How many copies will GT Sport sell?

Just to add some context GT5 sold 600K (by end of year) in its UK launch window and over 5m worldwide in similar time period.

My prediction stands GT Sport will sell over 6m.......but under 10m ( I know, wide margin of error!). If I had to put a final figure I'd say around 7.5m-8m. IMO it will only hit those totals after PS5 launches and PS4 is going for £99-£150 with bundled games.

Incredible sales in the Uk seem to have no bearing on Gtsport worldwide given its stinking up the sales charts in US or Japan. Any sort of correlation between past sales in Uk and the worlds seem illogical to be made from Gtsport sales in Uk and thus extrapolated to world GTsport sales.

That's not context, it's hopeful expectation contrary to already known facts.

For some other context. UK is big on GT as GT5 sold 600k in 5 weeks. Took Germany 7 months to reach 500k with a bigger population despite the myths you read. German video games market has grown since mind so we'll see what sales award it gets soon. GT Sport re-entered 4th in week 47 French top 5, no numbers but it's probably doing relatively well in Europe with UK leading the charge.

US hasn't been the major market but not getting the top 10 and getting beat by Forza in revenue is perhaps a new low but both have seen better days it seems. Sales were apparently very close to each other, GTS a bit higher but F7 a bit more revenue. Usually both GT and FM7 chart a bit higher.

GT Sport #4 on EU PSN for the month of November. Traditionally the biggest month for software with Christmas and Black Friday sales.

https://blog.eu.playstation.com/201...v-skyrim-vr-top-the-november-ps-store-charts/

PS4 also sold through over 70.6m and PSVR over 2m.

That's why i call Gtsport such a flop. With number like this it should be smashing GT5s sales, such an awesome opportunity blown by the ineptitude and incompetence of PD and Kaz.

If GTS is a flop, than so is pretty much any racing game that has came out in the past decade, considering sales.

Different budgets different brands different expectations. Halo does not have to sale like COD to be a massive success, but Cod selling like Halo would be armageddon for Activision.

This is Gran Turismo, on the fastest selling Playstation ever. Selling near the worst ever.

True. So what was Gran Turismo's budget again?

Oh wow:lol: PD have hardly blown their opportunity man, the game is doing very well. Just because it's not smashing GT5's numbers doesn't mean it's a bad game. Also, weren't you told off for using the word "flop"? GT Sport is not a commercial flop at all... Are you listening to yourself right now?

Don't know, figured you had that information since you're going around posting about it.

Kaz has said GT5 cost 60m.

150 i've seen posted on here.
Average pay - https://www.geek.com/games/the-average-salary-at-square-enix-japan-is-273000-1500147/ a bit old whatever.
4 years dev. (still working on it) but let's stick to 4 years.

69.4 million - without inflation factored for pay. Quite in line with Kaz has saying 60m for GT5, but that was near ten years ago. Inflation and dollar exchanges can really skew things. Marketing could easily double that. Very often it's 1-1 but some games like Cod go nuts and its 2-1 3-1 marketing to development costs.

What don't you get ? The user base Gtsport is selling on now is nearing DOUBLE of what GT5 launched on. You say it's doing very well, selling like GT6 is called doing very well now ? really

#8 on the individual chart though which is more impressive. Also how come Forza 7 never got flack for its price cut?

I never saw it for as low as GTsport, maybe that's why.

It never received as big a reduction nor as fast, even now for the base version F7 costs 20% more on amazon Uk.

GTs's cut just reeked of desperation and launch failure. But it did do great at 1/3rd the price, so there's that.

Times are changing, most of the younger generation does not have or show the love for motorsports so it is not surprising across the board a racing games sales are not as strong as they were in past decades.

Here in the U.S 20 years ago the rage was Skateboards and skate parks everywhere. But two decades later many skateparks have closed and they still make and sell skateboards but I am sure the numbers are down drastically from 2 decades ago.

Times change and you cannot necessarily judge current success and failure based off of what it was 10 -15 years ago. In today's marketplace Sony may well be satisfied with GTS sales figures. I have no idea and neither do you actually and all that matters is whether Sony is satisfied in the end.

GT Sport definitely isn't a flop, but it definitely hasn't been commercially successful either. Only time will tell when worldwide sales figures are finally released by Polyphony. I expect GT Sport to outsell GT6 (5.2 million) but not match the 10 million+ of the previous games.

I also wonder how much revenue GT Sport will bring in. It was disconcerting reading that Forza 7's revenues were higher than GT Sport's even though GT Sport outsold Forza 7 thus far. At the end of the day, revenue and profit is what companies look at. GT Sport needs to bring in profit if Sony is to continue supporting the franchise. Again only time will tell, and I'm looking forward to seeing some real sales figures and revenue numbers when they gets released.

In the US Forza 7 had an early access premium bundle.

In the UK GT Sport's revenue was the third highest of all PS4 titles on the biggest sales week of the year, with sales of over 100K. To put that in perspective GT Sport sold more in that single week than FM7 has lifetime. As of today GT Sport is on course to sell over 400K in the UK before the end of the year. The pattern is repeated across Europe with GT Sport returning to the top 5 in the likes of Germany, France, Italy and Spain in recent weeks. Of course, in those countries FM7 sales are a fraction due to lack of market share for Xbox.

1st party software is used to add value and drive hardware sales. At this point it's obvious GT Sport is going to be a mainstay of Sony's promotions by the very nature of it being a unique, family friendly, title amongst it's line-up. With another 3-4yrs of PS4 sales (beyond PS5 launch), you're realistically looking at another 40m-50m more PS4 sales. It's not difficult to see why 1st part software racks up such large totals and sells well beyond the usual 3rd party offerings.

IF PD actively supports GT sport I can see it reaching 10 million sales by the time the PS5 is released. GT6 could have been GT5 spec 3. But polyphony wanted another 60$ .

Gtsport fails to crack top 20 in November PSn sales.

America mad there's no nascar in GT or what lol.

I think America is just over racing. Fernando Alonso came to the Indianapolis 500, yet attendance at the track and American TV numbers both nose dived. NASCAR use to have 43 car fields with many more then that number attempting to qualify every week. Now theres only like 38 cars showing up.

Racing peaked in the 90s. Right now leagues are managing the decline

I'd say 65% of GT's reduction in sales can be contributed to the past 2 games being mediocre, and 35% to loss of interest in autoracing.

Nah. Racing games, in general, are on a decline. I don't know why people deny this. We had MORE racing games in the ps2 /ps3 days and they sold fairly well. The younger generation really doesn't like cars. My brother couldn't be bothered. Kids these days are legitimately lazy and would rather wait for the bus or hail an uber. It still shocks me parents think their kids are smart for knowing how to TAP ICONS.
