From Thomas's Blog:

It should be interesting to see when the dust settles who and how many people pony up their hard earned cash to pre-order one of these (CSW+F1 Rim+BMW Rim+Clubsport V2's) right from the start or wait till the community puts the hardware through it's paces to make sure it all works as expected. :)

For myself, if it works in spectacular fashion for the PS3 with GT-5, Dirt2/3 and of course F1 2011/2012 then I'm all in =)

The question is how many of us have faith for that initial first pre-order? :nervous:

^^ I Guess i can always cancel pre-order if the reviews are bad?? But I only have750$ atm so it looks like Ill be stuck using my G27 pedals for a little while.

If the reviews are bad then that does not mean the equipment is. ;)
Sure if you said "if the reviews report negatively about the equipment" then I think you said what you wanted to say. :P

For me, I'm really going to wait what the reviews say about the CSW before deciding. I only play GT5 so it must be close to being spectacular to be worth changing my equipment as long as it isn't broken. In-game support is a big factor in that decision.

@LogiForce: nice one, but you're totally right :-)

Question - Will the CSW come with the Logitech Pedals adapter?

Idea - We've been talking about different rims for the CSW and many of us want a simple rim with no buttons and I'm sure some hardcore modders would want to create their own. I thought of something that could help, since the CSW's electronics are suppose to be top notch it may be able to support this in the future.

Fanatec could build a peripheral device that plugs into the base no bigger than a graphing size calculator with all the buttons and small digital display you use to change wheel settings. So none of these thing would need to be on the wheel itself.

So We could have a Simple quick release rim with no buttons on it at all, Fanatec could make money because you would need the peripheral controller to use no button wheels/ mod created wheels. Something like this could bring even more popularity to the CSW/Fanatec.

Fanatec will not sell the quick release.

And I belive yes to g27 pedal adapters.

*frowns* I believe Thomas said something about the compatibility with analog pedals a while back in this thread. Which did not include if such an adapter would come with it. So I wonder what you base this on?

^ Yup, Thomas said the G27 pedals will work with the CSW, but I dont know if anything was said about if the adaptor would included or not. Some fanatec wheels came with them.

I meant that they would be compatible... And presumably for them to be compatible they will need an adapter...?

Agreed, but that doesn't guarantee it being shipped as a standard accessory per definition. E.g. a lot of cars these days are compatible with iDevices, but that does not necessarily mean the adapter cable is included or the iDevice dock. It often comes as an option.

Anyway, all will be revealed soon. I am sure Mayaman and I can fill in the details, as well as others who will post here as well. ;)

I agree. I understand Fanatec does not want people to be left out because their review is late, but if every reviewer for a site has a wheel, then I think they should be given the go ahead before pre-orders.

To get back on which game has the BMW M3 GT2. I thought only Simraceway had it, but it's also in the GT Power Pack for Race07. Just wanted to share this small bit of info, since I know Race07 is nice though graphically dated (but I believe there are mods out there for that as well).

Edit: I think this was the mod... ENBSeries: http://enbdev.com

Some good looking updates for all fanatec users :

Submitted by Thomas on Wed, 06/13/2012 - 05:04.

The internal testing was succesful so far so we are now looking for external beta testers for our new firmware. These versions are clearly BETA versions so please install them only if you are an experienced user.

Firmware 742BETA runs on the follwing wheels:
  • CSR
  • CSR Elite
  • 911 GT3 RS V2
  • 911 Turbo S
  • 911 GT2
IMPORTANT: If you want to use the RF dongle for your 911 GT2 or Turbo S wheel, please do not update, as with this version you can only use the USB connection afterwards.
There is no firmware update planned for the 911 Turbo (not S), 911 Carrera and 911 GT3RS V1.

We made a lot of changes and these are some of them:
  • ACL added to all Wheels
  • 500 Hz update rate
  • Allows use of SDK to show telemetry data on Tuning display
  • Improved force feedback algorithms
  • Improved FF sensitivity around center position
  • Improved center spring
  • DPR and SPR calculation changed
  • Improved navigation in Tuning menu (keep pressing the up or down button)
  • Default Sensitivity = OFF (900°)
  • Changed button mapping to ensure compatibility to older games
  • New initialisation sequence to auto detect minimum ff level required for each individual wheel
  • fixed issue with hanging ff signals
  • Changed button combo for center calibration. Please follow manual of updater (included)
If you use this on PC you also need to isntall the latest BETA version of our driver. Below you find version 125 for 32 and 64 bit.
It also comes with a lot of changes and we fixed a lot of issues we had in the force feedback core of the driver.
Like with the firmware, this version of the driver is only for eperienced users yet and not for the general public. Please report all issues you find right here so we can work on them before releasing the final versions.

Firmware 742 BETA

Pretty cool!

In other news, I sold some random stuff I had laying around and scratched together about $500. I also still have to sell my TrackIR5. That should be enough to offset the cost of the CSW with two rims. The rest will be covered by selling the CSR-E. I'm happy! LOL!

Pre-order here I come! (again)

Actually it is :)

Be sure to log in and refresh the page, only then you will see all the updates

I automatically always refresh his blog when I go there. Sometimes it updates automatically and sometimes it needs a refresh.

I have just updated to 742, I haven't tested the wheel yet. There was a problem as soon as the firmware update had finished though. The wheel started moving fairly quickly left to right on its own, I checked the wheel settings and the DRI setting was at the usual default position of 3. I changed this to 0 as I don't use DRI anyway and the wheel was behaving as it should.

Like I said this happened straight after the update, I have not tried or tested on any games yet but will report back when I do.

Really interested to see what the wheel center sensitivity upgrade is like mentioned in Thomas's notes, this was my main problem with the wheel.

Updated to 742 too, have not been able to test it yet.
It hung on me during the first try, but the second time i had no problems.

I think fanatec is struggling with the FFB and RTC around the center because they want to avoid shaking on the straights.

I would be nice to have some "FFB / RTC setting" in the tuning menu so the user can decide what he wants.

Well, enjoy testing guys. I better get on the road with finishing up stuff at my end too before the due date.

Played a couple of hours of Forza with the new firmware. There does appear to be some improvement in sensitivity around the centre but the steering has lost a lot of weight, I'm not convinced I like it, I'll play with the Spring/Damper settings later.

Halfway between the feeling of 737 and this would be great.
