The shop I bought them at:

Logi thanks for the information, much appreciated. :)

Try CarrLane online...they carry alittle of everything

Except for standalone springs, I guess... :dopey:

UPDATE

@ FMW - CSW's BMW Wheel powered right up, no problem with PS3 mode.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS.

Long time GT5 addict, have now owned or tested most of Fanatec's wheels, pedals & related products.

I usually run a CSR or GT3 wheel with CSP V.1s w-tuning kit, RWS V.1, & ProCar Seat w-80/20 base.
No elaborate Win/Sim setup here, just PS3/GT5/Sony DA2400ES/NHT Speakers @ 7.1/Sony Bravia 37".

Took it for a test spin on request by the owner who is in a far away land before its shipped out.

Did a couple of laps on GT5's Le Mans with Audi '01 LMP, no assists, no ABS.
(My favorite GT5 track and car, so good benchmark reference for my Cinderella outing)

Out of the box, FFB feels very close to default settings on the CSR E.

The toggles or mini joy sticks are higher quality than what I experienced on CSR E.

In comparison to a GT3, CSW/BMW rim very responsive, the weight felt good, and it did not feel too large.

The buttons felt good ergonomically, as did the distance and travel of paddle shifters in out-of the-box configuration.
(I have large hands, and long fingers).

Within 30 seconds, the stitching on the rear portion of the wheel's horizontal spokes near the paddle shifters was telling my fingers loud and clear; "We are here".

I am sure I will get grief for this, to me, the feel of the Alcantara and stitching of the GT3 wheel I have on hand seems more appealing than this particular CSW's BMW rim.

Pre-drilled holes on CSW Base's removable bracket lined up perfectly with RWS V.1's deck holes, no problems with the Quick Release on/off.

But after hands-on QR use, I highly recommend securing the base first. Secure the base, then attach the wheel, TY for the earlier heads up on this thread about that.

Why are you expecting grief? Funny thing to say.

@JogoAsobi and Everyone else:

I can succesfully say that HoiHman ordered a spring with the above information provided by me via that shop by contacting them via e-mail. I think there should still be some stock left of those springs.

So I wish you all the best of luck in getting one too if you want one. :)

Arent these stiffer springs eleminating the shock completly? All the force being delivered to the load cell are now coming from the spring because it is stiffer than the shock. It is completely eleminating the shock from the equation. Just like in a car if the spring is to stiff the shock cant do the job it was design to your just riding on the springs.

Then put in thicker/denser/higher viscosity oil if you so require. Means the shock will require more pressure to compress the oil.

It's kind of a mix and match thing. With cars you are stuck with the way the shocks were build (as far as I know), but with R/C shocks you can change the oil.

I am happy with the way I have my setup now. Everyone else has different demands of a brake, so they will have to find their own setup. Just like with setting up your car in game, that you love to drive with a particular setup doesn't mean someone else can drive with it since it is totally adjusted to your driving style. ;)

Im not trying to knock your mod, its just if your trying to simulate a hydro pedal you need to up the shock stiffness not the spring. If you up the spring stiffness without the shock stiffness your taking the shock outta the picture.

I am just saying that you can balance it out with oil is all. You are not stuck with an damper that you can not do anything with. I am sure FMV can explain things better then I can as the company he works at makes dampers and springs, so he is more knowledgeable then I am.

Besides, I am sure people will find better ways then me to improve the feel of the pedal. I am a n00b at modding to be honest. So no hard feelings or pride hurt here mate. ;)

I am sure you will be up and running in no time too. ;) Keep us posted.

After hearing all the horror stories online, I must say so far I have no reason to complain regarding my experiences with TECH support. Last night before I went to bed I followed their very thorough and detailed procedure on how to submit a problem including video. Got to love the iPhone and iMovie! LOL Anyway, I did so and got a very prompt reply early morning my time (California). They said the video and my detailed explanation showed them the wheel definitely needed to be replaced and no further investigation was needed from Fanatec Tech Support. From there I was instructed to go back to their website and fill out the appropriate RMA form. I did so and later again this morning I received another email saying my replacement wheel is being shipped today. OUTSTANDING Lucky for me I’m only 35 miles from the U.S. fulfillment house.
Last night I was able to mess around with the Formula rim and I have to say this whole thing is amazing. The tuning with the onboard menu screen can make or break your immersion experience and I can’t wait to try it with the proper rim for GT5! The F-1 rim just seems wrong on GT-5. LOL It’s awesome for F1 2011!!
I hope everyone else has pleasant experiences with the new gear and tech support if they need it.
BTW: I forgot who asked this earlier, but the firmware installed when I received the CSW base is the current one found on the Fanatec website.

Why are you expecting grief? Funny thing to say.

Well maybe "criticism" or perhaps "angst" would have been more accurate semantics.

There are some frequenters of these threads that seem to be quite easily whipped into a steaming froth regarding less than glowing assessments of particular brands.

Thanks Logi,

So do I tell them I am looking for the springs they have in the box under the counter, and to find one with the dimensions you have provided?

Or did HoiHman receive a bit more information during the course of placing his order that might insure the accuracy of ordering the same springs?

Just mail them with the picture posted and the dimensions. And tell them a blond guy of about 1m68 with a brown summer jacket bought one for his pedals.

I am sure everything will be fine then. I did not give him any more information than this either. ;)

Here is another picture that might come in handy, but I did only give HoiHman the earlier picture I posted. So it shouldn't be necessary.

I wonder there was no progressive springs in the first place. I mean it is not like spring mods are a new thing. That would be something I would expect from +150 € pedal set. Also additional springs to select from would cost like 10 € more.

also ordered one, they are now on the site you provided us here for sale.. just two in stock or so...
btw, which oild do you use Logi? 800 or 1200?

I'm assuming that the pic they show isn't the real spring because it looks a lot smaller in their picture, but thank you for finding that, I'm going to check my local hobby shop tomorrow probably

So I just got my pedals, but I can't find the Firmware for the V2 is it just the V1 firmware then? and where are instructions like the paper said

By R/C standards the included shock on the new pedals can not be built without getting air bubbles and that's a huge no no. So, today at work I went to our parts section and found what I believe will be AWESOME for upgrading the included shock.

1. The body is hard anodized and has a flourine coating for smooth piston movement.
2. The piston and the plastic inner seals are Teflon and TPE plastic. Clear non-expanding o-rings.
3. The shock shaft it titanium nitride coated.
4. I put 80 weight Associated Electric Silicone damper oil.
5. The shock shaft has a rubber boot to protect the shaft from debris, which for our use would be dust if left to untidy guy stuff.

OH yes! The length as you can see is dead nuts spot on. The only thing I have to finalize is the mount. The top caps spacing is slightly short, but I have the right spacers in my tool box somewhere. 💡

No air bubbles and super smooth :)

I made a quick pdf.

There is no newer firmware for the V2. The one that it comes with works fine, unless you have noticed any bugs? Then please report them to Fanatec. ;)

What does such a 'set' cost? So the shock, green slime, o-rings, oil, spring and what else you used?
I wonder how much difference it would make.

Also you guys at TRF have a nice video on the webpage (though your products pages don't work).

@Everyone:

Learn a bit from this video about filling shocks guys:

Could you make a video to show us how it works, to see the diference with the stock? What price are we talking?

Great info there. Now please give me details on how I can order one which is filled and setup to be mounted on my pedals.

Cool! I had the same question.

Which oil are people using in the pedals? My set came with two bottles of silicone oil and I assume two different viscosities (?) - unfortunately, one bottle leaked about 3ml of silicone oil and the printing on the label came off. Other than that minor issue the pedals look sweeeeet!
:)

The leaking bottle is most likely the thin #800 viscosity oil. I use the other, the #1200. Which most others use as well I think, I know Mayaman does.
