Thats six people willing to take part.
So is everyone ok with what I've suggested; that we use the car that won the previous grand prix (within reason) and the track which they won on then that weeks race is over when the next grand prix winner passes the chequered flag? eg If Kubica won in Australia we would use the BMW in Melbourne until say Vettel won in Kuala Lumper, then we'd use the Red Bull.
If thats ok we can have a warm up before Australia.
Or would you all prefer the old style?
Hey guys, I would be interested in giving this a try. I'm not great at time trials but I love a challenge Since I haven't done this before, I don't know the difference between the "old style" and the "new style" but the new looks good to me 👍 I might need a little coaching on what to do at first and how to post proof of laps Of course, after looking at past scores compared to what I have done on those tracks I may not have to post at all

Yea, sorrry about that should have explained that a bit better.
Last year we had a weekly round, using random cars and tracks for each week and it ended at about 9pm GMT on Sunday evenings. Then I'd pick the next car and track.
The times all had to be set within that week and the winner had to post a picture of his/her winning time.
However often I didnt have time to post a car or track until late on Sunday or often even the Monday. So with the newer idea at least that wont be a problem and for most rounds we'll have two weeks instead of just the one (because a lot of people often commented how they never got around to participating). Also I find a lot of people like to drive on tracks they've just seen a race on, so this should lead to greater popularity.
Finally I expect this season to have a lot of different winners IRL, so we should use a lot of different cars.

We could just use say the Ferrari (because they won the constructors) at Nurburgring (because it isnt in the calender this year). Just for a practice to see how many people would turn up and if there is any issues. We can start either the Sunday before the start of the season, or right now, which would you guys prefer?
Ooh, but it is. It now alternates with Hockenheim each year for the German GP, so no Hockenheim I'm afraid.
I don't know if I could be bothered doing this series again, I put a worrying amount of effort into it last time. That said since i've started using my g25 a couple of days ago i've definitely become faster, the competition could be good for learning the tracks again with the wheel. I'll see. If you are running it, I think you should make it all coincide with the F1 season.
Oopps, thought it was the other way around, thought Hockenheim was this year!
And I'll try to keep our season as close to the real one as possible, but obviously within reason. Possibly will change over to the 09 version when it releases, depending on who buys it or how good it is.
Cool I'll maybe participate from time to time.I meant to ask how you're getting on with your DFGT wheel for F1 CE in particular? I remember you saying you were having big problems with the pit stops. Amazingly I can now do faster stops with the G25 than the sixaxis, I don't know why but I'm always a couple of tenths up on what I used to be. Got a 7.0s flat yesterday.
I found the wheel very difficult at first, but I think this was more to do with coordinating both legs and arms that I found strange (even though I can drive IRL and i'm a drummer ) but now I can't imagine going back to using a controller with automatic gears again. It just isn't as fun.
Sadly I havent used it much since then. I'm at college now and have the PS3 here, but thought it'd be slightly too geeky to bring the wheel up as well, and I didnt want it damaged.
I'll have the PS3 back home around mid-April so I'll let you know how I'm getting on with it then. My problem was that the R1 and L1 buttons are on top of the spokes coming from the hub to the edge of the wheel and so it was always very difficult to bend my figures in such a way to press both R1,2 and L1,2 at the same time, but I'll figure out away.
I'll have to learn manual over the summer as well, like you I drive a manual all the time IRL, so I dont know how it can be so difficult in the game, but I'll use the paddle shifts on the DFGT, the gear stick is very poor IMO, and its on the right! Who ever thought to put it there!
SorryAhem, please look left!
We'll run in Hockenheim in the Honda for the practice round, submit times whenever you wish from now until the end of the Australian GP.
