I'm split, I Dont play F1 2011 but I do drive the formula cars in pCARS.
I actually think the BMW GT wheel is a better design as it copies a great GT wheel layout. BUT if i only buy the GT wheel it makes driving any other formula style car very hard.
I was only considering the Formula Rim because when racing you rarely go over 360 degree lock, so having a full circled wheel isn't needed. In that sense the formula rim would work for any racing car, but driving a normal road car where you would have to move your hands for more than 360 lock would be improbable .

I wonder why Fanatec chose to start with those two rims...

So that they can sell you the ultimate wheel afterwards? They just wanted to have two very different rims at start. BMW is because connections of the racing team and fanatec (I know nothing about how this got started) and F1 is just likely because of the F1 game. Also race car rims have buttons that gamers need as default.

I have a question I think you can answer. GT5 just had an update that altered the force feedback for all supported wheels. Since you had csw before the update and the csw uses the logitech drivers, have you noticed any differences in the force feedback after the most recent update? Thanks.

This is still NDA. Besides it was pretty weather outside and hot inside since we don't have airco. So no racing for me yet. Someone with a CSR Elite should be experiencing roughly the same changes though even though the electronics are different.
I have a G25 here for direct comparison. So that's nice.

Information about this will be available at least not earlier then the point at which every tester has received their equipment. After which a 2 week countdown should start unless Thomas decides to lengthen the testing time frame. So the best bet I can give you is that more information will probably become available in this time frame. However I am just a tester and no decision maker.

The pre-orders did not start as we really want it to happen on the new website in order to avoid problems with the data if we have to transfer it to the new shop system. There is a delay on the new shop so it can take until mid June."

Has anyone tried any fanatec wheels on gt5 post the latest update? Seeing they all use logitech drivers, they all should have " improved force feedback".

I haven't updated gt5 yet. My wife is going to be gone Saturday night, so I'm sliding the rig over a few feet so I can play on my 65" screen with my surround. Setup on the 42 I only have stereo speakers. I want to try a couple cars pre update the switch ps3 to the updated versions.
Some cars are reportedly sounding much better, that's why I want to wait to use the full living room setup.

A kid can dream right? But I doubted. Think the production process is just slow to make sure they get everything right. I wish Fanatec was a bigger company though....

What would be really cool is if Fanatec partnered up with another company that could manufacture a wheel rim or two.

Well I have turbo S and patched the game. You can read my comments on 2.06 live thread or my "post 2.04 FFB sucks thread"(well the name is not exactly that )

In short I did not notice much but I now have FFB at 10 and did not notice any change going from setting 7. (still feels as numb over curbs as after 2.04 patch)

I have to investigate this more in coming days and play with "on-wheel-settings".

I did my testing using GT86 and track was trial mountain.

The point is, that these delays are nothing new from Fanatec. And if you are not satisfied with this "policy", then move forward and look for any alternative. There is nobody forcing you to join this game played by Fanatec. And don't tell me that there are no alternatives.

Especially you are posting nothing else then complaints about delays. This is getting boring... You ask almost every single day if Thomas has any news. What do you expect?

Exactly, this is not the first time Fanatec will have delayed availability of new product. I will not go into detail, there are numerous threads scattered about the many Sim-related forums including GTP that go back a couple of years documenting this re-occurring theme.

The flip side to some of the posts on this thread and related threads are that they could be interpreted as viral marketing designed to goose interest in a delayed product, but we will never probably know situated here across the grassy knoll of the www.

I'm not complaing at all.

Every time the CSW release is delayed, i'm glad i bought the CSR Elite
The CSR elite is still an awesome wheel, so i'm waiting patiently.

I already added fanatec to my default chrome startpage for a regular 'pre-order check'

I've been in doubt for a couple of months now:

A: Go for the CSW Pre-order instantly when available
B: Wait for the production improvements in the second or third batch.

Option B would be the most sensible one, since i already have the CSR Elite.

Option A makes sense if you take in account that Fanatec has already had production experience and improvements making the wheelbase also for the CSR Elite.

But when i start up my browser (sometime in june) and see the CSW is available for preorder, i will probably go for option A without even thinking

One could imagine that with the embargo, no news and another delay, people start complaining. But we should keep this topic clean
