Okay then, Michael is rounding this corner in a few seconds, lets dazzle him so that our laptimes will look tolerable!

Kubica reported strong vibrations in his car during testing, but not as a complaint.

Engineer: Dude, I swear this will be the last time I drink so much tinto de verano. Hope nobody saw me grabbing that bottle in a rush and peeing in it...

I should have an important update on Tuesday morning (hopefully) regarding the 2010 Caption Comp.

I swear to tell the time, the whole time, and nothing but the time, so help me God

The opening post has an update of the rules.

Scoring was an obvious change, voting has changed to allow you more control of how you vote. Final submission is slightly more complex (well, one more click, so shouldn't be too difficult ;)), but it makes it easier than trawling through the thread and finding someone who's had 3 or 4 captions, and finding which one is their final one.

The deadlines are subject to change, but they will be like that for at least a couple of months, luckily work at the moment is self-employed, so I choose when I work, but from May onwards it may change, from September onwards, job application willing, I may have to hand over the reins to TM, but we'll cross that bridge if we come to it.

Please give me some feedback, I've taken a fair bit of advice from TM, as I agreed with most of it. It just makes it more organised, easier for me to collaborate the final entries and give you more scope for voting.

I'm going to put forward the motion of a practice round, done properly, before the Bahrain GP? I'm good to go this Thursday if anyone says otherwise, it won't count towards the table though ;)

I liked the three points system and how you can vote in only one person if you wish so. Didn't like much of the compulsory vote if you submitted a caption though, it makes things a bit too serious for a game.

About the no editing/no other pictures (and I believe no videos, songs or whatever extras people might use?) I know it can get wild sometimes but I like to edit the pictures every now and then. But I'm ok with this one, I just didn't like the compulsory vote one.

Edit: Oh, and I just saw the Tinkerbell caption peterjford posted. Makes mine pretty dull now...

Well i have to disgree with you there live, i think the thing with the none use of other pictures is a great idea and the complusory vote idea is brilliant as well

The only problem that i have with it is that the time period because you are saying four days should be suffice but i would consider possibly extending that to a wekk and then giving everyone the week to the next vote.

Obviously your idea is going to be brilliant for the week after week races but if the next race is going to be a fortnight/three weeks/a month away, gonna make it a bit of a long trawl to the next caption but that is my opinion and no doubt, when Ardius or interludes reads this, it will probably be slated! (kidding guys)

Bad idea. We will have too many almost identical captions. It takes up PM space and sometimes viewing captions in the thread can inspire others,

Inspire plagiarism? Yeah, that was a problem last season too.

I'm happy to alter these rules if people aren't happy with everything, the compulsory voting I'm not so fussed on, albeit I think if you submit, you should vote, but not fussed if people rather it wasn't forced.

PM space? Use delete, it's a few extra seconds, I agree it is quite a bit more hassle, but I hate trawling through several pages and I have to guess which caption (of about 3 or 4) someone has as their final caption, this way you can post as many as you like in the thread, you don't even have to post them in the thread.

Ian, agreed, I'll alter the rules later. That will be the schedule for back to back races, but with 2-week breaks, I'll extend the times.

But then how will the competitors scope up the competion?

I think it will be the same, with everyone posting their captions here. The only difference is that when someone finally has their final caption up, they will also PM it to SB as their entry.

At least that is how I hope it goes. I always loved this thread, its my favorite thing to read during a bad day at work, so I hope their continues to be lots of captions posted here.

As for the no modified images/no additional images, I think that would be ok for the actual contest, but people should be allowed to put up modified and added images just for fun.

I hope I can be able to keep up with the deadlines.

Maybe for the long breaks we can have an additional image to caption, even if it is not for points.

Oh, and one last thing, I give everyone permission to use a Tinkerbell reference in the Hekki photo. I may have been first to post it but I know I am not the only one to think it, so keep them coming.

Yep, there is no limitation on posting captions in here, but there is no requirement too, but I'm in no way discouraging posting of captions in here.

Certainly got no problems with people posting non-competition related pictures/captions, though I'd prefer if it wasn't right in the middle of a round.

Yeah, we can also keep this thread active during the breaks.

I will clarify the deadlines, it will only be tight for back-to-back races, but I think that's better than having 2 weeks overlap, isn't it?

I like it. 👍
It's returning the "caption" competition to being just that, a contest to supply a witty or amusing caption to a given, undoctored picture, not a show of superior photo-editing skills.

In the interests of everyone's amusement, I'd say that if you want to post your amusing edits of the picture here that's no problem, however, they shouldn't be eligible for winning the "caption" contest, that should be open to textual entries only.

That's my

anyway.

I don't like these mew rules, things were fine before. If it ain't broken, don't fix it.
