I like trying to hang onto the Barbie cars in my F430.

Sensi, how's that 599 working out? Looked pretty quick...

Yeah its not to bad. Its not as fast as the California, Ive only done 2 laps in the California (Dutch Customs tune) and pulled a 2.05.9 on the second lap. My best with the 599 in free run is 2.06.6 with lots of laps.
Im using Holden's 599 setup that was designed for 729pp and r3's. I'm running it with r2/r1 combo and power set to min with weight dropped to get 650.
Ive had some really fun races, pity there seems to be more punters out since the update.
Has anybody else since the update suffered from the game freezing on the start line. Its happened to me 3 times and the first time it happened i had Zabeu sitting in front of me and he said his froze as well. Only way to get out of it is to quit the game.

i had the same earlyer tonight i was the host of that game i think it just froze and only way out was exit :S

well now i know, my driving style is crap, everyone i spoke to about the 512BB as the stickier tyres on the front, mine go on the rear:crazy:

Why are there still people racing under a GTP_tag running PP levels under the event limit. Unlike the last event, where some cars that were competitive couldn't be tuned to the PP limit, that issue isn't here. There is absolutely no reason for anyone with a GTP tag to be running under PP650. Whatever reason you use to justify doing so doesn't matter as it is plain and simple cheating.

I thought the "community" established a type of gentleman's agreement in the last online event about PP limits and the GTP tag? Not to mention how many people here were offended by a certain someone and their GTLM and their tactics (if you can call them that).

As for turn 1... yes it can be a mess but generally the cars that cause the mess will take themselves out of the race there or be slow enough drivers that they can be passed in a lap or two.

The RBE is so ridiculous. I just completed a race in the California, which I won by 13 seconds. My fastest lap was a 2:10, at least 4-5 seconds slower than the best ive done but most bizarre, it was done on the first lap, with a standing start. How can my fastest lap, be the very first one, even though I drove 5 clean, fast, error free laps & won by 13 seconds. Not only that, it was fastest by at least 2 seconds more than any other lap i did in that race. Grr

Oh and just a quick question, what gear & speeds are you getting through 130R using the cali? I use 5th and get about 210ish but i feel i might be going too slow into that corner. Cheers

What is also odd though I that I've seen more cars gapping the field by 10+ seconds after a few laps than I can remember. The way the RBE worked before to my eye was that the drivers that far behind a leader would eventually catch-up. That doesn't seem to happen anymore and a single car can break far from the field. Even running laptimes that are rather slow.

I first thought that maybe the same "boost" that cars behind the leader got apply to the leader now. I have noticed when being that far in the lead of a race that my car seems really iffy, especially in high speed braking. But then if that is true, it's not really a RBE anymore, just a silly "boost" that makes handling unpredictable for everyone. That seems rather silly to have.

5th/210kph sounds about the average I've noticed in that car, maybe 5-10kph faster if you hit the apex perfectly.

I don't get what your talking about, could you explain further?

Whats wrong with driving under the PP limit and how is that cheating? I often drive under the PP limit because I like driving standard cars, I try and keep out others way if the car is off pace.

and clearly the "community" didn't establish a gentlemans agreement as I (and I bet a large portion of GTPers) haven't heard anything about this.

You drive a car under the pp limit not for the grid advantage but because you prefer a more realistic setup. I'm talking about the people who are running pp limits 1 or 2 points under the limit to gain an unsporting advantage. Was I the only one who read the discussion in Sphinx's suzuka pp750 thread and the many complaints about certian GTLM drivers? Not to mention what I thought was a rule set in the GTP registry about running exactly at the event pp limit.

Sphinx, did I missunderstand this or take it out of context?

I'm sure I've read many discussions in this race community about drivers racing at the exact pp limit. There has been multiple discussions in the threads about racers using that advantage. I don't know a single respected driver that currently runs under event pp limits. Visit other GT forums and see how many feel on this subject.

Hi all,

I'm curious why nobody uses the Ferrari 599 for this event? I tried it out yesterday and in all the races I was in, no one was using it. I seem to get
better lap times with this compared to the F430 (haven't tried the others yet).

Is the 599 a plague that we should avoid?? ;) ;)

Thanks.

Well I keep clear from the 700PP+ races as I just don't enjoy them (too far from stock) so I missed any of that. Problem is Aussies tend to always be put down the back (euro usually hosts) so we always get a dissadvantage, I can understand official races everybody keeps the same PP but just random racing I don't see why it is a requirement. Though I don't use my GTP tag in unofficial racing anyway.

At the official GTP events you must drive at the specified PP-level (or maximum if the car does not meet the specified PP-requirement). For all other events you can do whatever you want. So unless PD decides to implement a minimum (or fixed) PP level, I'd say any PP-level is a go. :)

Personally, I'd rather start at the end of the grid, makes it easier to cut through turn 1 mayhem and end at the front of the grid. If you start in front you'll just get punted off.

I'm with you on the issue of running sportscars with sports tires. It's plain silly to put race tires on them. But the reality of OLR is that racers will use the stickiest tire they can, it's been like that since GT2 OLR. I was really happy to see PD launch the Suzuka PP600 S tire only races a few months back. I'm looking forward to their return. I have no issue with people running cars in events well under the PP limit due to taste, as long as they stay out of the way of the racing. I'f seen drifters doing it and various forums doing spec races of the same nature an moving over at the start. If you want to run a VW GTI at PP525 in a PP750 event, more power too you, just stay out of the way.

I just went back and looked through where I though I saw this stated, in the registry thread and found that thread has been gutted for the time being due to the spec III update. I did find the discussion(s) in the PP750 event thread, including the statement that the 02/none GTLM event must be run at PP750 and the discussion that followed slamming racers not running PP750, even non GTP racers. I also have found multiple posts slamming GTP members for not running at the event PP limit in multiple races threads going back over the past few months. That is why I refer to it as a (forum) "gentleman's agreement".

At the official GTP events you must drive at the specified PP-level (or maximum if the car does not meet the specified PP-requirement). For all other events you can do whatever you want. So unless PD decides to implement a minimum (or fixed) PP level, I'd say any PP-level is a go. :)

But... doesn't the GTP tag stand for "fair and clean" driving? People rant on and on here about being fair. How is gaining an unfair advantage from grid position fair? How does a bunch of GTP racers constantly racing and winning with lower PP levels look to the community as a whole? What does the GTP tag even mean anymore to the community as a whole?

It's not unfair, game mechanics state no minimum pp level, you can choose to run any pp level you want below the specified maximum. Blame PD, not the community.

But I don't think it's an unfair advantage, you have less power/downforce or more weight than someone running the full PP. I agree, the difference is only marginal, but so is starting in front of the grid as opposed to the back (read my previous post for an example why). Especially with RBE in effect. Add to that the effect is nullified if a lot of people do the same. There is no 'sure' way to end up in front, as anybody can drop his/her PP-level and you'll end up in the back anyway.

You're blowing this way out of proportion. There are people running different pp levels throughout the entire GT5P online community, not just in the GTP segment. And if you're suggesting these guys are only winning because they start at front of the grid everytime: you're wrong.

As for this event: it should be labeled: 'Cars must be at 650PP, or the maximum for that car if it does not reach 650PP'. Because I do feel that if those are the rules for this event, people should stick to it. But this applies to everybody, not just people with GTP tags.

You may use any Ferrari but try to not have it below 650 PP

I have no opinion about lower PP:s, but I wanna respect this events creator wishes. I also like starting back or middle, so it's not option to me lower PP.

Best practising about racing is fighting your way so high that possible. After turn 1, I'm usually position 10-12. If I manage to get position 4 in the end, I feel much more satisfaction than starting pole and winning...

Aye to that,

Leading a race from beginning to end is nice. Winning a race fighting your way up from behind gives me more satisfaction.

I'm still hooked to the old 750PP Suzuka race, but because none ( or few) GTP tagged drivers go there anymore I got myself a California with the DC tune.
Have to get used to the Cali, but the tune is good, tough it can be a handfull if upu put the pedal to the metal too soon.
It's all up to me now :sly: to get a bit more competitive.

Anyone racing at the moment, im not getting any GTP'ers in my races. Its been pretty bad tonight, punt fests & accidents all over the place. The last race i did, i just gave up and parked it in the pits because i got sick of constantly getting hit off.

I did a couple of races with the 512bb, saw a few GTP'ers
That 512bb is really a fun car to drive:tup:

I saw you racing with it, looked like a handful to drive :) I tried to do a few more races but 3 times in a row i got to the grid before being disconnected from the server, so i decided to leave it for an hour and will come back soon

The only thing that takes the fun from fighting is RBE and how the car starts to loose grip as you progress in the grid. Makes you do apparent stupid mistakes and sometimes you take someone with you.

Starting and finish first (or 2nd or 3rd...) has the advantage of having a more or less consistent car behavior. But it is boring...

And again, as in the past, I tuned the car (California) in free run and had it really perfect. Nailing everything right, not too tight, not too loose. Only to start a race and find that I was driving a completely different car... for the worst. :grumpy:

I wish they would setup at least ONE EVENT without RBE.

I won't run in this event again for these very reasons. 👎

I've observed other GTP'ers having success dealing with the physics and driving vulgarities at the Suzuka 650 event. I have to say that I admire them for being able to deal with the cheeziness and have a good time in spite of the obvious flaws. 👍

If the slower (lower PP) cars were started at the back of the grid as in real racing, we wouldn't have these problems. Those running stock setups are out of the way and no-one is going to run a setup just under the PP maximum, unless they wish to start at the back.

No the 599 is being used and quite successfully, I think GTRP_Tom(thanks to TAFKAH for reminding me), was doing well, even better and with a lot of success is GTP's own Sinsemila, taking as usual the unfancied and putting others to shame:)

Agree big time, seems to be getting more popular every day, witnessed several (JP) drivers, PAL users and GTP_Spiff, Superwally, GTP_Panjandrum, all either doing well or like me learning to drive this car

On the subject of lowering PP, bad sportsmanship, if it's low for reason like GTP_VIPERGTSR01, then that's fine, if a user is testing/fine tunning, again fine as long as they observe the racers and make way, same as the drifters...but others are their to race and unless the car is prevented from reaching max pp, everyone should be at the max pp for that event, we have enough problems with the ingame defects as well as the defective users, it would be better if tagged users or those associated with forums provide besides a clean, fast race, a race that starts on equall...ish terms

Well,

Though it is strange that the more you climb up the grid the slower the laptimes become and when leading RBE screws up the laptimes if one is far behind or a group is having it own race.
I don't bother too much about RBE.
For all sake , it's a game and should be enjoyed. At least I do 👍
I use mostly DC tunes, but I test them online while racing and then do (if necessary) some changes to get it to my likings.
And maybe in that way, compensate for RBE effects which screw up the car's settings

Yeah and even worse when a group of Drifters start running the race backwards really screws with your grip. :grumpy:

Timeattack, nice 10'39 final!

I want a slice of that cake.

Thanks bro. Here are a pair of 10:39's. On race where I placed third behind Bollocks, I would have likely gotten into the 36's or 37's for the overall race time had I not gotten punted off on the first lap going through Dunlop. Bullocks and I had an awesome fight as we made our way through the field though. I think we were running consistent low :05's in 2nd and 3rd place trying to catch up to the Sutil guy from a few seconds behind. Great driving Bollocks! 👍
