I am sure you and many others would. I am a very lucky guy and I realize it, not having to wait in line and having played with it for a good 3 months now. :)

I made another purchase tonight to enhance my gaming experience... a Buttkicker gamer 2 for my rSeat. :)

Question to Thomas. What was first on the list now? The CSS or the Formula rim for the CSR E? And any info about the CSHB would be appreciate... teaser pictures even more. ;)

Clarification on tuning kit for CSP V.2s would be nice too.

Very frustrating unable to access site for last hour, took 3 hours just to change to new PW. I give up.

Whichever one is next, I just hope that he doesn't announce a release date (for his own good).
I bet the next time we see him on a video clip, he will have aged about 20 years after all of this :banghead:

Whenever I click English (US). It tells me this.

Error: Could not make a database connection using finalshop2_adm@localhost

According to Thomas' 911 blog the site was crashing again.

Sounds like they're working on it rather than leaving it for tomorrow.

Good luck, but leave one for me.

I guess the database service on the server is down. I reckon it wasn't adapted with the server to handle the requests.

E-commerce sites and migrating data bases, much less making a all new site function smoothly is a great pain in the rump.
We're going to go through the same exact thing come November and I feel Thomas's pain.
Get some sleep Thomas. At this point it is what it is. Our bank accounts will fin there way to you one way or the other or sooner or later. :)

By the way Thomas...of what I got to see of the new site it absolutely looks awesome!!👍

Can someone give me a run down on the sign up portion, what it asks for and stuff... I don't even have an account yet.

I missed off the +2. My bad.

I think we're going to have to agree to disagree on this matter.

If somebody writes a time as 12.00 GMT/UTC +2 then I read that to be, take 12.00 GMT and then add 2 hours onto it. Therefore that'd make 14.00 hours. Now if it was wrote 12.00 CEST then that would be that.

If Thomas originally wrote the time as 12.00 CEST (GMT/UTC +2) then that'd would've been clearer. As it was written as 12.00 GMT/UTC +2 (CEST) then I took it that Thomas was referring to the GMT part.

Anyways, this is all irrelevant now as the website is sort of up and running. Albeit afew hours behind. I've read too much into the wording of the statement. Well and truly over analysed it. All credit to Thomas for writing in a language different than your native tongue. Obviously little things get crossed in translation.

Sorry to keep clogging the thread with this.

Ok first of all, its not a matter of agreeing to disagree. You are just wrong. Its called an offset and its a commonly used practice. When someone writes a time, you say blah blah blah is happening at 10.00 GMT/UTC - 5 (CDT). This tells whoever you are writing to that its happening at 10:00 am central daylight time, which is 5 hours behind GMT. Its not 10.00 GMT - 5 hours. It's done that way so that easy time zone conversions can be done. If my time is GMT - 5 and something is happening at 12.00 GMT + 2, than I know it's happening 7 hours earlier my time. So 5.00 GMT - 5 is the same as 12.00 GMT + 2. If you didn't know that, it was your ignorance, to be completely honest. Its not a matter of how you read it.

Secondly, what you said doesn't even make sense. Why the heck would someone write 12.00 GMT + 2 if what they were really trying to say 14.00 GMT. Why not just put 14 in the first place?

I'm sorry if I seem harsh, it just seems idiotic to me that people have never seen a time zone offset writen before. Its everywhere. There's no need to debate it, its an established practice. Its like trying to debate the spelling of a word. Its not about how each individual reads it, it's just done a certain way.

I'm assuming he never has seen time written that way, so I guess I could understand a little bit how it could be confusing.

However I think the root cause of this issue is Fanatec's handling of this website/product launch. They've made several mistakes, delays, and now the web server crashes. People are skeptical of anything they say and trying to pick apart every little thing just in case.

Didnt they just hire a new website manager? Or was it only a designer? I doubt if Thomas has anything to do with the website problems, just seems like whoever he hired to run it is a little over their head.

I dunno about who they've hired recently. But with the problems, I'm assuming they are using their own servers just due to the way Thomas described the problems and their late night working to fix it, which I believe was a mistake. We are talking about a company selling products all over the world, I think they should have went with a well known server hosting company and paid for the bandwidth instead of trying to run it themselves. Because as we can see, they've been trying for 2 1/2 days now and it's still not up for everyone. I hope they didn't lose customers over this, because I wish Fanatec all the success in the world, but I think some people may have jumped ship due to this problem. They have every right to look elsewhere, I understand not everyone is as tolerant and patient as I (and some others) are.

I suppose I'll go to bed and see if it's up for day 3 at 3 AM, I decided to finally see Top Gun !

does it matter if we go to Fanatec.de or Fanatec.com for the purchase?

i was like 4 hours trying to make the order.. when i finally could, got problems with my credit card company when trying to pay with paypal... when i got the issue solved... server down .. got "Error: Could not make a database connection using finalshop2_adm@localhost" and is 1am here... oh well....

They are still in beta firmware for the site. So you should understand that if you get a kinect steering wheel instead of CSW.

If someone reads all this, he can get the inpression that this wheel is only available today and thereafter it will be available never again.

We talk about spending ~1000$/€ on a webshop which is "beta" if at all (some people have paid but are unsure if the order is really placed or not) and that for a product, which is announced with a 10 years lifespan.

So why the rush? Why has everyone the need to get the "first" wheel? Why not waiting until everything works reliable? Most of you have waited since December (first estimated release date), so do another 2 or 3 months for the second batch really matter?

I get the impression that simracers are a special species for some reasons...

With any other product (TV, car, etc...) the golden rule is to wait for the second batch to get issues sorted out. No offense intended, just wondering...

btw site is not working (10:03 Central European Summertime CEST)

Strange thing to say really.

Companies release new products for customers to buy for the company to make a profit.
Popularity at launch determines things like future production runs, financial agreements with investors/banks etc..and more importantly customer satisfaction, word of mouth and repeat business.

People should get excited for a product launch, these are the 'golden' customers who are the backbone of any business. They are the customers that are prepared to pay full retail price for a niche product. People are paying £1000/1000 euros for a steering wheel/pedals to go in a pretend car in their house :D

If the demand wasn't there, Fanatec would not survive

As for sim racers being 'special'. For me they are no more special than the thousands that stand outside a store at midnight to buy a new Call of Duty game for £40 or a new iPad for £600 :)

I wonder what you are getting now. Just post it in the thread at Simology I made at some point. :)

Sucks to read about all the issues with Fanatec's site anyways. Well, it is not the site. The servers can't handle all the requests of such a grand launch. Now we can only imagine how many servers Apple has to use for its launches (and update the contents of every time the store goes down).

I just wanted to get the base and BMW rim.
Not really needing it right away but you know how it is in wanting things.

I finally got the whole way through to the payment via paypal and could not process the sale as the option "via my bank account" for some reason this option wasn't available. MY Pay Pal is working fine and the funds are their, so I was like arrrrgggghhhhh...

Kinda funny in a way but I've spent a lot recently too so maybe not a bad thing to wait off a little.

No doubt Fanatec will get on top of things but you kinda think wouldn't it of been a better idea to of had the new website up months ago and all the issues ironed out before hand, then release the product.

I wish great success though to Thomas and the team as the new site is really nice and flash, a great step up over the old one.

The new site does look great, when you can get on it..
The problem people face now is getting confirmation from Fanatec for orders that have gone through :D
Everyone I've seen that has managed to place an order has paid by Paypal but no record on the Fanatec site, obviously it will get resolved but after parting with that amount of money I'd like to think the stock levels were properly updated :D

Update on Fanatec's facebook. Posting on the go so can't quote or link.

Looks like nothing will be done now until Monday. Their going to manually sort through current orders and contact people over the current status.

So for all those who have managed to pay, it won't be until Monday when we find out if it's 100% complete.

What a disaster :D
