Hi,

But @Scaff - even with the nice words, this is basically already a kind of flaming towards me - by rendering my opinion to be worthless. ;) I don't think it's intended to be like that - but you can understand it like that.

My opinion is based on my professional experience in managing customer complaints and statistics. The number of negative views is even small compared to all other critics, isn't it? So I don't expect anyone putting big efforts in it. Specially when taking into account - this feature is I'm since GT4 and the resulting "damage" is exceptional small.

And so do I priorize how much efforts I put into things I notice and find not well done. Saves breath for more important stuff and gives you a better mood in general ,) That were my point comes from. You need impact and you get impact by numbers or weight.

Good night :)
None of which has anything to do with people discussing it, or are we only supposed to discuss it if PD might change it?

His point is that whether Sony/PD do anything about this doesn't mean we can't discuss it. We discuss plenty of things that have little chance of actually affecting the game, but we do it because this is a forum and that's what it's made for. If you don't care for the conversation and think it's pointless, nobody is forcing you to join in.

I don't think anyone is flaming you. Some people are being quite robust in the way they disagree with you - and with me, because we have similar views on this. That's a part of the rough and tumble of the internet. Regrettably, the arguments can sometimes tend towards "I am right/ you are wrong" rather than "I don't agree with you".

But I've long since given up worrying about folk trying to win subjective arguments by using pseudo objective "evidence". That's not a battle that I know how to win.

Where I would disagree with you is that I don't think we can say that people should stop talking about something. We might think that it's pointless to talk about something we can't change, but that's not our call.

As you say. save breath for more important stuff.

However, I do understand those that are annoyed at permanently losing power and don’t see a good reason why we can’t at least restore our cars to peak performace other than PD’s bizzaro logic that only makes sense to them, which can be said about a lot of things in GT7.
It's this that gets me. The feature to fully replace your engine and chassis already exists on certain cars, makes very little sense why PD won't enable it for all cars so those who want to restore the lost performance have the option to do so and those who want the game to make their lives harder can just not do it.
Engine wearing "alone" is not fun, I'm ok with that. But the satisfaction of a well maintained car, that's what the game tries to replicate. How do we keep our cars in good condition ? By adding wear.
But the wear is permanent? No amount of maintenance will keep your car in good condition. The only way to do that is to not drive it.

Wouldn't it spark more joy to be able to fully refurbish your car back to new condition as opposed to dumping it and buying a new one?

Maybe, maybe not. It's a question of one person's fun vs another person's realism.

Sure you could use a favourite car intensively and then dump it when the engine starts to wear out. That's one strategy. It's an all or nothing strategy, but you could go down that route.

Or you could use a favourite car sparingly and also spend some time trying out other cars. I would argue that's more like real life and - for me - more fun.

The performance loss doesn't reset itself over time so, by the time you're done wearing out other cars, you're still going to come back to a worn out favourite.

I suppose with the game itself having an expiration date, you're unlikely to reach the point where all your cars are permanently worn before the servers are shut down and nothing's accessible.

It’s just a dumb feature that really has no point and will scare some people off on using expensive cars.

Not like it matters as we aren’t going to be playing our 10 year old GT7 save files down the road anyways when the game is discontinued and won’t work offline.
