F1 201X - Updates & News DiscussionF1 2010-2016

Just bought the Classic Edition on Greenman gaming for $43 USD / £27 / €33. Promo code for 25% off - GMG25-W38UG-WZTBY

The standard edition's on sale at simplycdkeys for £15:

Not hoping for much, I kind of gave up on Codies F1 after 2012, but played a ton of the game in previous years, always PC. We'll see though, hopefully I don't have to mess around too much to get a good feel for it.

Add me on Steam btw, if anyone wants to hang out in the game whenever: _kojack

I'll see tomorrow how it goes :)

Anyone notice the onboard cam is now a few millimeters more accurate? Now if only they would raise it up abit more, then it would be spot on.

Here's an annoying thing happened to me today, my brother preordered the classic edition from Game at £44.99. I didn't bother because there is a Game store 5 minutes from me, went in today to get it, regular edition in store is £42.99 and the Classic edition is £59.99. I queried this with a Game staff member, he looked on the Game website and sure enough it was £44.99 online. He told me there is a problem somewhere as there should not be that much of a price difference. I did initially pay £42.99 for the normal edition as I wanted to just play the game, however the guy in Game told me that if I give him another £2 he would refund me the initial £42.99 and order the Classic edition for me to be delivered directly. Quite happy now, but miffed as I have to wait to play. :(

So be warned, if you are going into Game for the classic edition beware they will be looking for £60, query that with staff and they should be able to do the same for you as they did with me.

Classic edition is $75 bucks Canadian on PSN store (dlc); but not available in Canada as pre-order anymore anywhere else (e.g. EB Games), so I will have to buy the dlc at PSN instead of hard disk because I want the classic extra cars and tracks; pricey but I enjoy F1 too much :)

Games actually pretty awesome. Didn't play 2012 much but from what I can remember in 2011 there's a lot of improvements. Sound is just epic, love everything about it (except the super exaggerated tire squealing, really think you'll hear it like that with a roaring 18k rpm V8 engine bolted to your back?), the control is still classical Codies numb, but with some great flashes of brilliance in the way oversteer creeps up. The understeer's still a problem though, good luck trying to do one of those 180 flip around burnouts :(

Classic mode's pretty much just a novelty to me... feels cool to go around in the old cars but... meh, I don't know, maybe they'll grow on me. I like the Lotus 100T most so far.

They definitely ramped up the randomness of the AI this year though. Came across a few strange incidents in doing my first race weekend. btw, I wish there was a more sensitive damage model option, right now the things feel like little tanks still.

Getting a great challenge from the AI on expert mode. Finished the YDT with all golds and opted to join Sauber, messed up qualifying a bit, could've easily gotten into Q3 but I ended up 11th with Nico in 10th haha x(

In the race, dirty air seems a lot more prevalent, but not stupidly so, they achieved a great balance with that. Also! cold tires are done really well, well comparatively so anyway, that's great to see.

Menu's a big improvement, I definitely don't miss those trailers. The scenarios are pretty awesome this time around, should have fun with those, pleasantly surprised to see the same thing in Classic mode as well, recreating some epic moments in F1 history.

I'd definitely recommend F1'13 to anyone on the fence about it, it's a really solid buy imo. Gonna have some good fun with this one.

Just to note this...

Gamestop made a change to it street dated on the 29th for NA PS3/X360 release? But Walmart & Best Buy have it listed for release on the 8th?

I just noticed the exact same thing after reading a similar post on the Codemasters forum. I found it odd as I had just pre-ordered my copy after work today thinking next Tuesday would be a fun after work day. Well...after taking a closer look at my pre-order receipt just now it looks like it has been pushed back to the 29th. That's what my receipt reads at least. Oh well, I'm sure there's a reason for the delay.

Two friends bought the game yesterday, both g27 on ps3, there is almost no force feedback from the wheel even at 100%, so the driving feels like floating. Just to let you guys know, i don't have a g27.

I'm on a driving force gt but i do not have the game. If you have some feedback or settings i'll appreciate.

But you can do grand prix with them on any track.

A note on damage and people who feel the cars are too strong. That's not a codemasters thing. Thats the FIA, they won't let codemasters mash the cars up like we want.

Just bought f2013 classic edition PS3 from tescodirect.com for £40 with discount code:-

you need to set up a brand new account

Cheapest in the uk I think 👍

Got mine in the post yesterday.
Only done the young driver test so far and it looks good.

Can't wait to play it properly and really test it.
I pre-ordered the Classic Edition on Amazon months ago at £49.99, on release date it was down to £44.99 and I got an e-mail today saying a got a £5 refund as it is now £40.00.
Chuffed! :D haha!

Fantastic game.

Is nice to see the scenarios and challenges expanded from the F1 2012 version, plus the old cars and ... Imola.

Haven't had this much fun with a racing game since Forza Horizon.

I really hoping next year they get F1 classic cars and (especially)Tracks from the 1960's. Old '60's Spa in a Lotus '49, with the latest EGO 3.0 graphics engine....holy crap *drools*

Enjoying the game so far especially the 80's classic content as I only got the standard edition and getting the 90's content in 2 weeks when it goes onto the PlayStation store due to them allowing those who got the classic edition the 2 weeks exclusivity.

Hopefully next year there will even more classic content including some Mclarens which I think were not included due to licencing issues

I have to admit, Codemasters have done a fine job with 2013... and that's coming from someone who was about as skeptical as can be.

I'm half inclined to start screenshottin'.

You get it on PC?

So ...

Blazing through the game, thus far I noticed that cutting corners have become more restrictive and punishable, which is a good thing for online but got me completely by surprise on my first full length race (Started career with Lotus, normally as second with Kimi as first) and costed me the race, basically (2 penalties in the corner after sector 2 in Melbourne, 2 drive through, was on 6 th place, while going for 4th, good chances of making it however I give it up, because I should have got a bit more used to the game).

Restarting full length career, in Expert, Pro is far too much for me and my setup (a wheel is required for that, I'm playing on a DS3 emulating a 360 controller on a PC, is not bad but for this kind of game and the kind of difficulty it throws you need analogue pedals, force feedback, good shift and clutch pedals to go for pro, otherwise is really difficult to accomplish).

AI has improved in some areas, however they still lag a bit at the beginning but they are more prone to mistakes, and the difficulty challenge between the difficulty settings is spot on (now Expert is not a bit of a harder mode, and Pro is ... well is mental). AI also seems to have improve their strategy (full length wise), their behaviour and you don't have to be as careful while overtaking them because they seem to be a bit more aware of where you are on relation to the corner and the track, just a bit though, nothing significant and it improves the experience because the AI makes it less of a fault by the AI simply not able to cope with what the player does.

Apart from that, technically wise is identical to F1 2012, apart from a few improvements in tire wear and fuel management. Graphically is superior to F1 2013, not significantly but is still noticeable (water effect, textures and models seems to be a bit higher res, but I'm guessing they still keep the chain in some features on PC for the sake of performance, it runs and looks better than F1 2012, in my i3 2120+HD7850 it can run at 16xAA, everything in ultra without V-synch, it keeps frames at +50 and my rig [as I consider it] is as budget as it gets).

Oh, and historical challenges are amazing, so are the time trials, a real treat if you like time-trialling.
