BTW here in the US the price of the Elite wheel just changed from $540 to $600. Luckily my order went through at the old price and it just shipped. ;-)
Am already looking into some tweaks which should work on Elite/ CSW bases.
Keep me posted.
Though I will have to figure out some more fixes than just the belt issues of my CSW though, but nothing that is impossible.
Also I am thinking of maybe looking at something like a 3D printer for Project CARE and making maybe some parts for trying stuff out. It's how Pagani made the wheel for the Huayra too.
They go for about 750 pounds now (which I don't have right away though). But its useful for a lot of stuff when developing stuff.
This reminds me... I have a CNC machine, I completely forgot to post that over at C.A.R.E. :/ Now you know When were ready, I can make the chips fly for ya
I also have a milling machine and lathe, so.. yeah
Carson, I think they changes the buttons that are used to get it into calibration mode... Double check the most recent instructions.
No problem.
On the subject of belts... At least for the wheels that use toothed belts. (not CSR Elite or CSW)
It has been asked several times here and over at f-wheel as well, where/how to get them. One person seems to know where to get them and has been able to source the belts. However, when asked they simply state that you can call gates and obtain a the number for a distributor of the belts at which point they can be purchased. That said, for some strange reason, although asked several times, this information has not been provided.
Reluctantly so, I decided to give Gates a call myself. I like to know things too...
Before I go further, I must say, Gates has some excellent customer service. They are incredibly helpful and sound like they enjoy doing what they are doing. Seems like a nice company to work for...
So I called Gates and spoke with a woman in sales. I provided her with the part numbers for the belts and which point she stated that they do not come up with any results for sales. She stated that they are probably OEM. Meaning, they were custom made for a company. She stated that she was not entirely sure though... The issue is that they do not make a belt in either of these widths/tooth profile/length combinations. Instead of stopping there, she decided that a technical support engineer may be able to find me a compatible belt.
Next I spoke with a technical support engineer. Upon giving him the part numbers, he was actually able to look up the specific items. He stated the following:
[*]The belts are made by a company in Japan that was purchased by Gates some time ago. The company is called Unitta.
[*]The belts cannot be sourced directly through Gates. I must contact Gates-Unitta in Japan and then I may be able to obtain a belt directly from them.
[*]The 3GT portion of the belt number is the tooth profile... However, it is not actually a GT profile and thus is not compatible with a normal Gates GT profile. It is actually most similar to a HTD II profile, though not the same.
[*]Unitta atually uses their own profiles and designations, though similar to the main Gates company specifications.
[*]Gates US, does NOT offer a compatible belt nor do it's distributors. The belt must be purchased through Gates-Unitta Japan. They may have a US distributor, though I have not contacted them yet to check.
If anyone would like to contact them, I can provide you with the email address via PM. I don't want them getting spammed by me posting it out on the internet.
So, in summation, according to the belt manufacturer, you cannot purchase this belt directly from a gates distributor. A simple 3GT profile belt is not directly compatible.
Why the above was not simply stated when asked no numerous occasions, I do not know. However, this information is direct from Gates.
So you unplugged the shifter and plugged it back in and it worked on PC?

That's quite interesting. I guess you learn a thing or two after supporting a "few" shifter adapters. lol
Another thing I seem to have noticed is that sometimes the calibration doesn't "carry over" from one mode to the next. It sounds like that may have happened to you. Getting it calibrated on the PC usually makes it work on the consoles as well. Trying to calibrate in Xbox mode is generally futile and just generates a bunch of garbage on the display when you are done. They actually removed that mode from the calibration instructions.
Try calibrating on PC, then moving to the xbox. Once you move to the Xbox, if the shifter doesn't work, leave the wheel on and bound to the xbox. Unplug the shifter and plug it back in. Tell me if that works.
If that works... Their firmware is borked and you should post this on their site. I'm not going to mention exactly what I think is going on. Lets see what they do with their firmware going forward.
Anytime my friend, anytime.
Unfortunately, you may end up needed to unplug the shifter each time you bind to the console to get it to work. For the heck of it, try turning off the wheel then rebinding to the xbox to see if it works still.. If it doesn't unplug and replug the shifter and see if it works again.
Just trying to cover the bases.
I think we will start seeing price increases on a lot of things. Though Fanatec uses UPS, USPS changed it's rates this Sunday and international shipping charges basically DOUBLED! :/
What advantage would that bring?
I Paid 30$ for shipping for the CSPv2s and still waited 3 weeks. Everything I buy on amazon using prime has next day shipping for 3.99 or free 2 day. Weight doesn't matter either.
CSR Élite Europe 599€ ?!?
