Loving the new rules, back to being a caption game, keeps it simple. Also thumbs up for PMing the entries; too many entries "inspired" by the last one.
I like it. 👍
It's returning the "caption" competition to being just that, a contest to supply a witty or amusing caption to a given, undoctored picture, not a show of superior photo-editing skills.
In the interests of everyone's amusement, I'd say that if you want to post your amusing edits of the picture here that's no problem, however, they shouldn't be eligible for winning the "caption" contest, that should be open to textual entries only.
That's myanyway.
so youre saying only post the final entries?
No, he's saying you can post any number of entries you want here in the thread, but you have to PM him your final entry.
I don't think it's really plagiarism when people think the same way. I think the only instance when it came close last year was the European GP round where I re-jigged the Ezekiel 25:17 speech from PULP FICTION just after Smallhorses had without realising it.Loving the new rules, back to being a caption game, keeps it simple. Besides, if people all make jokes about the same thing, it only hurts their chances because everyone will see it happening.
At least when you PM the entries there's no doubt. You can't look at two similar captions without thinking one might've been partly copied from the other. Now if they end up being similar, you can give the prize to the best execution, maybe even both, knowing they're original.
I fear exclusive PM could harm the dynamic of this thread.
By the way, plagiarism should not be confused with brainstorming. I really dont mind if a posted caption leads to better one, even if the latest partially recycles a previous input. Its all part of the creative process in my opinion. Hopefully people will continue to public post their final caption.
For some reason, I like where this thread is going
