Fanatec...
This is already working with the firmware 35 which is currently in testing phase.

Can you explain how it works, Thomas? Natively or in PS3 mode? For both F1 2012 and GT5 that is.

Hello Thomas.
Will the support for 7th gear be integrated in the CSR Elite?

Spike,

Using your SFA1 and the TH8RS, your 7th gear will work when on the xbox and ps3. :) (and PC if you map it correctly)

If Fanatec decides to add 7th gear as it's own "actual gear" available on the wheels, like the CSW currently has, I will release a firmware for the SFA1 to utilize it directly.

Aaah, ok.
Thx, I was a little confused, because I saw only for the CSW support for gear 7.

The CSW natively supports 7th.

On the other wheels, using the SFA1 and TH8RS, 7th is done by switching quickly to sequential mode and up-shifting when 7th gear is selected. (the adapter does this automatically for you) As of right now you must go from 6th to 7th in order for this to work properly. Coming out of 7th, you can go into any gear of your choosing.

I hope that makes sense. :)

These rims are almost as hotly anticipated as the iPad mini! ;)

Sadly it looks like the iPad will beat you to market!

I will probably end up wanting other rims, but I'm very happy with the generic formula rim and GT rim as well. The formula works perfectly for all the open wheelers and a couple other cars, the GT rim works great for both GT cars and NASCAR oval cars. Sure, a bigger NASCAR style wheel might be more realistic, but I think I'll be ok without it.

Couldn't have said it better myself

All F1 rim of new stock come with the shifter paddles new, how do I know? I received my F1 rim 10 days ago.

It's a real safe bet you have the updated paddles. If by some slim chance you don't they will break rather quickly, but rest assured they'll send you replacements quickly. My updated ones work really well and I've pounded them since if installed them :-)

The springs on my beta rims have not failed yet (though I have another issue with them related to them being beta), and I am not being kind on them at all. Though... I better do this... *knocks on wood*

So quick question, has there been any update on a new shifter yet? I got my CSR wheel, CSR-Elite pedals and love them. I also got the 2 pc shift set and I am not a fan of it at all, especially the mounting to the wheel. Plan to build my own solid rig but I would like a higher quality shifter. On my 1st play thru I already broke a piece off of the 6speed shifter base by simply shifting it lightly into 3rd gear!!

No news yet. For all we know it could take another 6 months till a year until the ClubSport Shifter (of which we know little about apart from concept designs) is released.

The best shifter to use now would be the Thrustmaster TH8 RS and then also buy Mr Basher's SFA1 as found here: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=266271

There are only two shifter packs out for Fanatec wheels. There's the cheap Porsche set and the slightly nicer CSR set. They use the same design, but the CSR swaps in metal shift levers. Unfortunately, the weak plastic base of the stick was not addressed, which is an odd oversight. That said, I haven't broken mine, and I do like the feel of the CSR shifter, if not the overall build quality.

Here are your options if you want a superior shifter:

Wait for Fanatec's ClubSport Shifter (fully metal, 7+1 speed). It will plug into the CSR wheel so it should work on all platforms that the wheel supports. ETA unknown.

Get a Thrustmaster TH8RS and use it with your CSR wheel and pedals on the PC.

Get a Basherboards SFA1 and Thrustmaster TH8RS to plug it into the CSR for full console compatibility. Just keep in mind you're looking at about $200-$250 total for that option.

But it's worth it ;)
With the CSS not even in sight, this is the best solution currently availabe, at least for H pattern shifter.

Keep in mind that was roughly the outlay for an InterfaceOne with variable shipping costs depending on one's geographical location as the InterfaceOne shipped out from UK.

And in contrast to the enclosure-clad, USB cable bundled SFA1, InterfaceOne naked PCB purchasers had to source their own enclosures and USB cable.
EDIT: Forgot to say that the SFA1 is also firmware-upgradeable @ user end for future additional shifter support.

But it's worth it ;)

Yes it is, the SFA1 is actually probably a better deal, the catch 22 for both though, is the TH8 RS pricing. I was fortunate enough to buy a couple from Amazon UK and get them delivered to USA for less than $95 each.

How much is Bashers SFA1?

The shifter is £61 on amazon UK.

With Fanatecs reluctance to finally get a CSS out to the masses, he will find there's not much of a market left for him unless its head and shoulders above the TH8RS for a decent price point.

Well done Again Basher.

I think thats the whole issue. There was alot of talk from Fanatec about the shifter until the TH8 shifter hit the market. Then it was delayed and then basically never talked about again from Fanatec. So maybe it wasnt as good or was going to come to market way to expensive to compete with the TH8 shifter. Either way I think that ship as long since sailed for Fanatec to make any real money with it. Unless its WAY better than the TH8 at as similar price as Spagetti said.

I am right on the edge. I just wish Thomas would release something. A video. Feature list. Something.
