set 12 / TR Clutch / RC Flywheel / Carbon Shaft / Turbo Stage 3 / R1 Tires / Refreshed stiffness

Lineup
Mazda RX-7 LM race car / Takata Dome NSX / Cerumo Toyota Supra / Opel Astra Touring Car / Penzoil Nismo GT-R / Amuse S2000 R1 (me)

First Lineup = 200 PTS

Not sure it's Astra touring... Anyway. Easy race, won by +35.xxx s... Third was one lap behind.
3 pit stops : Lap 15/30/45
Ran low on fuel all the time. First pit fuel up to 50... Same second and third... 13 gas units left when pitting in.
Drove most lap in high 1'39's or low 1'40's

Grand Valley 300 km
Audi S4, N2 ,ballast

I'd like to know the origin of this claim - because, as it's written, it's a load of badger's nadgers.

An Audi S4. Wearing N2 road tyres. With additional ballast. Against a field of GT500, DTM and LM cars.

An Audi A4 Touring Car with N2s I can maybe, maybe, see.

I'd also like to stick my choices down for this one:
Honda S2000 LM, standard (R1s) - 200 points
Toyota WedsSport Celica, standard (R1s) - 200 points

Took me a little while to find it again but here it is https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showpost.php?p=1646593&postcount=260

I have no intention of verifying the claims laid in the posts. I take them at good faith. If the claim is really ludicrous I'm happy to remove an entry.
Yours will be added.

I suspect that it's in error - if it really IS the claim that a 260hp, 1400kg road car with ballast running on Economy tyres can beat a field of 300-400hp, 1000kg race cars running on race tyres, then it's ludicrous beyond ludicrousossitynessism.

I suspect it should be an Audi A4 Touring Car.

Hi all, first post here, but have been reading tons of very useful info for quite some time 👍

I got into the GT series ages ago, but only just got a PS2 for myself a few weeks back.

I completed the Ring 4 Hour last night and achieved 200 points using a Lotus Elise 111R, I had S1's and 95Kg's of ballast. Racing Susp, Drive train etc, no other mods. I was against;

Chev Corvette GS (C4) 96
Subaru Imprezza Sed WRX Sti sp.C 04
Fiat Coupe Turbo Plus 00
Honda NSX Type S 01
BMW M Coupe 98

The biggest challenger was the NSX of course. I started on the S1's and did a 5 lap stint and then 4 lap stints on S2's after that This combo yeilded a 7.59.3xx lap on about lap 19. I somehow buggered my maths and the race went for 30 laps (after telling myself that it would be 29 for the whole race :dunce: ) so I had to do 5 laps on my S2's at the end  They were knackered and I lost about 10 seconds just taking it easy.

I won by 20 something seconds, which makes it sound earier than it was. I was a constant see-saw battle the whole race with the NSX and myself trading time either way on every sector of every lap. I had a little help twice with the Honda losing 13 and then 6 seconds on two of his last laps on a set of tires, but he pulled 3 seconds a lap off me on the straight every lap. Then on his out lap on his last set (lap 26) He was slower than usual and I took about 10 seconds off him. I think its easy for me to say now, but I was hoping that onto the straight on the last lap my lead would be about 4 sec's, not quite enough for him to pass me, but a really close win. I am happy that I did have a bigger gap, because the S2's after 5 laps were really bad. (bright orange on the rear)

I didn't start GT4 with the aim of maxing A-Spec points, but I am really happy that the 2 Enduro's I have done have both been 200. (New York 200 Mile race in a NSX Concept)

Will post how I go in my next enduro endeavour, probably the Suzi 1000 or the El Cap 200 miler.

cheers all

Charlie

Hi all, just finished the El Capitan 200 Miles race for 200 A-spec points.

I drove my Honda NSX-R Concept '01 which gave me 200 points at the New York 200 mile race as well. As a result my Honda has been retired to the back to my garage with my Lotus Elise 111R in the "sweet cars which have done their job very well dept" :)

I was against;
Lotus Motor Sport Elise '99 - 1 lap
Shelby Series 1 Super Charged '03 - 2 laps
TVR T350C '03 - 2 laps
TVR Cerbera Speed Six '97 - 2 or 3 laps
Mercedes SL 65 AMG (R230) '04 - 4 or 5 laps

Was a lot more boring than I thought, the Lotus gave me a good run untill the first set of stops, but then I steadily pulled away from him. I pitted on laps 12, 25, 40, 54 and had a best time of 1.53.489

I did a 15 lap stint to see how bad my tyres got, they were a pretty bad for the last lap, but the lap before i was only 1 second off my best laptime.

I fitted;

Racing Exhaust
Chip which gave me 316HP
Brakes, gearsbox, etc etc
S1 tyres
Set gears to Auto 11

I set the gears and started the race and thought, sweet I got the gearing for the straight spot on, then on lap 3 realised that I had 6 gears :dunce:

Anyway, didn't need it and the gearing was really good for the entire lap.

3 enduros down for 600 points, am trying to decide what to do next :)

cheers

To relieve the boredom - 2 mini games : "Cone Football" played down the Mulsanne Straight and " Count the Race Marshalls". Both much harder than you think!!!!

Anyway, that's another 200 points and all 24hour races completed.

Many thanks to AMG for his help and communications during this race. I'm sure you won't be far behind 👍 👍
