Did you press the left button to switch the wheel to PC mode ? I sometime forget to do it when starting rF2 and the wheel is then not recognized.

If you turn the Dri(Drift Mode Setting) on the wheel up to 2 or 3, you will significantly increase the speed the wheel turns, making it much lighter to the touch.

I am interested in the CSR-E or CSW and I wonder why would anyone want to have the wheel slowed down? I always want my wheel to be as fast as possible. What is the downside with the Fanatec wheels when they are set to react fast?

Drift mode uses the force feedback motor to provide assistance in counter steering the wheel. At the higher settings it can be feel artificial and you may find yourself overcorrecting. I find I don't need to use drift mode nearly as much with the CSR Elite (vs the GT2). I often have it off, or at 1 (out of 5), maybe at 2 in certain situations.

Thought I would throw this out here because this thread has frequent discussion regarding wheel FFB/vibration and CSP pedal vibration effects.

I have seen wildly differing accounts of the same product's performance by different posters, I am sure all of you have too.

Until recently I was using a wheel stand and separate seat, a few days ago I finally finished my new very rigid 8020 rig. I was instantly blown away by how much stronger the FFB and vibration effects from both my GT3 RS V.2 and CSP pedals felt in the new rig.

The point I am trying to make is that these wheel FFB/Vibration and pedal/vibration effects can be greatly diluted or amplified depending on what they are mounted to.

I will venture to say that there is also probably a lot of variation in metal rigs depending on their tubing, and joints. I can say with certainty that wood, carpeted floors, and detached seats will dilute these effects.

I have seen quite a few posters' high-end wheels mounted to Wheel Stands, wood tables and desks, with detached seats of one type or another. No criticism intended, you have to use what is available.

...but now I really think the only way an accurate comparison can be made would be to mount the equipment to identical rigs on identical flooring surfaces.

Keep that in mind next time these discussions occur.

Your definately right JogoAsobi, mounting makes a big difference..

Personally i have the CSP vibrations switched off. With two MIni LFe's and a BKG2 at the pedals, i don't feel the ( weak) vibrations of the CSPv2 :)

FFB/vibration and CSP pedal vibration effects.

mounting makes a big difference.

I used to have a DIY PVC 1.5 inch pipe setup, I had it fixed on top of my bed with Bungee Straps, it was very comfortable (F1 position) and easily stored away. I used it for a few years and really liked it, PWTS and CSP for 2 years, CSR Elite and CSP for 9 months.

I am very limited for space, hence the rig on top of a bed setup, so a couple of months ago, I decided to build a new bed base that could incorporate a full size DIY car seat rig. The rig is made from 18mm MDF and 38mm x 63mm CLS timber and some sheet steel, it is on wheels and is very heavy and is absolutely solid with no flex.

What a difference it has made. The combined ABS rumble from the pedals and the wheel are now felt through the whole rig, and the FFB effects are amazing. I knew that my old mattress rig dampened the effects, but I had no idea how much I was missing out on.

My friend has a similar setup, his MDF sits directly on his carpet on a concrete floor, and mine is on wheels on my carpet on a wooden floor. His ABS effect is not nearly as strong as mine, so does it help to have my rig on wheels? I don't know.

I have seen so many videos of rigs that clearly flex, even some of the more expensive ones flex, this must take away some of the effects compared to a rigid setup, so rigidity may be even more important than materials used.

I'm bummed :( I bought a CSR wheel/pedals/shifter from Fanatec and like it a lot, but then I heard about their Clubsport deal where for Black Friday you get the F1 rim for free if you buy the base and BMW rim. For some reason I couldn't get into their site on Friday from two different computers to order the deal and I had no way to contact them to see if there was another way of ordering to get in on that.

Sucks because I was about to drop the $$$ just to get it all even though I don't need it.

Wish the deal was extended or it was still available so I didn't miss out. I'm guessing it was the site as I had no problem getting to any other site I normally browse.

the new site looks fantastic, still I am disappointed that as a non-german I have to rely on thieves (paypal) to pay for the products. Only used paypal two times and second time I paid with paypal they took a transaction fee, something I didn´t had to pay the first time I used paypal and I didn´t saw the fee being added before I confirmed my purchase.

Paypal are known as huge crooks, they can freeze your account anytime they feel like it. Just search Paypal and you will see google suggest "paypal are holding my money" not really a reliable way to pay. The only alternative to paypal is moneyorder, have anyone payed using this method? How does it work?

Paypal might not be best option but your fee was probably a few bucks and no sales tax right? No offense but those services have to pay someone to have a site, keep things running, etc.

I am a little surprised they charged a fee as usually that gets passed on to the seller.

I really wish they would fix the receipt feature. After ordering I get no email stating I made an order. Also, when I go into my previous orders I see no previous orders. My credit card is being charged though.

Now the site works, and I must say it looks great.
The configurator is a great idea and so easy to use, with all important information on hand.
It's as usual with Fanatec, you've got some delays, but the final product is awesome ;)

I agree the new site looks good. Had a quick look around last night the only thing I would of liked to see and didn't would be a coming soon section or in pipe line lol With pictures and info on their next items. Like the CSW shifter etc...

After all the waiting and launch disappointment I finally took delivery of a CSW set today :)
I'm hoping to get it all installed this evening but think I may need to make quite a few changes to my rig to accomodate.
I took them out of the boxes to have a good look and for the first time since I've been messing around racing, I think I want to get some gloves :D
No point going over old ground..but these things are jaw-dropping

I had the same issue, its probably just that tweaks have to be made to their new site's data base links.

I received an email from Fanatec sales today informing me the order I placed on the new site earlier this week would be shipping tomorrow after I sent them an email. My order also now appears in my account.

Yeah gloves are recommended to maintain the nice finish.
Speaking of which it is very satisfying to now have, like you these rims and given them a good inspection.

The price is not cheap but really I would say for the build and high level finish, before even taking into account the unique functionality these rims offer they are very good value for money.

Photos, do not do them justice and having owned and used the following wheels from the DF/GT, G25, GT3 RS, TURBO S, CSR, CSR Elite, T500 RS the quality of build and genuine satisfaction only a high quality product can give someone, easily the most respect and sense of joy in ownership goes to the CSW.

Even the detail and presentation of the packaging is among the best available. If it is all done to flatter customers, heck it works. Such is not needed considering these are not seen on a retail floor but it just goes towards that customer satisfaction a new purchase gives.

To me it felt like an "apple moment"...

I look forward to more rims coming in the future....
Great work Fanatec

One thing I did find surprising was the thickness of the GT rim, I assumed it would be thicker actually.
I'm really looking forward to having a 'wall' of rims ;)

Glad you two are impressed with how your new CSW's look..........
But what about how they feel? :)

I only got a couple of hours in and haven't really scratched the surface with the settings but it's such a massive jump from my trusty old CSR :)
I was surprised how evolved Fanaled's is now :D

I was also surprised to find no real settings listed on f-wheel. There's lots of settings to mess with.

I have a personal issue with my rig now though because the GT rim is a monster and looks and feels just right, but the Formula rim sits too low and points up at an angle now whereas it would be better straight on..It may prompt me for a redesign or maybe some kind of mod ;)

Yeah Steve I have that same issue with the different wheel heights. I've already adjusted the hight of my wheel deck from the T500 by about 40mm for the GT rim but for the F1 its still too low. I've mine hard mounted without the angled bracket as it just doesn't feel right with it. I agree it is a jump forward even from the Elite its a more natural realistic feeling wheel.
Enjoy!

I'm already drawing up plans for a mod for my rig, once I get to grips with it I'll update my thread :)

Well i'm glad that Rodney and Steve are satisfied with their wheels.:)

Mine has issues from day one and has to go RMA:grumpy::grumpy:

Rodney & Steve i PM 'ed you both, would please take a look at the video i send you. Thanks

While I am very tempted to connect up my eyefinity and enjoy some PC games with the wheel I will hold off a little longer. Will give the wheel a few hours playing to check it over that it is functioning okay.

However got a lot of cutting wood etc to do soon and do not want the wheel out in the open with all that going on. I have patience but know the wait will be worth it.

An adjustable wheel deck section is something I will want to have on my build too guys. I guess it can easily be missed or forget about when switching from wheels or in this case even rims.

I had to play around and enjoy the excitement so took this quick race inspired photo...

btw Steve gloves can be small fitting, just a heads up.

lol...is there a rumour I have small hands :sly:

Funny really, cos I'm also looking on the gloves thread right now ;) I may try some of the 'touch screen' gloves as I use 2 touchscreens monitors...hmmm, ponders

Yeah the issue with the monitors may be a factor for some, I know those gloves I have will not work with the ipad. Still though it is likely the settings will be configured pre race say for Simcommander and the touch-screen set to diisplay a speedo/race info etc or whatever it is being used for.

I personally want to use DSD and RMK switch boxes I bought for a nicer feeling (to me anyways) physical switch/button. Mind you the wheel itself has lots of potential for these anyways.
