F12 Berlinetta - arrived 29 Feb 2012

Hmm, looks like I'm too late.

I'll just leave this here.

What inspired Ferrari to have this model put out over 700BHP? Beautiful looking thing, I'm in love with the rear.

Meanwhile, in Sant'Agata...

"New Ferrari matches our Aventador boss."

"I see...we make new model. Call it Aventador LP 800-4."

Would much have rather have this with 700+ horse than that:
Nope sorry, with all the due respect that thing looks like a Split Second car. Go ask Aston Martin or Maserati to build a car with that design they'll laugh at you. Premium brands request classy design. Ferrari is one heck of a Premium brand.

About the new model I'm impressed by the overall design and expecially by the front. They kinda mixed a 599 with a 458. This new F12 thing looks so brilliant and innovative, the extreme front end remind me a sort of stylish skull or something. Amazing work. The Angry look is perfect here.

I think I did a mess in my pants when I saw the front

Then I saw the back... Looks horrible from behind :yuck:

Anyway, I still like it overall, and it should be good - now if only I could afford one.. :P

Hmm, not "sold" yet. I wasn't sold on the 599 at first either. I still think that's overpowered, too, on paper at least. It'll be interesting to see if this new "Function 12" is any better in that regard (Incidentally, why have Ferrari suddenly turned their backs on the classic nomenclature?)
I also hope that video is a test mule and not representative of the final sound. A V12 Ferrari road car should growl like a quartet of triples, not shriek like a pair of 6 cylinder banshees, in my mind. They did a similar thing with their V8s, starting with the 355's "Y-pipe". Maybe it was just inevitable.

Still massively exciting, of course.

Looking at their previous models, LP760-4 is more likely..

Going purely on a per-litre basis, Lamborghini ought to be able to eke out 750 - 780 from that engine, if it's as lively as the old one. The new Ferrari is already a monster in comparison, but, going by the 458, it should be capable of 750+ too if they decide to "GTO" it, or whatever.

I like how this car looks overall, but not a big fan of the rear.

Can somebody explain to me why Ferrari ever moved away from twin tail lights? I much prefer the twins that were on pretty much every Ferrari ever.

It was about Pininfarina wanting to try something new and different. And that it would look better on the wide body of car and would make it look more elegant and less sporty. But they were talking about the 599.

I will try and find the article that it was in Found it.

I...
If this replaces the 599, I don't like it. The 599 looks sexy as frack. This.. changes things a bit too much. It loses that "defined" look. Looks more like it was shaped from aerodynamics than shaped from a brush.

It looks menacing and.. don't get me wrong, I like it. But it doesn't look classy like the 599 does.

Here is the interior. The steering wheel looks
It looks the exact same in every Ferrari on sale, though, mate.

I was thinking about that.. I can't see Lamborghini heading towards 800 though..

Unless, Aventador SV?
Probably not going to happen for another 4-5 years at the least.

This is the most likely route, but again, that'll be a few years down the line & by that point, the next model in the 512Berlinetta line up should be upcoming.

As for the car, I like the front & the side. Rear isn't ugly per say, but it's definitely not attractive. However, ever since the 599's introduction, new Ferraris have somehow, looked amazingly better in person. The California looked nice in person & the FF grew on me the second I saw it in the flesh. I think there's just lots of little details in how Pininfarina designs these cars that can only be appreciated when you have the option to look at the cars from multiple angles.

Well, I think it's an improvement on the 599, that car always looked huge to me, and this one looks like it's gone back down a size or two, making it a more appealing driver's car. I really like the rear tail-lights and valance panel, and I like the big swoopy slashes that start at the bonnet and whip down the side of the car.

Front looks mega.

Rear three quarter looks......odd.

I do also struggle to see the point of having the same-ish HP as a F1 car, with about ~5% (a guess, but you get teh idea) of the downforce :odd:
