US website halfway works. I've had to reload each step like 100 times to get the complete page to load. I'm on the checkout portion now, but it's not loading the complete page.

I'm just going to repost this

Okay, so I managed to order Base, 2 Wheels and V2 Pedals!

...I think!

But how will I know for sure if I'm successful?

I have a Paypal receipt, but there are still 4 items in my basket and nothing in the order history.

WTF!?!?! This is a mess.

What now?

I think the whole time we have been waiting for the release has frazzled our heads, that and how confusing time zones can get.

I know CEST is the same as GMT +2, I have not once questioned this. I only quoted you post as you said;

Which they are not. 12.00 CEST is actually 10.00 GMT/UTC and 12.00 GMT/UTC is 14.00 CEST.

I never said 12.00 GMT/UTC. I said 12.00 GMC/UTC +2
What my original question was, which is irrelevant due to the delay (again! I'm still waiting patiently though), was at what time should the site go live.

Thomas said earlier in the week that it would be 12.00 German time on the Thursday, which we all know is 10.00 GMT/UTC +2. Yet on Thursday after the first delay the time was stated to be 12.00 GMT/UTC +2 (CEST) on the Friday to which I read it that it'll be going live at 14.00 CEST, 13.00 UK time and 12.00 GMT/UTC

*Edit - having just drunk a large cup of coffee I can see where this confusion has come from. If the time was posted in a way to resemble = '12.00 (GMT/UTC +2) CEST' then I (and afew others?) would've read it as 12.00 CEST. As it was written '12.00 GMT/UTC +2 (CEST)' I read it as though it would be 14.00 CEST.

No. 12.00 German IS 12.00 GMT/UTC + 2. German time is 2 hours ahead of GMT, so when we want to show that something is in German time, we write GMT+2. The +2 doesn't mean add two hours, it means that you are talking about the time zone that is two hours ahead of GMT/UTC.

I'm going to say this again. GMT/UTC + 2 = CEST Therefore, 12.00 GMT/UTC + 2 is the same as 12.00 CEST. I don't see how you can possibly take that as 14.00 CEST.

My order is in!

I couldn't pay directly by credit card, so had to use Paypal (I hate Paypal), but whatever, the order is in, so I'm happy.

Used paypal also, although it couldn't redirect back to Fanatec page many times and on paypal, it still says pending.

My order has been placed, got the e-mail from Paypal, got the confirmation page at Fanatec, and my shopping cart is now empty.

I don't think your order went through in the system.

But I'm sure if the paypal went through they'll take care of you still and put your order in manually based on the time it was received.

Anyone having issues with their credit card. Pay Pal just keeps telling me it won't take it, but does not give a reason. As soon as I purposely put in a wrong number it tells me to fix it. When everything is right it says try another card. WTF. LOL

It's all a good sign we shouldn't try placing an order yet.

Last time I tried I couldn't even get into the EU shop to change my password so didn't fancy my chances of making it to order completion!

I missed off the +2. My bad.

I think we're going to have to agree to disagree on this matter.

If somebody writes a time as 12.00 GMT/UTC +2 then I read that to be, take 12.00 GMT and then add 2 hours onto it. Therefore that'd make 14.00 hours. Now if it was wrote 12.00 CEST then that would be that.

If Thomas originally wrote the time as 12.00 CEST (GMT/UTC +2) then that'd would've been clearer. As it was written as 12.00 GMT/UTC +2 (CEST) then I took it that Thomas was referring to the GMT part.

Anyways, this is all irrelevant now as the website is sort of up and running. Albeit afew hours behind. I've read too much into the wording of the statement. Well and truly over analysed it. All credit to Thomas for writing in a language different than your native tongue. Obviously little things get crossed in translation.

Sorry to keep clogging the thread with this.

No, that was a misunderstanding that spread as a rumor. Thomas said we would get a discount because they weren't going to add the extra cost of the air freight for the initial orders.

Oh well...at least I finally manage to order a complete set :)
Now just to wait and see how long for them to ship..assuming stock levels on the site were correct ;)

I successfully ordered a set of V2 Peddles. It took a bunch of retries and the site was very slow but I finally completed all the steps. I will be upgrading from the CSRE peddles and they will be hooked to my CSR-E wheel.

Has to be the most frustrating online shopping experience ever.
Been trying for over an hour to log in and finalise a sale, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Done. Hours of refreshing then about 30 mins waiting for individual options to load!

I've gone for the wheel base and formula rim for now.

Time to get my rig altered ready for the arrival!

I wonder what you are getting now. Just post it in the thread at Simology I made at some point. :)

Sucks to read about all the issues with Fanatec's site anyways. Well, it is not the site. The servers can't handle all the requests of such a grand launch. Now we can only imagine how many servers Apple has to use for its launches (and update the contents of every time the store goes down).

I'm sure the niche volume for this product pales in comparison to a Apple Launch. It's just a simple matter that whatever the volume is, it's more than their servo can handle. Who knows, for all we know 500 people world wide can be enough to slow the site.

All I know is I'd like to make a purchase :)

Site traffic analytics available within a few hours should indicate if that is really the case.

EDIT: Added quote that I forgot to.

May not be the site per say, but could be the way data base is configured on server too.

Whois lookup should indicate the hosting entity.

No comparison to Apple, like comparing a fleck on gnat's posterior to elephant's buttocks.

Even in terms of demand scale per server.
