F1 201X - Updates & News DiscussionF1 2010-2016

So ...

Blazing through the game, thus far I noticed that cutting corners have become more restrictive and punishable, which is a good thing for online but got me completely by surprise on my first full length race (Started career with Lotus, normally as second with Kimi as first) and costed me the race, basically (2 penalties in the corner after sector 2 in Melbourne, 2 drive through, was on 6 th place, while going for 4th, good chances of making it however I give it up, because I should have got a bit more used to the game).

Restarting full length career, in Expert, Pro is far too much for me and my setup (a wheel is required for that, I'm playing on a DS3 emulating a 360 controller on a PC, is not bad but for this kind of game and the kind of difficulty it throws you need analogue pedals, force feedback, good shift and clutch pedals to go for pro, otherwise is really difficult to accomplish).

AI has improved in some areas, however they still lag a bit at the beginning but they are more prone to mistakes, and the difficulty challenge between the difficulty settings is spot on (now Expert is not a bit of a harder mode, and Pro is ... well is mental). AI also seems to have improve their strategy (full length wise), their behaviour and you don't have to be as careful while overtaking them because they seem to be a bit more aware of where you are on relation to the corner and the track, just a bit though, nothing significant and it improves the experience because the AI makes it less of a fault by the AI simply not able to cope with what the player does.

Apart from that, technically wise is identical to F1 2012, apart from a few improvements in tire wear and fuel management. Graphically is superior to F1 2013, not significantly but is still noticeable (water effect, textures and models seems to be a bit higher res, but I'm guessing they still keep the chain in some features on PC for the sake of performance, it runs and looks better than F1 2012, in my i3 2120+HD7850 it can run at 16xAA, everything in ultra without V-synch, it keeps frames at +50 and my rig [as I consider it] is as budget as it gets).

Oh, and historical challenges are amazing, so are the time trials, a real treat if you like time-trialling.

Great points. I am close to buying it on Steam. Hate paying $65 for any game though. Maybe I should wait until Black Friday & save some cash?

Don't buy it on steam/PC.

have you not read anything from the 2011 and 2012 Codemasters F1 forums?

go to steam, go to f1 2012, go to community discussions and you will see that its a broken game that they refuse to fix. Not only that, 2011 was also broken. Don't support the PC version.

FTFY.

If you're after a great F1 game you should give Game Stock Car 2013 a go. it's even better than the previous instalment and mods and additional tracks should surface in no time.

After a great F1 game, buy game stock car? Does that have the full 2013 F1 roster? Tracks? Classic Cars? Scenario modes?

Nah.

The scenario mode is great this year.

Also the classics are very good. If codemasters could keep getting more cars it would be great, but lets be happy that we have these for now.

Nah.

Is it a proper racing game with valid physics instead of toycar physics? Yes.
Can you mod it to suit your needs? Yes.

That's more important than having everything right out of the box. :)

I bought this on Friday but didn't play it until today. I was worried about this one, due to the fact there was no new tracks added in the 2013 season. However, Codies have really blown my socks off with this one, it's so good I may even say it's better than Championship Edition. So where to start? The Classics mode I think is the gem of F1 2013, as it has potential to expand through DLC or F1 2014. As someone who grew up with the likes of Sebastian Vettel and Jenson Button, I was intrigued to see what the older F1 cars were like, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who thought this. I really hope Codies expand on Classics in future titles, as I'd like to see some epic battles from the past recreated in HD (Final race of 1976 season between James Hunt and Niki Lauda). The core gameplay is pretty much the same, but the cars seem harder to drive which I like. There are many more things I'm yet to try, but Codies F1 games are getting better by the year. I just hope the PS4 and Xbox One is going to make for an F1 game that shows what next gen can do.

Surely the final race of the 1976 Grand Prix between Hunt and Lauda would be fairly boring seeing as Lauda retired from the race after lap 2...... :P

So the game is out, and I've been trying to pre-order it from amazon.com (United states) but they say it doesn't release until the 30th of November. Would it be wise to buy it from the PSN store? Never downloaded an entire game before.

First 5 (maybe even up to the Ring, now that I think about it) of the 1976 season might be the better choice. :P

Would really be great if some of you would stop with the Anti-codemasters protesting. We get it, you'll never like anything they do. They'll never make something that feels like a sim, blah freaking blah. Just stop it please.

Physics, opinion. Mod it? Nah, but not everyone, meaning the majority of buyers, wants to have to download a million mods to get what they want.

Not to mention the majority play on console. F1 2012 sold a total of 1.32 million according to VGcharts. .78 million ps3, .43 million on 360 and .1 million on PC. the majority of which was Europe. Same again with 2011, in fact the 3DS almost outsold the PC version of 2011. And for 2010, out of 2.14 millions sales, 0.04 were PC.

Should Codemasters F1 games be made to suit PC gamers? hell no. Enjoy Game Stock Car for your F1 needs but I'll stick with F1 games.

Is that a driver with a Renault Helmet driving a McLaren?

I'm so far behind with all of this. Will there be a nextgen (PS4, XB1) version of this game? Does it make much sense to get it now?

According to Codemasters, no. I'm sure we'll see F1 2014 on the PS4 and Xbone though.

My F1 2012 was ok, but have not checked the forums. Have to admit I didn't play it 100 hrs. I have GSC 2012 & thought the phyics were good. I also have Formula Truck for a nice diversion. For me Rfactor 2 is my favorite at the moment even though it still has a long way to go.

Yes, I have and no problems 👍

Awesome, I'll do that then. Now for the PS store to release f1 2013 already. Probably later tonight? Havn't been able to find a release time for it at all.

Nevermind, looked on the store, it says release date is on the 8th.

My dad just went up to gamestop to pay for the game and they told him it doesn't come out until the 29th :odd:

Edit: And I just found out why:

Codemasters has advised that the physical retail release of F1 2013 in the USA and Canada will be given a revised date due to logistic issues specific to SKUs for the two territories.

So, it looks like I may want to consider the PSN download.

Yes 12:01 a.m. (tonight) I should be able to start the download, may call in sick tomorrow :sly:

I just had 3 days off in a row from Lowe's, which rarely happens. (Wish that happened after it was released). I work tomorrow, which is good timing, 10-3 est tomorrow, let it download all night, and play when I get home from work. Just need to pray for stable internet connection throughout the night. I'm sure it's gonna take a good while to download, and the internet stays stable at night since no one would go on it.

If the internet does go out, do I have to restart the whole download? Or will it start from wherever it left off.

It starts off wherever it left off so no need to worry about that.

I think I've decided to wait for a price drop before I pick this game up. I've loved all of Codemasters F1 efforts so far but I have too many games to play already and I don't think this game would get enough attention to warrant a purchase now.

There's a couple of embarrassing glitches in the PS3 Classic Edition (at least):

1: If you want to restart a race, the game suddenly thinks it's opposite day. "Yes" returns you to the pause menu, while "No" restarts the race.

2: If you're in a practice/quali session, choosing the "Drive Out" option puts you at the beginning of S3, while "Flying Lap" means you do the whole out-lap before setting your times.

Other than that, I'm enjoying the game so far, but I struggled during quali at Melbourne. I was 21st in a Force India, but had a 10-place penalty for spinning out Gutierrez. I managed to storm through the field and take 9th, though, and I qualified 11th for Malaysia.

Downloaded the classic edition last night and will play this afternoon (if I leave work early), or after work :)

Looking forward to hearing those older cars 👍
