I just got fooled

Latest news update:

Gamescom, the trade fair we have all been waiting for begins tomorrow. We can expect a lot of interesting gaming news and it will be particularly interesting to find out new information about upcoming Fanatec products. Fanatec will not have a booth at Gamescom, but visitors will be able to see their products at Xbox, Codemasters and Intel booths (source). It has not been revealed yet which products will be displayed, but hopefully we will get to see products we have not been shown before and also get some impressions by the people who will get the opportunity to try them out. Thrustmaster said they will show their new gated shifter (TH8 RS) at Gamescom, can we expect Fanatec to do the same and show us Clubsport Shifter for the very first time? Fingers crossed :)

As you can see Codemasters already set up their Playseat F1 with Clubsport Pedals and Fanatec Clubsport Wheel with the optional F1 wheel rim to show their upcoming game, F1 2011. Besides that photo, they also tweeted a front shot of the F1 rim which you can see on the left. It confirms what Fanatec wrote on Codemasters forums a few days ago - this wheel is solid, CNC machined aluminum with Alcantara grips.

Come back soon for sim racing and Fanatec related news from Gamescom 2011!

That "Fanatec Fansite" is not the new official website or actually new. It started I believe last June. Is good though and great to see "Sonac" putting so much effort into it.

I was hoping for some release dates for the CSR line of wheels at Gamescon :(

I am sorry if I fooled anyone :) We are waiting for Thomas to release a video with detailed information about about the Clubsport Wheel. LINK

From the 911 Official Blog...

This week is Europes biggest game fair: The Gamescom in Cologne.

We will show the Forza MotorSport CSR Elite wheel at the Xbox booth on the same motion simulator as at E3. Certainly an impressive set up to play this great game. Hint: Although everybody chooses the Ferrari, I can highly recommend to drive the Mercury Cougar. Big fun!

And we have a world premiere and proudly present our new ClubSport Wheel with FORMULA rim at the Deep Silver booth with Codemaster's F1 2011.

You are welcome to try out the wheel and the great game. (Hint: One car maker has sometimes three cars in the race now)

Later this week, I will make a video and explain the wheel in more detail.
I will be there and happy to meet with you and anybody who sees me on the show is welcome to say hello and have a chat with me.

Pictures to follow...

Thanks for the info Thomas...

Well for the upcoming video and if Thomas sees this thread before doing it (if not already done)

Personally Id like confirmation on the CSR/Elite & Clubsport Wheels on the following: If the below can be addressed in any upcoming videos or interviews.

 1. Is the chassis the same if not what are the main differences?
 2. Can the CSR Elite allow for its rim to be removed to facilitate other rims like the "Formula Rim"?
 3. Support for the X360 is only with the Forza Rim? The FM rim is not designed to be removed?
 4. Are these two products interchangable in any way or would a person have to buy each wheel for the ultimate FM4 and F1/PC experience?

Thomas wrote in Codemaster's forum regarding making the F1 wheel rim for CSR Elite the following:
This can be done but depends on demand. The wheel rim of the CSR Elite wheel is also exchangeable with just taking off two screws.

All I see when I look at that wheel is yet another failed creation of an already flawed company. They can't even get the products they have now to work correctly for very long, yet are going to stuff another wheel on the market, just in the hopes that the additional drooling it will cause will blind people to the reality of their pathetic products. Furthermore, I can guarantee those two letters "C" and "S" will beef up the price as well.

I have already spent my money on one Fanatec product and have yet to really use it in the two months I've owned it, due to poor design and even worse quality control. The thought of ever buying another (or suggesting that my friends or family do so) is absolutely gone now.

In fact, with the sincere hopes of an official Fanatec reprepsentative reading this, I would much rather have my money back than be subjected to the failures of yet another replacement product. I had choices when I bought my wheel, and apparently chose poorly.

Not a fan then? :P

What problems do you have? All my products work fine apart from the pedals, which was entirely my fault. Even so, it's given me a lot more enjoyment than any gaming accessory I've ever had.

And it's not a replacement product. It's an additional product. Most people I've talked too enjoy their product, and their only problems are shipping times and customer service, which is already improving quite a bit.

To me, I see another great product coming from Fanatec in that video, and I'm awaiting the wheel anxiously.

@MATKAP- Wish I was there. :sly:

My carrerra wheel has been going strong since december along with the standard pedals. I used it a ton unti february when i sold it to a friend who uses it every day.

My gt2 and csp have also been problem free for me as well. Picked them up from a friend in February. He got them in december before the shortage.

Soooo, in my experience Fanatec has been top notch for me. Yes I have read all the complaints, but people are always more vocal on the negative side than they are giving praise.
I would recommend Fanatec products to anyone.

:grumpy:
How could you tell? :banghead:

That sucks. But yeah, I understand why you'd be so frustrated along with many other people. I bought a used TurboS back a while ago, and it was working fantastic. I tortured it like hell and never had an issue. I sold it in the end because the sweat from my hands was sticking to the leather rim. It would've been too thick if I wore gloves.

Just before E3, I thought of getting the out-of-stock GT2 when Thomas announced the CSS and then the CSR series. So now, I'm just waiting for that along with official release dates and prices. Perhaps I got away from the trouble suffered in the GT2...

Thomas, I am confused. I read that the CSW (clubport wheel w/removable rim, new FFB system, etc) is only compatible with the PC and PS3 but I see videos of people using the wheel to play Forza 4.

The pedals I received with my Carrera wheel failed within two months of purchasing (very limited use). I contact support, and they send out another set of pedals - this time the shiny Turbo S standard pedals - and they fail in just under 4 days. I contact support again and wait 3 days to get a response asking me to "try the cable from my shifter" - which doesn't work either. Now I wait another day or two (maybe three) for another troubleshooting method that likely will not work (presumably another set of replacement pedals).

My problem is justified by the fact I paid $160 for a product I've barely used because of defective components (not misuse). Their only solution is to replace the pedals...costing me more time, something which I don't have much of for gaming in the first place.

I've since begun requesting a refund for everything, so I can just move on to another wheel and actually enjoy my computer and the racing games on it, rather than spending two thirds of my time waiting for another UPS truck. I just don't have a lot of trust in Fanatec any longer.

The issues with their products are of no secret, and with a simple Google search (something I regrettably neglected to perform prior to purchasing), one can get a sense of just how bad the quality of some of their products actually is.

You're absolutely right, it's no secret. And that's why it doesn't belong in this thread.

You are right that CSR base looks like GT2 one, but there's also CSR Elite wheel and its base is the same as CSW one.

Sorry, I did not know that. I thought the CSR elite was the one that looked like a GT2 with new paint and upgraded components.

So......
CSW - PC / PS3 only plus removable rims

CSR Elite - xbox 360 only - All the same components but no removable rim

Right???💡
