Thanks to AMG from whom I was able to see what needed to be done in order to win and who's advice was invaluable. Extremely grateful to you.👍 👍 👍
Thanks to Vash for the excellent set up 👍 👍 👍

Strategy : Pit stop on lap 50. As much wall riding and drafting of other cars as possible in order to save tyres and fuel.

Way to go on the SS150 end. nige. I'm currently running Sarthe I AGAIN, with the Chaparral 2J. I love this car. This race is actually a bit of a challenge. Right now, I'm at like almost 5 hours I think. I'll be updating from time to time. Good luck to all.

bttlefed, I'm running Sarthe I also, about 4 hours into the race. I guess you are not making a race report of it but I'm curious what kind of laptimes you are pulling with the chap 2J. I thought about using the chaparrals myself but I never got around testing them on the track. Good luck with your race. 👍

.....the chap 2J. I thought about using the chaparrals myself but I never got around testing them on the track.

The 2J is a wonderful car for 200 point races. I had difficulties with it at Sarthe due to the AI pushing me off track around Porsche bends. Mostly because I was not well versed in driving 'LMP type' cars. So definitely keep this one in mind if you still need to do GTWC.

Alas I've never recorded laptimes.

AMG.

Vash, so far my best lap time with this stud car was a 3:21.525, which came at lap 89. This is on R2's front and rear, no oil change, ASM front and rear at 0, TCS at 0, shock bound @ 6 front and rear, shock rebound @ 10 front and rear, trans. auto @ 19, and limited slip decel. @ 60. I am now 8 1/2 hours into it. Only 1 3/4 laps ahead of the 2nd place Sauber. Which is what I pretty much wanted. I wanted a car that will win, but not totally destroy the others. My lap times are droppin like a sack o' taters, due to the rigidity of this car. It is ALOT harder to control now than what it was at the beginning. I think my best lap since the lap 100 mark, which is where I noticed the rigidity dwindling away, was probably a 3:24.xxx, maybe a high 3:23.xxx. But it's still a fun, challenging race. Most of the challenge is just keeping this beast on the track. That's about all I have for now. Good luck to you Vash, on your Sarthe endurance. Good luck to all.

I forgot to mention, that I'm consistently running 3:25's to 3:26's even with the crap handling now.

Whoa, nice times with the chap 2J. Yeah, rigidity is a troublemaker for sure later on in the race. I'm currently 12 hours in and also fighting to keep the car on the track. I really should have picked a weaker lineup. The nissan R89C is driving me nuts as I can't pull any gap to him. :nervous:

Oh, ok. Cool Vash, good luck.

I'm now at the half-way mark. Coming out of the pits, 208th lap, 12 hours, and 10 minutes. The handling on this car is almost non-existent now. I can't run even close to a clean lap now. The 2nd place Sauber, is about 50 seconds from getting lapped a 2nd time, which he will be pitting in about 3 more laps. I'll probably never lap him again. Anyways, quick update, I'ma get back to it. Aiming for the 16 hour mark today. Good luck ya'll.

2 hours and 45 minutes to go. Looks like I might actually finish this race for once.

I pitted every 9 laps. Ran up 3,438.1 miles on the race. Ran 406 laps, with a total time of 24 hours, 1 minute, 24 seconds .677. Fastest lap was a 3:21.525, which came at lap 89. The Sauber C 9 finished 2nd, 1 1/3 laps down. The R92CP finished 3rd, 3 1/3 laps behind. The 787B came in 4th, 4 1/4 laps down. The R89C came in 5 1/2 laps down, in 5th place. And 6th place, the GT-ONE, finished 11 1/3 laps behind. This was really the race I was looking for. It was a challenge just keeping this car on the track, mainly when the handling went to hell in a handbasket, due to the rigidity. I did spend a lot of time in the sand and grass. At about the 15 hour mark, I started slowing down a little bit through several corners, rather than spend the time offroading. I think I was trying to drive too hard. Well, my lap times started improving a lot, consistently running high 3:23's and 3:24's. Not much else to share about it that I can think of. Other than, I finally finished it!!! This was seriously like the 9th or so attempt at this race. The other attempts being with the used 787B, which I think I'll go ahead and use for Sarthe II. Which brings me to this...

My total A-Spec points now, 111,607. I still have to do Sarthe II for 200, and snag 2 more points for each of the 3 races for the Copen Challenge, totalling 206 more points. That's about all I have for now. Good luck to ya'll.

Nice going there. 👍
Sarthe II is easy for 200. Copen is probably another matter.
So .....will you be the next one to max out GT4. It sure looks like it.:)

Sarthe 24h I - 200pts. Race

Car: BMW McLaren F1 GTR

Setup: new car, new oil, R3/R2 tyres

lineup:

1st Toyota GT-ONE Race Car - pits every 8 laps
2nd Nissan R390 GT1 Race Car - pits every 8 laps
3rd Nissan R89C Race Car - pits every 7 laps
4th BMW V12 LMR Race Car - pits every 8 laps
5th Bentley Speed 8 Race Car - pits every 9 laps
6th BMW McLaren F1 GTR(me) - pits every 6 laps

More info can be found from my race report.

One piece of advice: when the rigidity starts to wear down after 8 hours or so try softer tyres. I tried R1's and R2's earlier and I had lots of trouble keeping the car on the track but when I switched to R3's on front the car stabilised much more.

bttlefed, sounded like a good race. 👍

Big Congrats to both of you guys for the Sarthe wins! I'm still plodding along through the special conditions hall working my way toward 25%. I don't expect I'll ever have the drive for the 24 hours, but I am looking forward to the "short" enduros. Well, not so much speedway 150 and roadster, but reading all the info here at least makes it seem much more doable.

El Capitan 200 Miles - 200pts. Race

Car: Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI RS T.M.E. '00

Setup: Stock, new oil, S1's

lineup:

Aston Martin V8 Vantage - pits every 11 laps
Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport - pits every 13 laps
Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 - pits every 12 laps
Dodge Viper GTS - pits every 13 laps
TVR T350C - pits every 12 laps
Mitsubishi Lancer(me) - pits every 6-7 laps

Unfortunately the car eats the front tyres after 6-7 laps but the extra pitstops didn't matter. The lineup was average at best and I won the race by a 40 second margin before the TVR. Fastest lap was 1'56'469

9 more enduros to go...

Fastest lap was 1'56'469

This and others start to make me realize just what a great tool the RUF 3400S is on this track. Consistent fastest-laps of 1'51, and eats the rears first... Either it's quick, or I'm good enough to start shooting at the more serious events.

The RUF may be quick but if you're shooting for 200 points it might be an overkill car for the lineup mentioned just above your post.:sly:

I dont know for sure though as I haven't tried it out.

Sure you do and with the info posted on SS150 it should now be relatively easy to win for 200. I managed 0.9s mov and Nige managed a 10 sec mov. Get a good long draft for 37-39 laps and try to stick with it. If you're lucky you'll get similar drafts after you pit and this race actually becomes relatively easy.

The more you get in to A-spec the more of a 'A spec nutter' you become like the rest of us and you will find yourself doing 3x24h too!

Endurance races: Grand Valley 300km - 200pts. Race

Car: ASL Arta Garaiya (JGTC)

Lineup:
Honda Loctite Mugen NSX (JGTC) - pits every 12 laps
Nissan Pennzoil Zexel GT-R (JGTC) - pits every 14 laps
Toyota au Cerumo Supra (JGTC) - pits every 14 laps
Audi A4 Touring Car - pits every 14 laps
Opel Astra Touring Car - pits every 15 laps
ASL Arta Garaiya (JGTC) - pits every 15 laps

Setup:
New car, new oil, R1's and max df

Easy race, took the lead on first lap and I pulled away steadily after that. Lap 15, gap 6 secs. Lap 30, gap 18 secs. On lap 43 I ran out fuel in the middle of the lap and when I finally reached the pits my laptime was a shocking 3'05. :ouch: I must have taken too little fuel during the stop on lap 30 and didn't have enough for 15 laps as I planned.

After the pitstop I had dropped to 3rd place with the Skyline +1 secs and the Supra +10 secs ahead. I didn't panic though, as I knew that they would pit once more on lap 56 and thats when I regained 1st place again. On lap 60 I won the race by 20 seconds before the Supra. I would have most likely won the race with one lap difference to the AI field without the fuel mistake during the race.:indiff: The Skyline was on 3rd place most of the time but for some reason he ran out fuel on last lap and dropped to 6th. That was really weird because he had the same pit schedule with the Supra who didn't have any fuel shortage problems...

Fastest laptime 1'54.811 achieved on lap 34. Laptimes were very consistent 1'55-1'56's through the race. What a great car as it provides a very stable ride and is capable of beating the GT500 class cars. I totally recommend trying the ASL Garaiya out. 👍

Thanks ya'll. I'm gonna work on the 6 missing points from the Copen Challenge next. I'm tryin to be the next one AMG. Thanks. Good luck to you sir on what you got left. 👍

Congrats on the Sarthe I, El Capitan, and Grand Valley wins Vash. And thanks, it was a decent race. Thanks. And good luck on your remaining races. 👍

And thanks to nualum. Good luck on your quest. 👍

Endurance races: Suzuka 1000km - 200pts. Race

Car: RE Amemiya Asparadrink (JGTC)

Lineup:
Abt Audi TT-R Touring Car - pits every 14 laps
Mercedes-Benz CLK Touring Car - pits every 13-14 laps
Nissan Xanavi Hiroto GT-R (JGTC) - pits every 14 laps
Honda Takata Dome NSX (JGTC) - pits every 13 laps
Toyota Esso Ultraflo Supra (JGTC) - pits every 14 laps
RE Amemiya Asparadrink RX7 (JGTC) - pits every 9-10 laps

Setup: 319hp, R2's and max df

No problems on this one, on lap 170 I lapped the Audi second time when he came out of pits. Laps were around 2'03-2'05, fastest was 2'02.622. The car understeered quite alot and with a better suspension setup I could have maybe pushed beyond 2'01... The front tyres also wore down pretty fast compared to rears forcing me to pit in too often. 👎

Results:
1st RE Amemiya Asparadrink RX7 (JGTC), racetime 6:07'04.597
2nd Abt Audi TT-R Touring Car +2 laps
3rd Toyota Esso Ultraflo Supra (JGTC) +2laps
4th Nissan Xanavi Hiroto GT-R (JGTC) +2 laps
5th Mercedes-Benz CLK Touring Car +3 laps
6th Honda Takata Dome NSX (JGTC) + 4 laps

Tokyo 300km - 200pts. Race

Car: ASL Arta Garaiya (JGTC)

Lineup:
Opel Calibra Touring Car - pitted 23, 46
Toyota au Cerumo Supra - pitted 26, 52
Honda Takata Dome NSX - pitted 26, 52
Nissan Xanavi Nismo GT-R - pitted 28, 56
2000 Ford Falcon XR8 - pitted 20, 41
ASL Arta Garaiya (JGTC) - pitted 21, 31, 40, 50

Setup: new oil, R1's, downforce 30/45

Race:
As the race started I once again found out that the R1's proved to be too slow and I couldn't keep up with the leaders. Lap 21, I was on 3rd place and I pitted in. I changed to R3/R2 tires and when I came out I dropped to 5th place with only the slow Calibra behind me. :nervous: Lap 30, by now all of the AI drivers had pitted in and I took the 1st place with a 7 second lead over the 2nd place Nissan. A lap later though, I had to pit in and the Nissan took the 1st place back. Lap 33, I was 16 secs behind the leader but because of the grippier tires I managed to keep up.

Lap 51, thanks to my short pit schedule I was 46 seconds behind the Nissan. Despite the large gap and only 9 laps to go I knew the Nissan would pit in once more (thanks to the AI pit strategy guide). 👍 Lap 56, the Nissan pitted in and I managed to take the lead and with only 4 laps to go I cruised to victory. When I crossed the finish line the gap had increased to +20 secs because of the AI's crappy driving on cold tyres.

Laptimes were between 1'38- 1'40 and best lap recorded was 1'38.518.

Results:
1st ASL Arta Garaiya, racetime 1:43'53.808, 60 laps completed
2nd Nissan Xanavi Nismo GT-R, +20 secs behind
3rd 2000 Ford Falcon XR8, +1 min
4th Toyota au Cerumo Supra, +1 min
5th Honda Takata Dome NSX, +1 min
6th Opel Calibra Touring Car, +3 laps

Tsubuka 9hr - 200pts. Race

Car: Opel Speedster

Lineup:
Toyota Supra RZ - pits every 28-29 laps
BMW 330i - pits every 25 laps
Nissan 350Z (Z33) - pits every 30-33 laps
Audi A3 3.2 Quattro - pits every 22-23 laps
Nissan Skyline GT-R Vspec II (R34) - pits every 24-26 laps
Opel Speedster - pits every 25-30 laps

Setup: S2 tires, new oil

Race:
Lap 50, I followed a 25 laps pit schedule at this point and pitted in from 1st place with a 34 second lead over the 2nd place Supra RZ. My main rival, the Nissan 350Z got held up behind the Supra for 50 laps and thats why I managed to increase the gap so much. The first hour ended on lap 55 and my lead had diminished to only 9 seconds over the 350Z (he got past the Supra).

Lap 245, 4:30 hours to the race and my lead over the Nissan was 35 seconds. On the 7th hour (lap 380) I was one minute ahead and a while after I lapped the 2nd place Nissan for the first time.

Laps were under 1'05's with max hp (fastest 1'04.612) and later in the race consistant 1'05-1'06's. The Nissan was slightly faster than me but when he was on cold tyres I was much faster. The 350Z also had major troubles overtaking the slower cars thus slowing him down.

Final standings:
1st Opel Speedster, racetime 9:00'59.145 and 488 laps completed
2nd Nissan 350Z (Z33), +1 lap (almost lapped him twice)
3rd Toyota Supra RZ +5 laps (he blocked the 350Z for many laps  and I pulled away)
4th Nissan Skyline GT-R Vspec II (R34) +10 laps
5th Audi A3 3.2 Quattro +13 laps
6th BMW 330i +15 laps

Only 5 more enduros to go now (Laguna Seca, Motegi 8h, New York, Fuji and Nurburgring 24h). 👍

All of those are fairly easy! Just boringly long, well at least 2 of them.
You wont have any troubles then .... getting to max :)

AMG.

Yeah, they might be boring races but the last 1000 points drives me on. :P

Congratulations - its been a while since anyone got max a-spec points - imo this is the pinacle of GT4 achievement

Going for stock wins in these last events should make them a bit more interesting (I was enjoying a stock run in the Motegi enduro until my engine blew up (read power failure)).

Racing in stock cars make the endurances more interesting as you said. I've been doing it for a while now and today I tried the Laguna Seca enduro. I chose a stock Corvette Z06 (C5) with R1 tires and boasted 379hp. I went against the first lineup and it was a tough one. :nervous:

Pontiac GTO 5.7 Coupe - pits every 15-16 laps
Chevrolet Camaro SS - pits every 16-17 laps
Saleen S7 - pits every 22 laps
Ford GT - pits every 12-13 laps
Shelby Series 1 - pits every 17-18 laps
Corvette Z06 (C5) - pits every 18 laps

The Saleen S7 was my main opponent because of his 22 lap stints and after 2 hours and 21 minutes later the race was over. The Saleen finished 2:21'30.549 and I was only 6 seconds behind.:banghead: 🤬 I would have won the race if it wasn't for the one spin in the corkscrew (thanks to the Ford GT who rammed my car when I was braking) It was a very fun race despite my 2nd place finish and the Shelby and the Ford GT were close by also. I must try this race again today and then I will grab the win!

Edit: Ok, I tried the same race again and managed to win 200 A-spec points this time. More details can be found from my race report so check it out! :sly:

Well after reading Vash666 post in the stock car race topic, I think that you guys don't have a lap time database for the endurance here, right.

So this may be useful to do some strategies for the endurance (it just don't have a good info for the Roadster endurance, since the guy though it was all the same for all the cars).

And that guy did it using the NTSC-NA version of the game.

I mentioned that because after seeing his FAQ and doing the Super Speedway for 200pts I noticed 1 thing (and you may notice if you play pal version), the AI in Pal version pit a bit sooner then in NA for some reason (but isn't much more faster).

Sorry if this isn't new info.

And here the link:
